Cara was enjoying that moment but she quickly reminded herself her true purpose for coming.

"Listen, Chris. Just cut the crap. I'll be on my way once Jolina is back with my stuff. Bear with me till Tuesday, and you'll never have to see my face again." She said to him with a stern face.

"You think this is funny, right? That you can bring a complete stranger into our matrimonial home! Because to me, we're not divorced yet."

Romeo had been warned by Cara not to say anything all through but that didn't mean he couldn't chuckle from time to time.

Chris walked forward to him, "and what has been funny to you?"

"Well, you talk all about me being in your matrimonial home and yet, this woman just walked out here from your matrimonial room, or am I wrong?" Romeo said in a playing tone.

"How dare you!" Chris spat out but Cara quickly stepped between them.

"Alright, knock it off, Chris! We're done here." Cara said. "I'm being decent here by letting you two enjoy your happy life together. Don't make me lose my cool."

Jessica scoffed. "It's so cute thinking someone like you can threaten us. Lose your cool? How will you do that?"

Cara smiled to herself. "You keep forgetting that we used to be friends, Jessica. I know all of your deepest darkest secrets and just how you and Chris are not compatible. Do you want me to accidentally say more?"

Jessica blinked, feeling a bit tense. But she decided not to show it. "You must be delusional to think that, ha! There isn't any secret that Chris doesn't know of. And what is most important is that Chris and I love each other."

“Is that so? Well there wouldn't be any reason for you not to go with Chris to the hospital for a paternity test, right? That's if there's even any baby in that tummy of yours.” Cara said.

“Paternity test!” Jessica flinched. “Why would Chris need any DNA test when he is the father! We trust each other and I would not lie about this. I'm not like you, Cara.”

“Then we'll go to the hospital tomorrow and bring back our test results so I can prove to you on Tuesday how wrong you are.” Chris said.

Jessica didn't hear him well. “What?” She scoffed. “You don't think I'm lying, do you?”

“If you're not, the hospital will be able to reveal that clearly. So there's no reason to be worried.” Chris said to her.

Jessica's eyes widened but she hid her worries with a weak smile. “Of course!”

"Oh look, they're here with your stuff." Romeo, who was already smiling, announced as three of the maids came downstairs with boxes of Cara's load.

"You're right. We should leave now." Cara said. Two men came with Romeo, took the bags and were arranging it in the car. Cara went after them with Romeo behind her, helping to arrange even though she knew they could do it perfectly fine.

She just needed the smallest excuse to walk away from the drama with Chris and Jessica.

Jessica couldn't let Cara win like that. Besides, there was Chris who kept pacing around like a mad man!

"Hey Chris? You're not actually thinking of letting this go, are you?" She said and he stared at her with such a blank look. "I mean, Cara is insulting you here. She even brought home her lover."

"The truth is, ever since you and her were married, she always complained about how she dislikes you and your habits. So she started seeing someone."

"What? That's nonsense. Cara wouldn't have cheated on me." Chris shook his head.

"I never told you because of the respect I have for Cara. You see, she has done a lot for me, so I didn't want you to see this side of her. But Cara has been cheating on you before, um, us." Jessica said.

Chris frowned so hard that his whole face was a mask of fury. "What did you just say? You're telling me the truth, aren't you??"

"Of course. I'm telling you the truth because I love you. Don't let any of this get to your head. Cara is so heartless so don't feel any pity for her at all." Cara said.

Instantly, he stormed over to Cara and yelled her name for attention. Jessica was beside him already.

Cara sighed and rolled her eyes. They had already packed all the bags in the car and were about to leave.

If what Jessica had been saying was the truth, then Chris needed to punish Cara at once. It was very humiliating for a woman to cheat on her own husband!

"From now on, I will take away all of my investments in your dad's company." He said, and Jessica wimped.

"But my love! She needs your investments, else the company will crash." Jessica spat out dramatically.

The truth was that Cara had been expecting this move from him. Her dad managed an insurance firm that was already going bankrupt anyway. If Chris withdrew his investments, then the company would fail for real.

Jessica knew about this and was doing it on purpose to ruin her.

"And I won't pay any money for alimony. Do whatever you want, but since we've been married for just two years with no kids, I'd like to see how your attorney will help in this condition." Chris threatened.

Cara swallowed. Her confidence was getting reduced by the minute and she could see Jessica's faint smirk, which only made Cara more furious.

Romeo stepped forward, his strong stance dominating Chris’ in an instant. There was a flow of aura around him that seemed to make her feel at ease. Suddenly, she was glad Romeo was on her side and not against.

"You see an Armani standing right here, and you think you can threaten Carina where I'm standing?" He scoffed in disbelief. "You really are a jerk, aren't you?"

Cara decided to trust Romeo, despite telling him not to say a word earlier, since, now she was the one tongue tied.

"She's my wife. And I have the right to--"

"Ex-Wife." Romeo corrected. "And do whatever you wish, it's your pathetic life anyway." He turned to Cara with a smile resting on his face. "From this moment on, you have all of the Armani as investors in the company."

"And you also have my full support. With my family's connection, I'll provide trustworthy vendors and business contacts, and make sure the company stands firm. You'll be the greatest insurance firm in the whole of New York, soon." Romeo made his promise flow so smooth that you can tell he would do just as he had said.

Chris tried to talk but he didn't know what to say. He felt ashamed that he had even uttered threats to her in the first place. And Jessica? She could only stare in shock. Envy filled her eyes as she despised the fact that Cara had someone like Romeo beside her when she was supposed to suffer alone!

