Chapter eighteen

Saratan's P.O.V

I shook my head, pulling the comforter over me with trembling hands. My knuckles turned white from clutching the covers so tightly as the sensation of all the blood draining out of me when that vicious monster fed from me like I was nothing but food feathered through my spine. But the voice grew stronger, more insistent, until I could feel it inside my bones.

"Come to the south wing." A stabbing pain shot through my head as she screeched, twisting her misleadingly innocent face into an ugly mask

It was like being caught in a nightmare, unable to escape. But something about Lora's voice was different now. I took a deep breath and opened my eyes. The darkness of the room seemed deeper now, more oppressive. I gasped for air, my chest tight.

But Lora's voice was still there, echoing in my head.

“South wing! Hurry!" she hissed. "I have something to show you."

I couldn't ignore her any longer. I had to see what she wanted, even if it meant risking my life. I got out
