Jade’s POV

Abigail’s entire demeanor shifted instantly as a warm, sweet smile spread across her face. She tightened her arms around Rita’s shoulders, pulling her even closer in an affectionate squeeze.

"Oh, thank you so much, ma'am!" Abigail chirped, her voice dropping into a soft, overly polite tone as if she hadn't just been screaming seconds ago. "At least I will finally be completely free from trouble for the day!" She took an eager step toward the head servant, clasping her hands together in dramatic gratitude. "I honestly don't even know how to thank you properly, ma'am... May I give you a hug?"

The head servant woman took a swift step back, her posture turning rigid as she held up a hand to block Abigail’s approach. "No. Keep your hugs to yourself," she snapped, her cold eyes narrowing with irritation. "I do not do touching."

She turned her sharp gaze back toward me, pointing a thick, scolding finger directly at my face. "And as for you... you cannot come into this house and make other people feel uncomfortable or threatened. If I hear even one more complaint about your behavior today, I will personally report you to Alpha Nicolai."

I simply lowered my chin in a brief nod, keeping my lips pressed tight in silence. I didn't bother offering a defense or explaining Abigail's lies, because arguing with this woman wouldn't change a single thing.

Satisfied with my silence, the head servant smoothed down her uniform and looked across all four of us. "Before any of you report to your assigned duties, you will head down to the staff refectory to eat your morning breakfast. After you finish, you rush straight to your stations and begin work immediately."

With those final orders, she turned on her heel and strode out through the heavy oak doors, her hard shoes clicking loudly against the stone floor.

Once she was gone, Bakito and I grabbed our small washing kits to quickly brush our teeth and clean our faces. The moment we finished, we walked side by side down the long, winding hallway toward the staff refectory.

The dining hall was absolute chaotic noise. Servants, guards, cooks, and castle staff were packed shoulder to shoulder inside the wide, vaulted room. Everyone had already formed a massive, sprawling line that snaked around the perimeter of the room, each person waiting patiently to collect a tray of hot food from the long serving counter. Once they received their meals, the workers scattered toward the rows of long wooden tables, finding open seats to eat quickly before their morning shifts began.

Bakito and I took our places at the very back of the line. The queue moved at a steady pace, and after several minutes, we finally stepped up to the front counter.

My eyes widened in genuine shock as the kitchen staff loaded our trays with food. They were serving a massive, classic American breakfast spread—fluffy buttermilk pancakes stacked high, crispy strip bacon, golden scrambled eggs cooked with melted cheese and fresh herbs, alongside hot hash browns and a small bowl of mixed berries.

I blinked at the overflowing plate, completely stunned. I never expected this brutal pack to serve such high-quality, rich, and content-filled food to hundreds of ordinary servants every single morning.

Bakito and I carried our heavy trays away from the counter, scanning the noisy room until we spotted an empty two-person table near the quiet corner wall. We slid onto the wooden benches and immediately began digging in.

Bakito took a few massive bites before she suddenly leaned across the small table. Her dark eyes darted around the room nervously as she lowered her voice to an urgent whisper. "So... how do we start planning our escape? How do we get out of this place? When are we actually leaving?"

My eyes went wide, my fork freezing halfway to my mouth. I quickly leaned across the table, fixing her with a firm, cautionary look.

"Lower your voice when you are talking about things like that," I whispered sternly, glancing over my shoulder to ensure none of the passing guards were listening to us. "Don't ever speak about escaping in the open where other people might hear us. And you need to calm down, Bakito. We can't just run out the front gates blindly like this. We have to find a safe place to stay outside first, and we have to carefully observe every guard pattern and exit route before we make a move. Just be patient and calm down."

I was still mid-sentence, trying to explain the importance of careful planning, when my eyes drifted down to Bakito’s tray.

I blinked in utter disbelief. In the short minute we had been sitting there, Bakito had already scarfed down every single bit of her food. Her plate was completely bare, and she was actively scraping the flat of her fork against the porcelain, trying to lick up the tiny leftover crumbs of hash browns and syrup.

I looked back down at my own plate—I had barely eaten half of my scrambled eggs and pancakes.

"Wait..." I asked softly, a warm, pitying smile touching my lips. "Are you still hungry? Do you want to eat more?"

Bakito froze, her face turning bright red with sudden embarrassment. She slowly lowered her fork, looking up at me through her lashes before giving me a tiny, eager nod of her head.

Without a second thought, I pushed my loaded tray across the wooden table toward her. "Here, take mine."

Bakito’s eyes lit up with deep gratitude. She pulled the plate toward herself and immediately began wolfing down the food, devouring the pancakes and bacon as if she hadn't seen a full meal in weeks. Within minutes, the second plate was wiped entirely clean.

She let out a soft, satisfied sigh, dabbing her mouth with a paper napkin as she looked up at me with shiny eyes. "Thank you so much, Jade... Thank you."

I smiled at her softly, sliding off the wooden bench and dusting off my clothes. "You're very welcome. Now come on, let's go—we have work to do."

