"Wait for me, mate."

Right after he sighed upon her ear, Amelia suddenly opened her eyes.

She found herself lying in her teenage bedroom back in her old packhouse. And familiar noises of chatting and laughing were coming from outside the door.

The light in the room was off, but the ceiling could vaguely be seen by the dim light that leaked through the gap under the door.

She laid there on her bed motionlessly, feeling her heart pounding violently like a drum.

Her marriage with Ian and the hellish tor/ture in the wheelchair was now flashing back in front of her eyes like the most horrifying nightmares. But Amelia knew it wasn't nightmares but the most realistic life she had just lived in person.

Then what happened?

Why did she suddenly wake up in her teenage bedroom in her old packhouse? And why was she suddenly able to move?

It may sound crazy, but Amelia now indeed felt her fingers. She curled the fingers of both her hands into fists without much effort. And then she slowly propped herself up from the bed, and surprisingly found that she was back to normal.

"Mom! Dad!" She shouted in ecstasy, jumped off her bed, and then rushed out of the door.

The packhouse was exactly as she remembered, filled with the warm smell of fresh cedars. Those pictures hanging in the hallway, and scratched doors leading to different rooms were exactly the same as in her memories. Even the creaking noises coming from the worn-out floor under her feet were the same.

Amelia rushed into the pack's kitchen on the second floor. She knew her family would gather there at this hour of the night.

"What happened, Amy? Why are you running so hastily?"

The people currently in the kitchen were all surprised by Amelia's sudden appearance. They turned their heads and stared at her with confusion in their eyes.

The pack's Luna, Amelia's mother Doris, was the first who reacted. She stood up from the chair beside the huge long wooden table in the middle of the kitchen, and then walked towards Amelia with an impatient frown, "You looked pale and sweating. Are you ill?" She then placed the back of her hand on Amelia's forehead to test the temperature.

Amelia was about to speak before she suddenly got a glimpse of a horrifying figure sitting at another side of the table.

It was an extremely handsome male wolf with a pair of deep grey eyes and a head of short black hair. He was smiling at her, looking charming and polite, but Amelia’s heart got wrested under his soulful stare.

It was her gruesome husband, Ian.

He was right there with her family with a perfectly deceptive smile on his face. His seat was right beside her father because he was the pack's best warrior. Along with him, there was Amalia’s big sister Donna, the Beta couple, and many other important grown-ups of the pack.

This scene somehow was familiar to Amelia like she had seen it before, but Amelia now was too shocked to think deeper about it. The unpredicted appearance of Ian had struck her thrilled heart back to despair. She felt that she was suddenly dropped from heaven down into the most appalling hell.

What’s going on here?

Surely her sudden recovery was strange. But why did Ian appear again in front of her? And why was he here with all of her family, even her already-married big sister?

Was this another evil plot designed by him? Or was this the beginning of another round of cruel and endless tor/ture?

Amelia felt she was on the verge of meltdown.

"What happened, Amy? You are shaking."

Noticing Amelia’s weird reaction, Doris asked her daughter with another deep frown. Amelia was a beautiful girl but she couldn't be counted as a real wolf. Doris's patience and love for her were never much. That's why Amelia flinched on telling on Ian.

Ian was an orphan but he had always been Amelia’s father's favorite wolf. Even without marriage with Amelia, he would certainly be the next Alpha. If Amelia accused Ian of drugging her, it wouldn't be convincing without solid evidence, and she was too scared to tell right in front of him.

"Are you okay, Amy?"

Noticing she was in an unusual mood from the fear in her eyes, Ian stood up from the chair and then walked towards her.

He pulled her hands into his and then kissed her beautiful slender fingers. There were genuine worries in his intoxicating deep grey eyes.

Amelia totally froze under his concerned gaze like she was targeted by a vulture.

She knew clearly Ian was faking, but still, she had no idea why he was doing it. Her body couldn't help but shake seeing his fraudulent smile. She  was afraid to find out what Ian would do to her this time.

"Amy must have been worn out because of the preparations for her wedding. It happens to a bride."

Suddenly, another familiar voice came from beside the table, and it was Amelia's big sister, Donna. She folded her arms on the back of her chair, smiling at Amelia with a wicked wink of her beautiful left eye.

She was younger than Amelia remembered, as before she had her child.

Out of the blue, Amelia recalled, these people, the scene around the table, had already happened once in her life. Amelia remembered clearly it happened on one of the tense nights before her wedding with Ian.

And she also recalled. At this time, the pack hadn't been attacked by the rogues yet.

So what was happening here? Did she suddenly return to the past? Or was this simply a weird dream, a disgusting, lowly joke?

"Baby, are you tired? Do you need more sleep?" Her facial expression was mixed with fear and confusion, which made her husband-to-be start to worry. Ian whispered to her softly, gently stroking her hair.

