FAZER LOGINThe stench of dried piss and copper hit Cesare the moment he stepped into the basement. It was thick enough that he briefly considered a mask, then dismissed the idea.
He wanted his mouth free to speak and sneer without pulling away anything.
“Is he there?”
He reached the bottom of the stairs, meeting up with his right-hand man Andrea, who stood close to a beaten-up man sitting on a seat.
Cesare's smile was slow, a cruel, twisted one.
“Yes, boss.”
“I can see that. You did well, Andrea.”
“Thanks, boss.”
Cesare went to stand before the man. Swollen eyes, busted lips dripping blood. His nose leaking a few drops, some few tears and scars on his face.
He didn’t look more handsome as Cesare pulled black leather gloves from his back pocket and tugged them on.
“I don’t want to dirty my hands with your filthy blood, Alessandro. I just finished touching my woman. The feeling of her soft skin is still on them and I don’t want you to taint them.”
A low, broken grumblings eased from the beaten-up man before him, but Cesare paid him no mind as he snapped his gloved fingers.
“Can I get the pliers, Andrea?.”
There was a brief shuffle of tools then the heavy weight of the pliers settled into Cesare’s palm. He held them up between their faces.
“Do you know what this is?”
Alessandro gave no answer. Cesare snickered.
“These are pliers, Alessandro. I’m going to use them to pull out your nails. Then your teeth. One by one.” He crouched so they were eye level. “How does that sound to you?”
Alessandro mumbled something incoherent, head lolling, trying to force his swollen eyes open. His body shook against the restraints.
“What was that?”
Cesare leaned closer, as if genuinely interested. He lifted one of Alessandro’s loosely hanging hands and positioned the pliers around a fingernail. With a sharp, deliberate motion he ripped it free.
Blood welled and ran over both their hands.
Cesare smirked.
“Beautiful. Your blood, I mean. Spilling. I need more.”
He moved to the next finger and tore out another nail. Alessandro howled, thrashing against the chair, trying to yank his hand away.
“Choke him, Andrea.”
Andrea stepped in with a rag and forced it into Alessandro’s mouth, cutting off the sound. Tears and sweat mixed on the man’s face as his head whipped side to side in agony.
Cesare laughed under the wet, tearing sound of the pliers. He kept going until Alessandro’s body finally went slack and he passed out.
Cesare dropped the limp hand and stood. He tossed the pliers accurately onto the table behind him and looked down at the unconscious man.
“Shitbag.”
He stepped back, meeting Andrea’s eyes, then glanced once more at Alessandro.
“When he wakes up, continue from where I stopped. Keep going until he passes out again. Don’t let him rest. If you get tired, call one of the boys to take over the same way. Understood?”
“Yes, boss.” Andrea dipped his head. “What if he dies?”
Cesare’s smirk returned. The man could die, of course. But that would be too easy. This was only the beginning. The real work hadn’t started yet.
“Feed his body to the dogs at the warehouse.”
He would not let Eliana catch even a trace of what happened down here. She had been kept sheltered from this side of his world, even if her curiosity sometimes pushed too close.
He intended to keep it that way. She was too clean for this. Too delicate, no matter how hard she tried to act strong.
“Yes, boss.”
Cesare looked at Alessandro one last time, then climbed the stairs. He stepped into the hallway and shut the basement door behind him. Marble tiles gleamed under the lights as he walked back toward Eliana’s room.
He pushed her door open. The room was dark except for the soft moonlight filtering through the sheer milk-coloured curtains she had insisted on having in her room and the lamp she had switched on.
Everything was exactly as he had left it.
He moved forward, the door closing with a click sound. He shouldn’t be here. There were many things he needed to go back to, but he couldn’t leave without seeing her. He didn’t know when last he would touch her like he did this night.
He crossed to the bed, bleached-blonde hair spilled across the pillow like a halo. He watched the slow rise and fall of her chest, the soft sound of her breathing.
Bending down, he kissed her lips, lingering for a second, then pressed another kiss to her forehead.
“Sleep tight, baby. I’ll be back soon.”
He left, closing the door quietly behind him, and walked the short distance to his own room on the same floor. Inside, he pulled out his phone, scrolled to the right contact, and tapped it.
“Hello—”
“Get the jet ready.”
“Yes, boss.”
