"Alpha, the pack's in a riot! Cato and Sixtus are manipulating them to revolt against you. They are currently marching here. They've sworn to kill you!"
Lorenzo's eyes darkened but he stayed calm, forcing his angry wolf to stay calm too. He could hear the angry howls and noise of his pack members. They were close.
How ungrateful were they? He had protected them and scared off intending enemies for the past half decade since he took over the role of Alpha from his father. They never lacked anything, not food, not wears, not money, not resources, nothing! But then a few sleazy bags chants rubbish to them and they turn against him and even threaten to kill him!
His wolf stirred uncomfortably, whimpering in pain.
It wasn't hard for him to end them all but they were his pack and he had a tight bond with them and though he hated to admit it, he had a slight fondness for the pack he had grown up in.
His wolf was in pain at the betrayal and unfortunately there was nothing he could do. Sitting up, the cigarette in his hands landed on the ashtray, still burning.
"Let them come." He ordered, turning his dark gaze to Antonio who subtly flinched.
"Let them come." He repeated, "Gather them outside but let no one enter, the punishment is death. I'll speak to them myself. And send someone to the pack hospital to guard Raphaela."
Antonio bowed and immediately rushed out to do as told. Everyone in the pack thought Lorenzo ruthless, the other packs called him the Alpha of death but no one actually knew how dangerous he really was... Especially when he was betrayed.
********
"We want him out! We want him to come out! Coward!"
"No alpha Lorenzo! No alpha Lorenzo!"
"I'll rather let my two year old pup lead the pack instead!"
Loud cheers and mocking laughter followed.
"Today marks the end of Alpha Lorenzo!"
"Kill him!"
And chants of 'kill him!' continued.
Two men could be seen far behind, evil smirks on their faces. Cato and Sixtus.
Let's see how Lorenzo gets out of this one, they thought.
The mammoth crowd pushed and pushed but none could get past the armed warriors standing guard outside the pack house.
Some were beginning to get impatient and started transforming, angry howls filling the air.
Antonio paced restlessly inside the huge ancient Villa that was the pack house. His restless pacing came to an abrupt end immediately a familiar scent filtered into his nostrils. He stood guard at the door, stiff with tension.
Alpha Lorenzo soon sauntered into the entry.
The crowd outside went mad immediately, any wolf could vividly recognize the scent of their own alpha.
"Open the doors." Lorenzo ordered.
Antonio obeyed swiftly, pulling the double doors open with immediate ease.
Alpha Lorenzo stepped out, dressed in nothing but black pants and a pair of black calvary boots. His eyes were black with fury and his stance threatening. His presence spelt power and danger, his aura weakened the knees of his opponents and so as soon as Alpha Lorenzo stepped out into the sight of his pack, their roars ceased and their shoulders and knees trembled.
No one could compare to him. No other Alpha inspired so much fear and adoration, respect and awe.
Alpha Lorenzo waited a few minutes, minutes that had everyone holding their breath in fear, but he didn't hear any of the sound of protest that had been disturbing his rest.
He folded his arms, his gaze sweeping across each and every wolf stood against him, registering their faces and names.
"I was called out because my pack members wanted me dead. I'd like to know who those are."
His tone was bone-chilling, sending shivers down the spine of all present.
No one made a sound or even a move.
Lorenzo's gaze moved away from his pack members, and zoomed far into the distance, to the two culprits hidden behind a shrub. Cowards.
"Get them for me." He mind linked Antonio who immediately disappeared.
Seconds later, the two were thrown on their knees down to the dust.
"I've made my reputation" He announced, loud and clear, "and everyone knows me as heartless and unforgiving yet you're foolish enough to revolt against me."
He turned his gaze away from the traitors just as an arrow made its way to him.
"Nooooooo!" A girly scream resounded.
"Protect the alpha!"
A body jumped in front of him in time and the arrow disappeared, the body went down.
"Kayla!" Someone else screamed, rushing to the fallen body.
Lorenzo's eyes narrowed, his eyes focused on the bleeding wolf on the ground. He could have easily dodged the arrow, why did she risk her life for him?
"It's poisoned! The arrow is poisoned! She's dying!" The second she-wolf shouted, causing the shocked guards to spring into action.
Lorenzo already smelt the burning flesh of the she wolf and knew that she wouldn't make it. The concentration of monkshood in the arrow was too high for an alpha to handle, not less a normal she wolf. The culprit had obviously meant to kill him.
"Kayla, stay with me! Kayla, please... Kayla!"