That familiar touch of his hand aroused goosebumps all over Amelia's body. She couldn't help but pull away from him. It took all her courage to look at him, and then she asked him with a frightened voice, "We are not married yet?" She was on the verge of collapsing but her question triggered a string of loud laughter in the kitchen.

The audiences were amused by her.

"The bride can't wait!"

"What a lovely couple!"

"They would be so happy together."

Each sentence was like a sharp knife cut right into Amelia's heart. To her surprise, Ian was amused too.

"I have never known you are so eager for me," he bent over, whispering, cold lips brushing through the skin of her delicate ear, "I am eager for you, too, baby. I can't wait for you to be my wife. And then I will do so many unspeakable things…only to you."

Normally, his whisper like that would burn Amelia up with shyness and some ridiculous expectations. But this time, there were only fears creeping into her heart. Tears welled up to the rims of her eyes. Amelia was totally stunned at this unexpected situation.

She was somehow sent back to her 19 to one of those horrifying nights before she married Ian. It may seem like the Moon Goddess had given her a second chance to change her fate, but Amelia knew it wasn’t like that.

It might only be one of her ridiculous dreams that emerged from her deepest desperation. And even in her dreams, she still feared Ian.

"Let's take you back to your room. It's only three days away from our wedding. I promise the time will pass soon."

Brushing a lock of her hair gently to the back of her ear, Ian held her trembling hand to his and then escorted her back to her bedroom.

The light in the hallway was dim. Amelia kept her head lowered all the way. She saw their shadows overlapping into the most intimate one on the floor. When they arrived at her bedroom door, Ian bent his neck to kiss her lips like he always did when they said goodnight to each other.

Amelia dodged him this time and it was a surprise to her.

She had never had the courage to go against Ian.

Ian was surprised for the same reason. He lifted his brows with displeasure, "What's going on, baby?" He placed his arms beside Amelia's ears, completely locking her into his territory.

Amelia was in a fluster. She was the weakest in the pack and wasn't even a real wolf. Before tonight, she didn’t even dare to think about defying Ian. Still, she somehow mustered her courage this time.

"What if…" She looked up into his deep grey eyes under his intimidating gaze. Tears filled her beautiful brown eyes, "What if…we don't get married?"

When she said that, her face was pale and her lips were trembling. Tears rolled down from the corners of her eyes. And her voice was shaking with fear. Ian knew instantly there was something wrong with his future wife, but he was too proud to care.

"There is never an if, baby." He brushed his thumb across her beautiful cheek to wipe off her tears, "You're the love of my life. We are fated to each other. I swear you will never find another husband except for me."

He printed a passionate kiss on her trembling lips and then sent her into the bedroom.

Before closing the door in front of her, he mouthed “good night” to her with a satisfied smile.

Nine’s POVUp to today, I still couldn’t fully comprehend why I stopped for that teenage girl on that day.It was one of the coldest winter nights in this strange country, chill, dark, and the iciness was just seeping under your skin. There was no wind that night, just snow, flake by flake, but in quite large sizes, falling off from heaven.I walked aimlessly in the thick snow on the street. The melted mud soiled my furs on my legs. There weren’t many street lights either, just cars and scarce passersby running past hurriedly. I heard loud music and laughing noises coming from those colorful stores on both sides of the street. It was still early in the night, but the street was so dark and quiet like it had been devoured by the demon.I walked haphazardly on the sidewalk, eyes fixed in the air, mind wandering restlessly. It was the 60th day I arrived in the city. As always, I found no one even slightly looking like my aim. It was quite disappointing, but I didn’t think much about it.

  • His Innocent Luna   Part 2 Bonus (Darren & Amelia)

After today, they would head back to their home and start a new life.Amelia said “No” when he asked if she wanted to visit her parents with him. Darren knew the reason. James and Doris were just the most ignorant and stupid couple he had ever met. Harm would be the only thing they might have caused Amelia if there was a reunion. He wrapped his coat a little tighter because of the autumn’s cold wind, then quickened his steps to the outside of the village. The sky’s color was sullen yellow today. While he was still far from their car, suddenly he saw Doris standing beside it with Amelia. His heart clenched. He then ran toward

Three years ago, right after Darren took all his property from the Wolf Committee, Ian showed up at his front door later that day with a heavily wounded face. He wants me to be dead!”James patted his back and sighed, knowing it was the ending of his and his pack’s glory. Still, he had this tiny expectation left in his heart that maybe someday, Ian could find a way to defeat Darren and regain everything. He was a smart kid, and had always been. And, he was the heir of the most powerful pack, Green Lake.At that point, James could hardly tell. Did he adopt Ian out of his condolences to hi

