Arian's pov

I couldn’t stop thinking about the flowers.

Even as Kael drove us away from the cemetery, my eyes stayed on the window, but my mind was elsewhere. It was back at my mother’s grave.

Those lilies I laid down were still fresh in my memory, but it wasn’t mine that unsettled me. It was the other bouquet, the one already there, placed carefully, almost lovingly. Someone had been there before me.

But who could it be? My chest tightened as I kept thinking about it.

Uncle George? Could it be him? He was my mom’s brother, after all. Maybe he still visited, maybe he still cared enough to remember her birthday.

But… I doubted it. I haven't seen him since the incident. He barely crossed my path in school, let alone cared enough to drive all the way to the cemetery with flowers.

Then who else could it be? The thought gnawed at me, silent and restless.

“You’re quiet,” Kael’s voice pulled me back.

I blinked and glanced at him. “Sorry. Just… thinking.”

“About the flowers?” he asked, lik

Arian's pov When I stepped onto campus the next day, my first thought was to keep my head down. Blend in or pretend to be invisible. If no one noticed me, then maybe the universe would leave me alone. But of course, fate had other plans, because the very first thing I saw when I walked into the hallway was them.Kael, tall, broad-shouldered, everything I both admired and resented. And Hazel, the perfect girlfriend figure, glued to his side like she had every right to be there. It was like the photo had crawled out of my phone and into reality, standing in front of me.My heart stopped, then kicked violently against my ribs. I turned on instinct, quickening my steps, desperate to get away before they noticed me.“Arian!” Kael’s voice echoed through the hallway.Fuck! No, not now. Please, not now. I kept walking, pretending not to hear, but the sound of his footsteps closed the distance between us.“Arian, why are you running away?”Something sharp cut through me. I wanted to keep goin

Arian's pov I had expected him to come, but he didn't. Even if he didn't come immediately, I was still hoping he would make it to the library but he didn't. All night I waited, tossing and turning, waiting for his call or text or a surprise visit at most. But he didn’t come. He didn’t call either. Was this his reaction to the photo? Did he already regret sitting beside me and reading those lines like they were meant for us alone? As different questions swirled through my head, frustration gripped me tightly. I should stop overthinking but I couldn't help it. Kael is my first and making it work seems harder as I fall deeper for him. But what can I do if he was affected by that photo? What can I do if he finds it embarrassing? Nothing. I can only avoid him the way he ignored me too.So by morning, I told myself I was done expecting anything from him. But whenever my phone chimes on, my heart begins to race. And every second that passed without his name lighting up the screen made me

  • His Book club    Kael

Kael's pov I drove all the way to my parents house. A particular question has been eating me up since I followed Arian to the cemetery. As I stepped into the house, silence welcomed him. The house is always quiet unless there's an argument. Sure enough, she was seated gracefully on the long sofa, a teacup in her hand, her posture as perfect as always. She glanced up at me with mild surprise. “Kael. I wasn’t expecting you today.”“I wasn't expecting myself to show up either,” I said casually. “So what brought you home without me begging you to come?” she asked. “I needed to talk to you,” I said, my voice firmer than it should. Her eyebrows arched. “About what?”I hesitated, running a hand through my hair. “About the accident. The one… five years ago.”I saw her composure falter. The teacup clinked softly against the saucer as she set it down. “You never asked about it before. Why bring it up now?”“Because I didn't know who to ask,” I said. “You don't act like you know much about

  • His Book club    Kael

Kael's pov As Arian ran out, I wanted to follow him. In fact, I was already on the move before Hazel's hand stopped me. Gently, I pushed her hand away and left. But as soon as I got outside, April was already with him. I know April was his best friend but something stung me and a bitter feeling followed. It should have been me beside him but somehow, Hazel just always ruins everything. She caught up to me as I left the club room. “Kael! Wait!”My jaw was tight as I turned slowly. She had that sugary smile that always seemed more like a mask than anything real. “You’re not mad at me, are you?” she asked.“Mad?” I repeated flatly. She giggled, tilting her head. “Come on. Don’t look at me like that. It was just a joke. Everyone laughed, right? That’s what makes book clubs fun sometimes.”“Fun?” I said, my voice dropping lower. I took a step toward her, and for the first time, the smile wavered on her face. “You call that fun?”“It was a lighthearted moment,” she said.“Lightheaded?”

Arian's pov “Arian! Wait up!”I didn’t want to stop, my legs moving too fast, fast away from the embarrassment. But I knew April wouldn’t quit, she would trail me all the way home if she had to. “Arian, I swear to God if you don't wait, I'll kick your ass.” April shouted from behind me. Upon hearing this, I slowed, wiped my face quickly, and turned to her with a scowl.“What?” I snapped, my voice sharper than I meant. She jogged up, her pink hair flying out of its bun. “Don’t ‘what’ me. You just stormed out like the world was ending. Of course, you know I'll come after you.”“You shouldn't have,” I muttered, shoving my hands into my pockets. “Why are you overreacting? Why do you like taking everything personal?” She asked.“You saw what happened there… everyone was laughing at me,” I snapped, stepping away from her.April sighed, following me closely. “They weren’t laughing at you. They were laughing because Hazel knows how to stir drama.”“That’s the same thing,” I shot back. The

Arian's pov As I stood there, Hazel's piercing gaze met mine, and her eyes narrowed into a glare that could freeze someone's blood. The intensity of her stare was scary, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. If her looks could kill, I'd have been riddled with bullets, lying lifeless on the ground. The mere sight of her was enough to ruin my mood, and the warmth that had spread through me earlier. She didn't attend the meeting because I didn't see her, not until I caught her shooting bullets with her eyes. After glaring to her satisfaction, she masked her face with a fake smile and walked towards us. I wanted to run, maybe to just leave before she could reach me but my legs didn't move. “Kael!” she squealed, without hesitation, she threw her arms around him. Her perfume hit the air, cloying and sharp, suffocating the fragile tension that had been holding me together.Kael stiffened at first, then patted her back lightly, his smile forced. But she didn’t notice or maybe she didn’t