Cato laughed mockingly, "Poor alpha is so helpless."
"We have to get her to the clinic, quick!" Antonio ordered, picking the she wolf up in his arms but he suddenly froze.
Everyone felt it, the heart wrenching pain, the fading away... The she wolf was dead.
Lorenzo's wolf howled within and his heart ached. The loss was like that of a parent losing their child, it was horrible.
Plus the she wolf had also been a warrior and she had risked her life for him without hesitation.
The pain grew into a blood thirst.
In a flash, he disappeared into the crowd and back in seconds, the perpetrator's neck in the claw of his hands.
"You traitor." He spat, his eyes glowing flames of hatred.
"Please spare me, please spare me..." The youthful wolf whimpered, cried and begged, "It was a mistake, it was in a moment of anger... Please spare me."
Lorenzo wasn't listening.
He straightened, holding the wolf up in his claws, blood rolled down his arm.
"You know the punishment for killing a fellow pack member!" He bellowed, "I won't spare anyone that doesn't have a spirit of loyalty!"
In the next second, Lorenzo plunged his hand into the wolf's chest and ripped out his heart.
The crowd gasped, terror filling their hearts but they should have known the consequences of their actions before undertaking it. Two wolves were dead because of them.
The pain wasn't as bad as the first wolf, he had been a traitor after all.
The dead corpse was dumped and the heart beside it.
"Let his body serve as food for the vultures and beasts."
Lorenzo turned his gaze back to the now cowering Cato and Sixtus.
"Lock them up."
"No!" Sixtus sprang up immediately, "I should be Alpha! My father was supposed to be Alpha before your cursed father murdered him. That throne rightfully belongs to me!" He yelled ferociously.
Lorenzo's brows quirked up, "Is that so?"
Sixtus smirked, "I challenge you to a duel. Three days from now. You'll have to battle Cato and I since I alone cannot match your alpha strength..."
The whole pack combined couldn't match his strength.
"... We battle to death. If you win, you keep your little alpha chair, if I win, I take it. Deal?"
Antonio wanted to rip his mouth off. Where did his death warranted bravery come from?
Lorenzo smirked, "Deal. Lock them up."
"You..."
"Or I kill you right now."
The guards dragged them away. Lorenzo felt slightly better, his wolf couldn't wait to rip their hearts out.
"Dismiss them and deal with the dead wolf." He mind linked Antonio.
He turned and disappeared into the pack house just as quickly as he came, leaving behind his mark of terror and awe.
Cato and Sixtus did intend to capture Raphaela like Lorenzo suspected but as usual, they always underestimated the strength of a she wolf. Even in her sick state, the two wolf assasins were dead in seconds before the guards Antonio dispatched arrived. They could only dispose off the bodies. She lay in bed, reading a book, seemingly calm and well in contrast to the dying feeling she felt on the inside. The pack doctor was doing her best but the wolfsbane she had taken in was fatal. It was a surprise she only suffered from weakness and hallucinations. And it frustrated her that all her hallucinations were about a certain man.Who suddenly appeared. She sniffed in blood."Who did you kill this time?"Lorenzo hadn't gone to his room after dealing with his pack members but to Raphaela, all bloody and angry."Didn't you feel it?" He sat by her bedside, his head dropping unto her lap."A little. I'm currently too weak to feel or hear
Raphaela's eyes opened in a blur. It took sometime before they adjusted to the sunlight filled room. She was in her bedroom. Memories of the previous night flooded her kind and she grimaced. She searched through her bag which Julien had been thoughtful to keep by her bedside for the hidden herbs."Three leaves a day. Chew carefully and meditatively."She breathed out before folding one of the bitter herbs into her mouth. An hour later, she was out of her bedroom after brushing and taking a bath. Her house was gleaming clean and smelt nice. A walk into the kitchen gave her Julien in an apron squeezing fresh oranges."You shouldn't be on your feet." He rushed to her and guided her to a stool. She watched him calmly. Julien had always been a cold and aloof man, he had been that way for the first three years they had been working together but then later on, he relaxed a little around her and began showing her signs of care.