“Mom, Dad, Emily….”He drifted back to his childhood in that cold, suffocating lake water, reliving everything that was so treasurable and amiable for him….When he was sinking, the lost memories of his slowly grew back piece by piece. He remembered how his sister fell from the cliff on the exact same day, and how Roy caught him in the lake, then took him to a secret chamber underneath it. That’s how he survived.“Hope you can have a normal but happy life, kid.” Roy sighed and wept beside his bed, then did something to his wounded eye. He couldn’t remember.Next, another surge of hatred and fury overwhelmed him.Now he could see clearly how he and his sister saved that wounded rogue boy in the forest, but got betrayed and attacked by him.“Fuck you! Adam had no idea why he agreed to help Mia. Mia was just an orphan he picked up from the street 10 years ago. A girl who had grown up, but refused to leave. When he told her that she was free to go at any time, she just said, “You need someone to take care of you, Master. And I am that perfect someone”, and then stayed as his maid.Adam didn’t try to persuade her. He didn’t even talk with her that much. He wasn’t a passionate person, had never had too many emotions. During the past 600 years, he had witnessed the death of too many people. For him, people were just things, or even less than things. Because things can last and stay, while people change and decay so quickly. No matter what kind of lives they have, or how reluctantly they behave, the endings of them are just the same. They will all die eventually, being buried into the earth soundlessly, and then quickly dispersed into nowhere.Years later, sometimes even days later, no one would ever remember them. Only he, the outsid

  • His Innocent Luna   Chapter 56

The moment Amelia heard that she felt her blood freeze. She quickly turned her head and then looked towards the castle, then saw Jovian grabbing a young girl in uniform by her throat, dragging her to the window. It wasn’t the girl who served food for them tonight, but Mia. The torch dropped on the floor had ignited the curtain beside the window, the whole place was about to sink into fire.Jovian giggled at the window, tightening his grip on Mia’s throat, “Guess what I will do to her, baby brother? I am going to eat her alive, starting from the fingers.” He reached his other hand to Mia’s wrist and broke it off like it was a chopstick. Mia screamed out of pain, but it was quickly cut off by the hand on her throat. Her face instantly turned purple. Tears streamed down from the corners of her eyes.“Or I am going to rape her right here and dismember her. You hate that kind of thing, don’t you, little brother? I hear you deprived a wolf for a human girl.”Adam’s face turned pale. Ameli

  • His Innocent Luna   Chapter 55

When Amelia headed back, the temperature within the manor had suddenly dropped. The whole place somehow went into dead silence. Ominous coldness infiltrated her skin. Amelia kept her footsteps light, eliminating the sounds she made to the minimum. Way before she made it to the castle, she had already heard that cocky male voice laughing and shouting from inside it.“Where are you, Adam?”“Come to meet your big brother!”“It has been 70 years since the last time we met. Don’t you want to treat your brother to a drink?”His tone was both playful and vicious, sounding like provoking a fight or seeking conflicts. No matter who he was, his visit here was definitely not kind.Amelia quickly climbed up to a huge maple tree outside the castle. She hid herself on a branch under those lush leaves, observing the castle, trying to get a peek at what was going on inside. From the opened window on the façade of the building, she saw an average-height figure wandering through the hallway on the se

After going back to the castle, they said “good night” to each other.Adam parted with her in the lobby. He didn’t want to frighten her by escorting her to her room.Amelia took the elevator and went back alone. After entering her room, she loosened her hair first and removed all the ornaments Mia decorated on her. After that, she picked out one of her own dresses from the closet. She didn’t wear it. Instead, she wrapped it around her waist and then shifted. The castle was high, but the second floor wouldn’t be a problem for a deft wolf like her. She pushed open the window using her paws, and then jumped out through it.The dirt underneath the window was soft, tinged with the mixed scent of different kinds of plants. Amelia stopped there for a second to identify the direction. And then she moved her legs and sprinted. She was heading towards her mate who was guarding her outside those tall grey walls. She just had one of the greatest nights of her life. She couldn’t wait to share it

  • His Innocent Luna   Chapter 53

Adam had made plans for tonight.Long before he asked Amelia to Switzerland with him, when he was still in her bakery shop typing, writing, and observing her, he had already decided what he would do to her once he brought her here. When the night came, he would invite her for dinner for sure, but before that, he would have her dress like a princess, even make her wear a splendid wedding dress. After she cried throughout dinner at the table, he would “ask” her to dance. In the company of the beautiful symphony of Shubert, he would flirt with her, tease her, and even terrorize her by pretending to bite her. “I am going to transfer you to a vampire,” he would whisper in her ear, gliding his sharp teeth through the soft skin of her delicate neck.Amelia would be so scared, and then she would run and hide.He would chase her through every single room of this huge castle, having some weapons and exits prepared for her, giving her fake hopes now and then, but quickly push her back into deep
