Mason gently laid me on the backseat of his car before shutting the door behind him tightly with a slam making me almost jump off the seat. I looked outside to find the duplex already engulfed in flames. I turned to my left and right and saw many of Mason's men. They were much in number and they all had guns and weapons on them. I watched as the almost nothing from the duplex burnt to the ground. Nothing was left and my heart picked up a fast pace seeing the entire burnt up duplex being taken down to the ground into nothing but sticks of bricks by the ruptured rising flames. I imagined if Mason hadn't arrived on time then I wouldn't be alive right now. A ball of saliva formed and hooked beneath my throat at the thought of that. I darted to the front and saw him talking with one of his men leaning against his car before I froze when he turned around to stare at me. I immediately looked away leaning and resting my back against the backseat. I hissed on trying to move my legs but the
Mason kicked open the front door with his left feet while carrying me in his arms. He walked in and I was welcomed with a gushing of lovely fragrance filling the air. The interior was even more spectacular. Lots of antiques on the big display shelf by the right corner of the living room. A large aquarium was built like a sectioning wall between the massive living area and the long hallway leading to the stairs, dining area and kitchen. A large LED TV display hanged on the marbled gravel grey walls. The paintings on the wall were all grey and looked rustic with the edges of the walls from the types of bricks used. I was beginning to think whether Mason was just obsessed with the colour grey and black because anywhere he took me, it always either had grey or black as the main colour. “It...looks lovely.” I whispered still ogling around the interior of the beach mansion while clunging both my arms around his neck tightly. “I haven't been here in years.” Came Mason's reply making me s
I arched my back in response to his sudden lips against mine. They felt warm and cozy that my mind became a bit hazy for a brief second. His kiss was so longing and his arm went to round my back giving me a little pinch forcing me to open my lips. He struck his tongue into my mouth without any wastage of time. I had to press myself back feeling a bit of pain again at my back as Mason kept on clashing his body against mine putting his weight against mine. I closed my eyes and trying to keep up with the fast movements of his tongue but couldn't. I had to put both my hands on his chest to push out a safe distance. I was beginning to loose my breathing and forced him away from my lips a few inches apart. We both were panting at this point and I gazed at him with my lips parted to suck in oxygen. I swallowed hard before asking him why he was doing this. What was he thinking to suddenly plant a kiss on my lips without any warning or issue. After trying to catch my breath to normal I eyed
I heaved a long sigh as the silence continued to be crashed out by the heavy rain outside hitting the glass claddings and windows continuously. My eyes were now hurting as tears filled them. Having to recollect all those hurtful memories since my breakup with Christian to having gotten married to Mason. It was a painful one that my chest churned everytime I thought about it that I couldn't stop tears from forming in my sockets. I couldn't even remember when last I was genuinely happy with my life and where I was. I could recall vivid images of my time being happy with mostly Celine and a bit of my closest friends but it was a long time ago. I didn't even have their contact numbers anymore. My stomach sank even more realizing for the past two or more years that I haven't been happy with my life. It was only about trying to pretend with a forced smile that I didn't even know what it felt like to smile for real. The silence continued without any word except for the rain not wasting it'
“Don't you dare yell at me woman!” Mason hallowed out frowning and portraying his face to be that of a ruthless ravaging beast ready to attack me. I wasn't scared of his death of hell glares. I was used to seeing them and I knew that he always had that angry expression on just to scare me but right now I wanted answers. I needed answers. Why he saved me was still bugging me in my mind and now followed by the sudden kiss he gave me. I wouldn't say it was unpleasant but rather...surprising. “You can't keep me quiet right now with your angry face. It won't work this time. Answer me Mason! If am just the same eyesore wife you once thought of me or are still seeing me as that....” A lump formed down my throat. “You have to answer me right now Mason! I want to know where I...”I gasped and shot my eyes wide as they both stayed fixated against a pair of fine greyish eyes. His gaze was deadly intent and focused as if searching through my soul. He had reached in front of me in only three long
“How do you feel right now?” Emma asked me. I winced softly on the comfortable bed. It was a four poster bed and looked so elegant with patterned designs on the bedsheets. It was alluring and matched with the some sort of weird patterns on the curtains. I wouldn't lie. It was a lovely design. I knew Mason to always bring out the best of artwork in all his residence. I smiled facing Emma. “Am hanging in there with the pain.” The pain had long subsided after Emma applied a heating balm on my back. I knew she wasn't an expert in the field but I could only trust my truth with her as only she knew and no one else. “You know I was very shocked when your husband called me to have your broken spine checked on. But then I wondered what was the reason and... I think I know the reason.” Emma folded her hands tightly shoving her fingers past her upper arms as they rested against her chest. She cocked an eyebrow. She eyed me suspiciously.I licked my lips trying to avoid her suspicious stare do
Mason's POV Why was I feeling this way? The unanswered question kept pricking my brain every second. The kiss I shared with her still lingered in my septic senses. Her lipmark still stuck to my lips and her body sent filled through all the parts of my clothes. Fuck! I loosened my tie before gulping a shot of beer. I hated how we left off with a fight but hell she fucking slapped me across the face.No one had ever dared to hit me. Not even my idiot dad or mom. I even hated myself for getting upset and lashing out at her. The look on her face which always had fear for me didn't sit well with me. I used to love making her fear me and see terror in those brown eyes of hers but today I couldn't help but get my chest tight and my stomach flipping over. It wasn't a good feeling at all. I raised my two fingers in front of the bartender to fill my glass up again while my head did give me a slight warning of my drinking habits. I turned around still seated on the stool and watched the club b
The rain wasn't stopping. My heart was beating so fast with worry. I was loosing it and out of my mind seeing the storm outside and all the havoc it was causing outside. I had tried Mason's number through the land-line but couldn't get through. It stopped working after the reception was cut off by the bad weather. Now I was sick with worry and the storm outside wasn't making me feel at ease. I tried Diana's number but she was clueless about Mason's whereabouts. He hadn't called her in hours and I knew no one else to call or talk to. I had none of his friends' contacts. He was pretty upset when he left and I knew he didn't always think straight when he was upset. I hoped he wasn't found drinking at some bar. I hiccuped getting seriously worried for him. I was pacing back and forth in the living area. I left my half eaten toasts with ice cream on the kitchen island. I had no appetite but worry filling my stomach. I held my chest trying to calm myself down. My breathing was becoming to