Raphaela held his gaze calmly."Julien, I'm sorry."A pained look flashed across his face before he became as calm as usual. He suddenly laughed."My first heartbreak, I'll definitely remember you forever, Raphaela." He smiled gently at her.It only made her feel more guilty. In fact, she began to consider it. They would make a good couple. She could never have Lorenzo and even if she could, she could never be with someone as selfish as he was. It was time she moved on from her past. But gazing at him, she couldn't do it. She could never love him the way he deserved, they were far too different, from different worlds, they would never work. And perhaps, what scared her most was the thought that one day, she might lose control of her wolf and end up tearing him to pieces. That lingering threat was ever constant in her mind.Julien looked up and met her gaze."You don't need to pity me. Even if I can't have you, I'll still keep l
She was a feminine beauty to behold, the perfect Luna material. She was slim and elegant, tough and ferocious like the warrior she was. Their eyes clashed and locked, surprise and admiration flickered through her beige brown eyes but he felt nothing. Not pain, not regret, not love, nothing except a burning thirst for revenge. His gaze shifted to her new mate who stood tall and proud in the middle of the duelling ground. The audacity... He strode leisurely to them, seeming not to notice the bows and trembling that followed as he passed through the gathered people. "Alpha Aurelius, I'm sure you know the price of what you've just done." He said threateningly as a form of greeting once he got to them. Alpha Aurelius smirked, golden curls fluttering behind his head. He was the ladies man. "I won't beat around the bush, Lorenzo. I'm here to take over your pack." Lorenzo's brows went up. "I have my warriors sur
Loud collective gasps followed, Antonio sprang up from his seat, the Silvermoon head warrior froze in shock, Davina had a complicated look on her face while Aurelius stood victorious. "Come on, Lorenzo!" He taunted, "Aren't you the famous Alpha of death!? Come on, get up!" Lorenzo spat out blood, his nails clawing through sand. His vision flickered between various shades of grey and pure white. He clawed his way to his knees, heaving as angry chants filled the air. Just as he got on all fours, Aurelius smashed him back to the ground. "How does it feel to fall at my feet, huh?" He laughed mockingly, squatting down to Lorenzo's bloody face, "How does it feel to lick the dust at my feet?" Aurelius grabbed a handful of dust and threw in Lorenzo's face. Lorenzo choked, coughing heavily, struggling with all his might to get up but he was too weak, his eyes were burning and he felt like his intestines were being twisted and chopped simultaneously. Wo
Lorenzo struggled up, swaying and staggering. He was blind, he was partially deaf but he was driven by a greater pain, a pain for blood, blood of revenge. "Come on, throw your puppy punch." Aurelius laughed, dodging easily as Lorenzo swung a weak punch at him. He stood tall and proud, not a single scratch on his tanned skin. Another weak punch and Aurelius slammed his foot down on his head, sending him crashing down again, his brain buzzing. "Come on, Alpha! Is this how you lead your people!?" ********* Raphaela got closer and closer to the Silvermoon pack and with her shared mindlink with Lorenzo open, she sensed more and more his weakness and pain...and hatred. Was his hatred directed at her? The connection was weakening. Meaning only one thing... She travelled faster. *********** Davina sat cross-legged watching the bloody scene in front of her. She couldn't wait f
"His condition is fatal but it's a bit easier since he is an Alpha. He was poisoned with a very powerful herb, Staphicocci, very probably thirty minutes before the duel began. The herb is rare, very rare and very dangerous, I'm surprised how whoever got their hands on it. If it was a normal wolf, they would be dead by now; infact, they wouldn't have lasted past an hour but he's an Alpha and a very strong one at that, that's why I said it's a bit easier. I've managed to drain out much of the poison but there is still a bit more in his blood. That's very dangerous. If I don't get it out in twenty four hours, he'll die. Alpha or not."Raphaela listened to the pack doctor, Emily; a middle aged woman; in a daze. He'll die..."Dialysis" She spoke up feverishly, "The human world. They do it for their patients with kidney problems. We can do it, right? Drain out his blood and inject him with new blood."Emily seemed like she was considering it before a complex look cros
"Golden lights, golden lives;Warriors today, princes tomorrow;Your legacy lives on in our hearts; We part today, we meet tomorrow;Free of pain and worries to follow;May your joy never end;Beati Bellicosi."Fire touches were lit while the whole assembly of Silvermoon pack stood solemnly with their heads bowed. Antonio stood at the head, Raphaela beside him and Valentina; the girl that had run out to save Kayla, the she wolf who had risked her life for Lorenzo, Kayla's cousin; stood with them with tears in her eyes. The Silvermoon head warrior and other elders of the pack stood behind them. All holding fire touches. But their Alpha was absent, unconscious in the hospital. The bodies of their fallen heroes, the wolves killed during the duel, including Kayla's body, were laid out on separate bamboo beds on the lake surface. They were nineteen in number. The night was bright, stats glittered a