"In fact, let's postpone our trip, Carina. There's someone I'd like you to meet." Romeo said.

Cara looked startled. "Oh, who is that?" Cara asked, still staring at Romeo with puzzling glare.

"Mr. Michael Knowles." Romeo said.

Chris froze, trying to understand what Romeo had just said.

Cara blinked. "Mr. Knowles?" And Romeo nodded with pride. "Why would we want to meet him? He's Chris's dad."

"Because he's going to be one of your investors too." Romeo said.

  • His Greatest Regret    He Knows

Mr Marcus Armani was quiet, he had not heard her words loudly and didn’t make any comment because he believed that she must have been talking to herself. He took a sip from his drink and placed it back on his table. She cleared her throat and looked up to him. She was met by Mr Armani’s gentle gaze. She felt hesitant to speak but she just had to ask the question on his mind. “Uhm… Mr Armani, I’m sorry to disturb you with such annoying problem but I have a question to ask you. I need an advice.”Mr Armani was focused. “It’s no issue at all. What would you like my advice on?”She sat up with her back straightened and cleared her throat once more. “I have this… friend and this friend of mine is having issues with her relationship. She recently got engaged to her boyfriend and they are really in love with each other. • His Greatest Regret    Wedding Dress Fitting

The morning air was cool on her face, her nausea had surprisingly disappeared without a trace. Maybe if she had stepped out earlier, she would have felt better. The feel of the breeze playing with her hair and spreading kisses all over her face was more than relaxing. But Cara still felt nervous because she did not know what to expect from the outing she was going. What the outcome would be would only be known to the time travelers. As for her, she would just have to attend it to find out. She had arrived at the golf course faster than she had anticipated. Well, there was no going back now. Whatever would happen would happen. Several others dressed for the environment were around, enjoying simple games with friends and families. Some even plain strangers challenging each other's skills. She did not spot Mr Armani anywhere though. She looked all around the room. So she had to walk up to an attendant-- a young blonde female helping refill balls-- and she spoke as nicely and softly

  • His Greatest Regret    Let's Play Golf

Cara spent the next few days in the comfort of her home, not bothering to go to work or even go for her pregnancy check up. Her doctor had reached out to her due to her absence and Cara simply said she would visit when she could. She stared at her phone all day, wondering when Romeo would finally call to check up on her. But nothing came through. Not even by accident. Were they really over? She wondered. He asked for a break not that they should cancel their wedding right? Speaking of their wedding, she did not even know if it was already canceled. She could not know anyway, Romeo's parent had taken full charge of planning the entire event and simply told Cara and Romeo to relax. All they had to do was to be there on that day. That day having being a few days away, anxiety was a small word to describe what Cara was feeling. She did not know whether to reach out to him first and ask if they were still getting married. How stupid would that sound though? Or nonchalant and not even

  • His Greatest Regret    An Ordinary Ring

Those were the exact same words she had said to him just now, to take a break, so why was she so heartbroken? Why did she feel a sudden chill snake up her back? Why did she crumble to the ground? Why was it hurting her so much? Tears trailed down her eyes freely, her heart beat like it was about to explode, it was not built for such pain. The way it made her feel, watching him walk out on her and slam the door without looking back, she was at the edge of losing her mind. Her heart was soon to explode. "Come back..." She mitered softly, hoping he had not left. Hoping he was still by the door outside, hoping he was only waiting for a second before walking back in and engulfing her in his arms. "Come back to me..." She muttered softly. She strength to even speak any louder than that had evaded her. No matter how hard she tried to reach for it, it kept slipping out of her grasp. So she remained on her knees, tears washing down her face like heavy rain, heart as burdened as ever, soul

  • His Greatest Regret    Time For A Break

Romeo took Cara home later in the evening, she had been silent all through the ride and it was to his notice. As they arrived in the living room, he was supposed to turn back and leave, after all, Giovanni was still waiting for him. They had some catching up to do. But instead, he sat her down and sat next to her. "Is everything alright? You did not say a single thing all through the ride back home." Cara had been lost in her own thoughts but she was thankful that he had noticed it. She sat up properly and asked him, "did you hear what your mom proposed to me today?" Her voice was soft. "The merger?" Romeo's brow arched as he asked her and she nodded her head in response. He continued. "Yes I did, what about it? I wasn't really paying attention to her." Cara let out a soft sigh. "Well you know enough to know what her proposal was. Why do I have to merge my company with yours?" "It's not that you have to, it's just something that seems like the right and normal thing to do." Rome

  • His Greatest Regret    A Simple Merger

Cara despised pettiness, so she despised herself for what she did next. "Remember, Jessica, that bug could still be around here." She hinted at Jessica's ugly secret. Jessica knew what she was saying and fell quiet. She clenched her fist in anger. Cara continued. "If it pleases you that I leave the room, I will, just know that whatever Romeo decides is of his own choice and not mine." Jessica still did not say anything. Tori shook her head, "that's absolute nonsense." She touched Cara's hand softly. "You are the new woman in the home of the Armani, every decision taken shall be in front of you. We are one. You can counter his words if you wish, or you can comply. Whatever you do will be accepted because you are a part of us now." Cara responded with a soft smile. "Now," Romeo started off in a tone that rose with authority, "back to your case. My decision still stands, same as it was before. The Knowles family has been with us for a while now, sure, but ever since power was switc
