Chapter 4

Author: Ori
Back in my dorm, the door shut behind me, sealing out the cold air in the hallway.

I leaned against it and drew a deep breath. My body still carried the lingering exhaustion and peculiar sensations after the medical assessment. It was a constant reminder of what had just happened.

"Aria? You're finally back!"

Lily Chase looked up from her bed, half-buried under balls of yarn and herbalism textbooks. "Serafine's throwing a party at her place tomorrow. You're going, right?"

"Of course."

Her green eyes were full of concern when she noticed the medical assessment report I was holding. "Did you get your medical assessment? How did it go? Is everything alright?"

When our eyes met, I instinctively tightened my fingers around the collar of my gray robe.

"Well, it was fine," I murmured, my voice dry. I then turned toward my bed, pretending to tidy my desk as an excuse to avoid her gaze.

"Oh, did you meet Dr. Goliath at the health center?"

I twisted open a bottle of hazelnut-flavored energy drink and took a small sip, answering with a vague hum.

"Oh my god, you're so lucky, Aria!" Lily exclaimed, filled with awe. "He's the most notable wolf among the entire younger generation of the Northlands. He originates from an ancient bloodline and is powerful and good-looking!

"He's been interested in medicine since he was a pup and would rather not inherit the position of Alpha just to work as a healer at the health center… It's such a shame that the last time I went for a medical assessment, I waited forever and didn't even see him anywhere."

Deep down, I thought to myself that meeting Kael was anything but lucky.

"What's weird is that someone as powerful as him doesn't even have any rumors surrounding him. Plenty of she-wolves tried to make advances on him back at the academy, but he politely turned all of them down."

She shrugged, and a curious glint flashed in her eyes. "Honestly, I wonder who could ever win him over."

"Who knows," I replied too quickly and subconsciously rubbed the cold glass bottle. "Maybe he's just putting on an act at the academy.

He was no gentleman. What happened in the assessment room was something I couldn't tell anyone.

Lily leaned back, looking a little disappointed. But soon, she drifted back into daydreams about the mysterious he-wolf.

That night, I fell into a restless sleep.

I dreamed of a boundless white snowfield beneath a pale sky. Snowflakes slowly drifted and landed on my hands.

A tall, warm figure hugged me from behind, his arms circling my waist and his chin resting on the crown of my head.

He nuzzled my hair. When he lowered his head, his warm breath brushed across the tip of my ear. He chuckled softly and whispered into my ear, his breath turning into white mist in the cold air.

In the dream, I laughed and playfully tackled him into the soft snow. He rolled over and pinned me beneath him.

I closed my eyes as he leaned down to kiss me. His lips were soft and sweet.

When I looked up, I found myself looking at Kael's gentle, smiling face.

Shit!

I bolted upright in bed, my heart racing. Sweat clung to my temples. The dorm was dark, filled only with the sound of Lily's even breathing.

Damn it! Why would I even dream about Kael?

Sleep had abandoned me, and I fumbled for the phone by my pillow. The screen lit up with a faint blue glow.

3:27 am. There were two unread notifications quietly sitting on the lock screen.

Kael Goliath has sent me a text message.

"There are some details in your medical assessment report that need confirmation. Regards, Kael Goliath."

The message was sent at 2:09 am. He was everywhere like a ghost.

While I hesitated about whether to accept, my body reacted, and I accepted it.

What a terrible day.

I tossed the phone aside in resignation and lay back down. Staring at the ceiling, I started counting sheep and hoped it would bring sleep.

Just as drowsiness began to pull me under, my phone buzzed. A new message popped up on the screen.

"Good night, Aria. We'll meet at the usual spot tomorrow at 9:00 am."

