Emily made a decision that frightened her more than being pregnant by the time morning came. She finally decided to inform Damian. Not immediately. Not over the phone either.

She was determined to look into his eyes as she expressed herself.

She stayed motionless at the edge of the bed for a while, considering everything that had happened since the evening at the Langford Grand.

Her union with Ryan had fallen apart.

She had abandoned the existence she had formerly thought would endure indefinitely.

Damian had then appeared in her life.

She was pregnant with his baby at this point.

Emily placed her hand on her tummy.

"I must inform him," she murmured.

She had no idea how Damian would react.

However, she could not keep it from him anymore. She took her phone and decided to text Damian. His name was still at the top of her call log

She wrote:

Could we get together today? I have something important to say to you.

She looked at the message. After typing that, she deleted it.

She had to calm her nerves before texting him in order not to screw things up.

___

Olivia was eating breakfast by herself on the other side of town. She had spent the night thinking about Damian.

Emily had also entered her thoughts.

Olivia acknowledged something she had previously refused to admit for the first time. She no longer owned Damian.

The epiphany was painful.

However, Olivia was not the kind of woman to allow agony to rule her decisions. Two years ago, Damian broke up with her. After the break up, she took some time to develop herself. She rebuilt her life and established a life that wasn't dependent on his reputation.

However, one area of her remained unchanged.

She still wished Damian would look at her the way he had before. And that was what made her so dangerous.

Not as a result of her wanting vengeance.

She knew how much she used to mean to him.

She looked over at the empty seat that was opposite her. She had once imagined Damian occupying it. She realized she had to let go of that thought.

However, she wanted something before she could genuinely move on. Closure.

Not retribution nor competition.

Only closure. And Damian was the only person who could give her that.

___

Emily finally went into the living room that morning. Sophia looked up from her phone for a while and said , "You look different today."

"Did you get any sleep?" Asked Sophia.

"Just a little bit," Emily replied.

Sophia scrutinized her. "Are you all right?"

Emily nodded and said, "Of course."

"I've been thinking about Damian," she said as she sat next to Emily.

Sophia's expression changed.

"What about him?" She asked.

"I feel like I need to speak with him,"  Emily said. "Regarding what?" Sophia asked.

“I have decided to tell him about the pregnancy,” she responded.

"Do you want me to accompany you?" Sophia asked.

Emily replied, "No." "I have to do this in my own," she replied. "You should do it then."

Emily took out her phone.

She didn't delete the message this time.

She slowly wrote. I need to see you, Damian. I have something important to say to you. Her finger remained over the screen. Then, she clicked "send."

The message was delivered immediately.

Emily's heart began to beat quickly.

She put the phone down.

She had made the first move to inform Damian for the first time since discovering she was pregnant.

____

When the message arrived on his phone, Damian was in his office. He gazed downward. Emily. He opened the message. His expression changed.

He read it again.

I have to tell you something important.

Damian immediately started thinking about what could have occurred. He reached for his phone.

Another notice appeared before he could respond. Olivia was the sender this time.

We have to speak one more time.

Damian studied the two statements.

Two ladies.

Two utterly distinct aspects of his existence. Both of them wanted to see him. He slid back into his seat.

For the first time, it crossed his mind that the two talks may be linked in some way.

He then re-read Emily's statement.

He started writing his response on his phone. Let me know where and when.

Emily received the message after a few seconds.

She began to tremble. She had already come to a conclusion.

Now, all that remained for her was to summon the nerve to inform him that she was expecting his baby.