Cesare ended the call and exhaled. He was leaving to put things right. But he would return.
Soon.
PRESENT TIME“Young Sir said I cook a healthy food—”The soft voice of the housekeeper halted as Eliana descended the stairs. They stood in the living room—the soldiers and the housekeeper, who looked like she would rather be anywhere but there, standing and explaining whatever she was talking about. As their attention fell on her, their gazes didn’t slide away from her face. They wouldn’t dare look at her body. The last man who had done that had traced her body with an impish smile and revolting eyes. That had been the last time he had seen her and smiled. The guilt was misplaced because she didn’t know what to feel for him. What would he have done if he hadn’t been killed? Or if Cesare hadn’t noticed the way he looked at her that day? Those questions had flitted around her head a time or two, but he wasn’t here now, and that matter was off the table. She had a bigger fish to fry.Taking the last stair, she came to stand not too far away, close enough to hear and speak with them. Sh

Cesare’s lips parted in a groan as Eliana’s sharp little cries filled the room, rising and falling like a frantic orchestra. The high notes still lingered in the air, leaving him either wound tight or floating. He looked down at the woman in his arms. Her body was lax, trusting, letting him drive them both higher. She always trusted him with her body. He bit down on her neck and tore at the collar of her top with a frustrated growl. The fabric was too tight.“Where did you get this shit? Too tight. Can’t get to your neck,” he hissed. His hands slid up and down her thighs, greedy, needing to touch every inch of her. She was intoxicating—her voice, her breath, the way she smiled even when she was exhausted. He felt himself close, but he refused to finish before she came at least twice. He quickened his pace and slipped his fingers between their joined bodies, finding her clit.He rubbed her with precise, practiced strokes. She moaned, back arching. She had been wet the moment she walk
“Such a good girl.”Cesare’s hand slid up her leg to her thigh, sending a shiver through her body. Words rose in her throat but she forced them back. He wouldn’t listen anyway. She whimpered, crystal eyes glistening. Her skirt was too short. She regretted choosing it, but there had been nothing else to wear when her friend dragged her out to the club.“Ce…”“Shhh, tesoro.”He stroked her thighs, groping slowly, until his fingers skimmed the apex of her legs—close enough to her panties that she whimpered again. The alcohol from the club made every touch feel sharper. His fingers glided over the damp fabric without giving her real pressure, just light, deliberate flutters. She moaned. He knew exactly what he was doing. He wanted her desperate, tears in her eyes, begging for his fingers. She was already soaked. Even in the low lamp light he could see how the white lace she had thrown on in a haste was darkened and clinging to her.Sweat beaded on her forehead. When his knuckles finally
Last Night“You’re Late”Eliana heard his deep voice resonating through the room before she could even drop her bag onto the nightstand. The lamp was off, leaving the room cloaked in darkness, but she could recognize that voice anywhere, anytime. As she moved farther into the room, she made out his silhouette standing at the far end, near the entrance to her en-suite bathroom. What he was doing there, she didn't know, and those two words were a statement even though they sounded more like a question—a power play, a reminder of who was in charge. An illusion meant to make her believe she had any power at all. There was no reason for him to question her when he could get his answers with a snap of his fingers from anywhere. He only wanted her to feel as though she had a choice when she had anything but.“I told you I would be late, didn’t I?”She flipped on the lamp, and warm light spilled across the room. It wasn’t particularly bright with the lamp on his side still off and the ceiling
Yawning, Eliana scrubbed her eyes as she stretched her body. Her waist made a small sound as she tried to find a comfortable spot on the bed. Her head pounded so hard she had to hold it, scared it would drop right off her shoulder.“Jesus.”She dropped her head back onto the pillow and used her arm to cover her eyes from the glaring sun coming through the curtains. The sun was hard and filled her entire room, which was enough to tell her it was already noon. She yawned again, but it strained her head. She sighed and quit yawning altogether, forcing herself to sit up. Looking at her bedside table, her eyes searched for a glass of water and a pill, but found none.Cesare must have forgotten, or he simply didn’t inform the housekeeper about it. She wasn’t trying to feel entitled, but anytime she had a hangover there was always a pill and a note with a quick scrawl telling her to drink, rest, and not go out that day.But today there was nothing, and the house sounded so quiet she could fe