  • His Exclusive Care   Chapter 7

At the hospital, Mom sat hunched on a bench and cried soundlessly.I wrapped my arms around her trembling shoulders and looked at Dad lying in the hospital bed. "I'm here, Mom," I whispered.Late that night, I hid under the covers and calculated our family's future expenses, which included our daily living costs, Dad's medical bills, and the money needed to reconstruct the store. The figures were staggering. The patrol squad would officially take me in next month. That meant I only had a few days of freedom left, and within this limited time, I had to find a way to earn as much money as possible.Through Lily, I found a morning shift gig at a restaurant. On my third day, Mason's friend, Ricky Murray, barged into the restaurant I worked at with several he-wolves in tow. He crashed into me on purpose and knocked over the bowl of hot soup I was carrying."Well, isn't this Aria Scarlett?" Ricky and his lackeys surrounded me and put on a fake act. "How careless of you to spill the

On Saturday, I returned home from the academy.Afternoon sunlight streamed through the kitchen window and cast warm patches of light onto the checkered tablecloth."Eat up, sweetheart." My mom, Marie Snow, added another spoonful of stew to my bowl.I smiled in protest. "I can't eat anymore, Mom. If I keep this up, I can't even run during training.""In that case, run a few more laps," my dad, Rufus Scarlett, chimed in. He looked up from his ledger and slid his glasses down his nose. "How's training going?""Pretty well," I replied and picked at my food. After a brief hesitation, I asked, "Oh, and Mom, Dad… before I got hurt two years ago and lost my memory, did I ever mention… anyone strange?"The dining table went quiet for a beat."Anyone strange?""Well, it's like this… I-I've met someone recently."I chose my words and carefully continued, "I don't remember him at all, but he seems to know me very well…"Mom set down her spoon and said, "For a few months before you got

I paced outside the gates of the health center for a while before finally gathering the resolve to face Kael."You look like you didn't have a good night's sleep."Kael, the culprit behind my sleepless night, sat across from me and slid a cup of hazelnut coffee my way."No, thank you," I said, wanting to get this over with quickly. "Could we please discuss my medical assessment report, Dr. Goliath? It's really important to me.""Were you injured before?" he asked."Yes.""How did it happen?"I shook my head in response. I had no recollection of what had happened. "If there's nothing else, I'll get going now."I didn't want to talk about it, but Kael was oddly fixated on that past injury and grabbed my wrist."Please let go—"Suddenly, there was a knock at the door followed by a young woman's voice. "Dr. Goliath, are you available now?"I pulled free from his grip and hid behind a nearby curtain. "Yes," Kael replied. "How may I help you?"Peering through the gap in the cur

With a soft click, the leather straps binding my limbs were removed.Freed from restraint, I slumped in the assessment chair and felt so weak I could barely open my eyes. I clutched the blanket draped over my body. Its thin fabric outlined the humiliating curves of my body. Shame pressed heavily against my chest, and I turned my head away to avoid Kael's gaze.He said nothing. After a brief silence, I heard the soft rustle of fabric. Kael picked up my discarded gray robe and linen petticoat from the floor and walked up to me. Then, he reached out with the same hands that had just violated me.I snarled at him, but he ignored my warning growl and began dressing me, fastening the buttons one by one. His movements were steady and meticulous; there was nothing overtly intimate in them.It felt purely procedural, like he was restoring a tool to its former state. Every now and then, his cool fingertips brushed against my collarbone or the side of my neck.I stayed rigid and let him

I felt as if I was drifting, my head heavy and muddled. A blurry figure hovered close and gently wrapped his arms around me."Aria," Kael murmured, resting his chin lightly on my head. I could feel the warmth of his body, but he soon pulled away. When I regained consciousness and could finally open my eyes, I found myself staring at Kael. His expression was calm and gentle.I tried to sit up but found myself strapped to an assessment chair with my wrists and ankles bound tight. Worse, I was wearing nothing but my bra and underwear."Damn it!" I silently cursed."What are you doing?" I shouted and tried to shift, but failed. Ignoring his identity, I bared my teeth and let out a guttural growl as a desperate warning to stay back."Stop," Kael said calmly. "I'm just trying to clear your abnormal blockages so you're fit to enter the patrol squad."He stepped closer and snapped on the medical gloves as he spoke. My resistance seemed to have pricked his pride. He leaned in deliberat
