77. Renewed Determination

“Declan!” Aren’s voice came from the opening flap of the tent. Urgency clear in his tone. Layana and Declan both sat up exchanging looks. What had happened, they could see it was barely dawn. There was no sound or commotion from outside either. Layana clutched the blanket to her bare chest, whilst Declan grabbed his trousers pulling his trousers on as he pulled open the tent, a frown on his face,

“A messenger eagle came for you,” Aren said “With the royal crest… of her majesty,”

His gaze flitted to Layana, who was clutching the blanket to her naked body making him blush before he quickly looked away and at Declan, who instantly realised there was more to it, he took the small note that had been tied to the eagle’s leg, frowning at the small insignia. It wasn’t one he had seen before, realisation struck, and he looked at Layana who was watching him curiously.

“We’ll see you outside soon,” Declan said, Aren nodded moving away from the tent opening.
