Kael's pov

As always, Arian has a unique way of driving me crazy. I can't believe that in a short time, I've felt multiple emotions.

He wouldn’t stop rambling, words spilling endlessly from his lips, so I leaned in and stole a quick peck just to shut him up.

It startled him into silence, but only for a second, then he started again. “Did you do that to shut me up?”

Without a word, I caught his face in my hands and pressed my mouth to his once more, lingering this time, letting the kiss deepen until his voice dissolved completely.

“I don't like to talk too much, Arian,” I whispered after pulling away from him.

He scoffed, but couldn't say anything. His face was red from the warmth we just shared.

“So, now that you’re done being mad at me…can you come somewhere with me?”

He shot me a look, sharp and suspicious. “No.”

My brows rose. “No?”

“No,” he repeated, more firmly this time. “I have plans.”

That piqued my curiosity immediately. “Plans?”

“Yes.” He turned to reach for the handle,

Arian's pov “Arian! Wait up!”I didn’t want to stop, my legs moving too fast, fast away from the embarrassment. But I knew April wouldn’t quit, she would trail me all the way home if she had to. “Arian, I swear to God if you don't wait, I'll kick your ass.” April shouted from behind me. Upon hearing this, I slowed, wiped my face quickly, and turned to her with a scowl.“What?” I snapped, my voice sharper than I meant. She jogged up, her pink hair flying out of its bun. “Don’t ‘what’ me. You just stormed out like the world was ending. Of course, you know I'll come after you.”“You shouldn't have,” I muttered, shoving my hands into my pockets. “Why are you overreacting? Why do you like taking everything personal?” She asked.“You saw what happened there… everyone was laughing at me,” I snapped, stepping away from her.April sighed, following me closely. “They weren’t laughing at you. They were laughing because Hazel knows how to stir drama.”“That’s the same thing,” I shot back. The

Arian's pov As I stood there, Hazel's piercing gaze met mine, and her eyes narrowed into a glare that could freeze someone's blood. The intensity of her stare was scary, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. If her looks could kill, I'd have been riddled with bullets, lying lifeless on the ground. The mere sight of her was enough to ruin my mood, and the warmth that had spread through me earlier. She didn't attend the meeting because I didn't see her, not until I caught her shooting bullets with her eyes. After glaring to her satisfaction, she masked her face with a fake smile and walked towards us. I wanted to run, maybe to just leave before she could reach me but my legs didn't move. “Kael!” she squealed, without hesitation, she threw her arms around him. Her perfume hit the air, cloying and sharp, suffocating the fragile tension that had been holding me together.Kael stiffened at first, then patted her back lightly, his smile forced. But she didn’t notice or maybe she didn’t

Arian's pov I never thought a book club meeting could feel like a battlefield. Today, we are reading The Art of Forbidden by Linda Lively, and from the very moment I flipped through its pages, my face had been hot. The story is about a powerful president who was secretly in love with his male secretary, and if that wasn’t bold enough, the prose was filled with intimacy, longing, and heat.Naturally, everyone thought it would be for people to take turns reading aloud. But I wasn't really in the mood to read, not after what the police said to me. “Why don’t you boys try a passage together?” Maya said cheerfully, flipping the book open. “Yes, that's a good idea,” someone added. I wasn't really following until I heard it. “Kael, you’ll be the president, and Arian, you read the secretary’s lines. It will be wonderful to hear it as a dialogue.”My head snapped up as I heard my name. I glanced at Kael, who smirked like he’d been waiting for this exact moment. His posture was too rela

Arian's pov I didn’t go inside. I couldn’t. Instead of unlocking my door, I turned on my heel and walked straight back down the street, my feet moving faster with each step. I didn’t even think about where I was going until I found myself in front of April’s house.I hesitated at her door. I didn’t want to bother her, but the thought of being alone in my house with that note made my stomach twist. I needed… someone. And April has always been that for me.I knocked, hoping I won't be much of a trouble for her. She opened the door a few seconds later, dressed in oversized pajamas, her hair messy from a late shower. Her eyes widened when she saw me.“Arian? What are you doing here?”I swallowed hard, clutching the envelope like a lifeline. “I… I need to talk to you.”“Showing up unannounced has become one of your favourite things to do,” sarcasm dripped as she spoke. “I'm sorry. I just don't have anyone else.”Something in my voice must have alarmed her because she immediately pulled

Arian's pov I couldn’t stop thinking about the flowers.Even as Kael drove us away from the cemetery, my eyes stayed on the window, but my mind was elsewhere. It was back at my mother’s grave. Those lilies I laid down were still fresh in my memory, but it wasn’t mine that unsettled me. It was the other bouquet, the one already there, placed carefully, almost lovingly. Someone had been there before me.But who could it be? My chest tightened as I kept thinking about it. Uncle George? Could it be him? He was my mom’s brother, after all. Maybe he still visited, maybe he still cared enough to remember her birthday. But… I doubted it. I haven't seen him since the incident. He barely crossed my path in school, let alone cared enough to drive all the way to the cemetery with flowers. Then who else could it be? The thought gnawed at me, silent and restless.“You’re quiet,” Kael’s voice pulled me back.I blinked and glanced at him. “Sorry. Just… thinking.”“About the flowers?” he asked, lik