Oh God... What on earth is this? Just when I thought things had already hit rock bottom, just when I genuinely believed that the worst had already happened to me, everything kept getting ten times worse. It felt like every time I reached the absolute lowest point of my life, a trapdoor opened underneath my feet and dropped me into a whole new depth of hell. Why was this brutal beast—this absolute monster who dared to call himself an Alpha—putting my bleeding finger straight into his mouth? What kind of twisted, sickening animal behavior was this? A terrible shiver ran down my spine as his hot tongue brushed against my open wound. I tried to yank my hand back in sheer disgust, but his massive fingers held my wrist in a vice-like grip, pinning me completely helpless in front of him. His dark eyes narrowed into slow, predatory slits, watching my terrified face as he gently pulled my thumb out of his mouth. He swallowed slowly, a strange, unhinged look washing over his sharp feat

I knelt frozen on the floorboards, staring down at my open palm as dark crimson blood welled up from the gash, overflowing in steady streams and dripping heavily onto the wood. All of this pain, all of this blood, was entirely because of the heartless monster sitting just a few paces away from me. The sight of my own blood proved to be the final straw. Tears burst from my eyes, hot and unstoppable, streaming down my blotchy cheeks as my chest heaved with quiet, agonizing sobs. I couldn't hold back the crushing weight inside me anymore. I am such an absolute fool, I screamed mentally at myself, my throat tight with bitter regret. I am so ridiculously stupid! How could I have been this blind? I should have gone with him that night when I had the chance! I should have followed him without looking back! Everything terrible that is happening to me right now in this dark fortress is completely my own fault! It wasn't anyone else's fault but my own. This nightmare was the direct result

I kept my mouth shut, refusing to give him the satisfaction of hearing me complain. I slowly sank down to my knees on the cold floorboards, resting the metal trash bin right beside me. My fingers trembled slightly as I reached out toward the wide pile of shattered crystal and dark wine stains. Some of the broken pieces were large, jagged slabs with lethal edges, while others were tiny, razor-sharp splinters scattered across the blue rug. I took a deep, steadying breath, carefully pinching the flat side of a heavy glass shard between my thumb and index finger. I lifted it slowly, dropping it into the metal bin with a loud, ringing clink. Piece by piece, I kept picking them up. I moved with extreme caution, double-checking every angle before placing my bare skin against the jagged edges. My heart pounded against my ribs like a trapped bird, every instinct screaming at me to stop before I cut myself to ribbons, but I gritted my teeth and kept working, filling the bottom of the bin o

He froze in place, his chest heaving as his dark eyes fixated on the jagged mess spread across the floorboards. The crimson wine was soaking deep into the expensive rug, surrounding the scattered shards of broken glass like a pool of fresh blood. A dark, unhinged look flashed across his face. Without saying a word, he turned on his heel and strode toward an even larger mahogany table standing near the balcony. This one was stacked high with row upon row of crystal decanters, silver platters, and dozens of delicate wine glasses. He pulled back his heavy boot and kicked the table leg with explosive force. The heavy structure flipped into the air with a violent crash. The deafening, ear-splitting sound of shattering glass and breaking crystal erupted through the vast chamber, echoing off the stone walls. Sharp shards flew in every direction, and I instinctively flinched, clamping both hands tight over my ears to block out the unbearable noise. Once the room fell dead silent again

A slow, dangerous smile spread across his face, his dark eyes glittering with amusement as he looked down at me. "Wow... I actually like this," he murmured, his voice dropping into a low, rumbling growl that made the hair on my arms stand up. "A tiny little girl who is completely terrified on the inside... Her heart is pounding so hard and fast that I can hear every single rapid beat echo in my ears, yet she stands there pretending to be so unbelievably bold." He stepped even closer, his towering shadow swallowing me up completely as his lip curled into a cold, arrogant sneer. "I do not give a damn what your name is," he spat out, his tone dripping with utter contempt. "I do not know you, nor do I care to know you. The only person I know is your useless, pathetic excuse of a father, Vicenzo. So I will address you by whatever title I choose. I am going to call you Vicenzo, and whenever that name leaves my mouth, you will open yours and answer me immediately." A hot flare of def

My heart instantly stopped, dropping straight into my stomach as complete, freezing terror rushed through my veins. The broom handle slipped slightly in my sweaty palm. So he was inside this room all this time while I was sweeping around like an idiot? I had genuinely assumed the giant chamber was completely empty when I walked in, but I guess this room was simply way too massive, with dark, shadowy corners that could easily hide a giant. "I asked you a clear question," his deep voice echoed out again, even heavier and colder than before. The sound came directly from the tall, high-backed leather armchair situated in the dim corner near the balcony, a short distance away from where I stood. "Where is the second person? The head servant gave explicit instructions that there were supposed to be two of you cleaning this chamber today." I forced my hands to keep moving, dragging the broom bristles across the clean rug so he wouldn't see my shoulders shaking. "She is sick," I replied
