ANMELDENCara froze, she couldn't move. Hearing those words pinned her to a spot. She could have sworn she heard Giovanni's voice over the phone, saying things that probably mattered, that were probably going to be important, relating to what he had said, but she didn't hear a single word. She was in the room but wasn't there. Her mind had been carried away by a wave. Why was she the only one being attacked for being happy? Why was everyone out to kill her? What exactly was her offense in particular? Cara flinched softly as a hand touched her leg. She blinked, realizing where she was. "Giovanni, I'll... I'll have to call you back." She finally uttered, not hearing a word from what he had been saying. "Cara, I really didn't want to tell you cause I didn't want to get you scared, but Romeo, he--""Giovanni," she said, cutting him off, her voice carrying weight. "I need to hang up now. Call Romeo, he's free now. Something came up here too, he can answer your calls now.""Okay. I'm sorry for
Cara couldn't even believe what she was doing. She had the house carer go out with her that morning to a boutique and assist her in picking out some clothes for Jessica. She and Jessica wore almost the same size, from shoes, clothes, and even down to underwear. That made it a whole lot easier for her to shop for her. Jessica's size was just a little bigger but looking at her now, she knew they would wear the exact same size of clothes. She had a bunch of clothes in her walk-in wardrobe, a lot more that she doubted she'd ever wear, but she'd rather give them away than let Jessica wear them. After picking everything out, she went back home to drop everything off. Mrs Armani was already around to help take care of Alice. Cara didn't have time to explain the whole Jessica situation to Tori so she hoped Romeo would do the explaining while she was gone and if he didn't, they'd talk after her therapy session. Standing alone with Jessica in the guest room, several bags lined the floor,
"You want me to spend the night?" Jessica asked, eyes widened beyond shock. Cara's brow arched. "Would you rather go out there by this time of the night and risk having your throat slit? You really can't try to pin that blame on me if anything of such happens." "I won't try to pin anything on you anymore. It would be on me." Jessica let out a sigh. "It's just that I didn't drive all the way to the city just to see you. I also have an important business I came here to do." Cara stared at her, lost somewhere between confusion and amusement. "What is so important that it cannot wait till morning? Your safety isn't even guaranteed in the morning when there's day light but you'd rather go out in the night where any fucking body can come at you and you wouldn't even see it?" "I didn't know my life was at stake when I made my schedules! Don't blame me." Jessica pouted. Cara let out a scoffed laugh. "You're unbelievable. Fine, go out and die. If you manage to survive, come back in the mo
CHAPTER 59SHAME OVER DEATH Jessica was quiet, from the look on her face, it was obvious that she was searching for a comeback. But her vicious tongue had run out of venom to spill. She swallowed, looking everywhere else but at Cara's face. She cleared her throat but didn't say anything. She remained silent and sat on the sofa, hands rubbing against her thigh. Cara fell into her seat with a soft sigh. She let her eyes fall close and rubbed her weary head. She hadn't even realized when she had gotten to her feet, Jessica was really stressing her. At that moment, Alice started crying from upstairs and another sigh escaped her mouth except this time, it wasn't soft, it was heavy with fatigue. Romeo got to his feet before she could, "I'll check on her, she probably just needs a gentle pat back to sleep.""Can I..." Jessica spoke up but the moment eyes were on her, she felt intimidated. She gripped onto the fabric of her dress. "Can I... See her? In person...? Please?"Cara breathed
Romeo's phone lit up as it started ringing, Giovanni displayed on the screen, indicating who was calling. Without thinking twice, Romeo picked up the phone and flipped it face down on the table top. "Answer it, it could be important." Cara said to him. He shook his head. "Probably a work call, I'll call him back. Besides, nothing is more important than this." Cara sighed and didn't push further. Jessica sat down still yet impatient, waiting for them to finish their silent conversation so she could speak. As their eyes turned towards her direction, she spat out immediately. "What do you mean by what you said? I'm not safe? Explain to me again. How do you know this?" Cara let out a soft sigh. "I can't believe what I'm about to say but calm down Jessica, we're here and you can't be hurt as long as you're with us. We'll protect you."Jessica let out a panicked laugh. "Are you fucking with me right now? Protect me? I'm your arch nemesis! Don't even try to pretend to be nice to me. J
Giovanni tapped the screen of his phone to live, a finger hovering over a particular number. But then at the last minute, he flipped the phone over on his table, letting out a sigh. He had been doing this for a while now. He just couldn't make up his mind. "Should I call her or not? Is she still mad at me for leaving? What can I do to make it up to her? Why hasn't she reached out to me if she still cared?" All those questions poured out of him one after the other. There were many more but he decided to swallow them instead. He picked up his phone yet again, asking himself if he should just make the call. But the screen of his phone lit up just then and it was an unknown number. He stared at it confusedly for a second before deciding to pick up. "Hello?" "Hello? Am I speaking to Giovanni?" A feminine voice said from the other end of the phone. He could have sworn he recognized the voice, but then again it was still unfamiliar. "Yes, sorry, who is this? I don't have your number
“Did you hear? The hitman, your friend's ex boyfriend right? He's been sentenced to twenty years in prison.” Romeo said to Cara. He waited for a response but didn't get any. When he stared closely at her, he realised that she was there but her mind was elsewhere. He placed a hand on hers as he ca
As she had all of their attention in the grasp of her hand, she took out her phone and played a recording. Murmurs immediately filled the hall at what they heard. It was none other than Sarah Knowles, begging Jessica not to let her secret be known that Chris was not the son of his father and that
Micheal was silent for quite some time, the words played around in his mind and refused to stop. Meanwhile Jessica stood there, satisfied, watching all the emotions play out on his face. Just what she wanted to see. She hit him playfully on the arm, "what are you thinking about so seriously?" She
Cara stared at her phone, beyond confused. Who could ever do such a thing to her? Why would someone write something so disturbingly annoying about her? What even made her more disheartened more was that it all sounded so true. Whoever wrote it fixed the pieces where they were not built for but mad
