Dregen’s P.O.V

I hacked into the databases of the local media outlets, security cameras, and phone records, searching for any clue. My eyes scanned the screen, looking for patterns, anomalies, traces. But all I saw was a blank wall. No names, no faces, no evidence. Just a trail of blood and ash.

Vampires were going missing and someone was covering their tracks. Someone was fucking toying with me.

And I hated this overwhelming feeling of helplessness and cluelessness.

More importantly, I hated being the baron.

It was a title I never wanted, a title I never earned. It was a title that belonged to my father, a vampire that left me nothing but a cursed bloodline.

Hybrid vampires like myself were nothing but an abomination that should have been killed at birth or so they said.

But she hadn’t thought so…She hadn’t run away. She hadn’t judged. Saratan sang to us and cradled me against her. Dregen, she made us feel. It’s been what? Decades…?
