On Saturday, I returned home from the academy.

Afternoon sunlight streamed through the kitchen window and cast warm patches of light onto the checkered tablecloth.

"Eat up, sweetheart." My mom, Marie Snow, added another spoonful of stew to my bowl.

I smiled in protest. "I can't eat anymore, Mom. If I keep this up, I can't even run during training."

"In that case, run a few more laps," my dad, Rufus Scarlett, chimed in. He looked up from his ledger and slid his glasses down his nose. "How's training going?"

"Pretty well," I replied and picked at my food.

After a brief hesitation, I asked, "Oh, and Mom, Dad… before I got hurt two years ago and lost my memory, did I ever mention… anyone strange?"
