“Mate.”

The moment she heard that word, Amelia felt her heartbeats stop. She was the Alpha’s daughter, but she never got her wolf. Theoretically speaking, it was impossible for her to find a mate. That’s one of the reasons why she was so touched when Ian asked her to marry him.

Even after her 18th birthday, Amelia still couldn’t shift. Except for her parents, all her packmates mocked her and questioned her true identity. Someone even gossiped about her being an adopted human. Only Ian stood by her determinedly and told her he would marry her no matter what.

Amelia indeed felt happy and lucky by then. After Ian’s proposal, she completely forgot about the mate thing. Back then, she thought nothing in the world could compete with the love between her and Ian, not to mention “the mate” which was so far and distant from her like a myth.

But now she indeed felt it.

Even though she couldn’t move, speak, or even blink her eyes. She felt something different was approaching her from her back.

No footsteps, just light breaths.

Amelia heard that someone or something walked into the living room slowly and steadily. He stopped behind her wheelchair first, sniffing her scent carefully, and then walked into Amelia’s eyesight at an extremely low pace.

It was not a man, but a wolf, a huge scary grey wolf with a blind left eye.

The moment Amelia saw him, her heart sunk to the bottom. She wasn’t disappointed by the wolf’s appearance but was scared by his identity.

Amelia recognized him to be the notorious rogue Alpha, Darren, and she knew he was her pack’s biggest enemy.

Two years ago, right before her wedding with Ian, Darren launched an attack on her pack and killed half of her packmates. That’s the main reason why her father moved their pack here to live with humans.

Since then, Amelia had never heard from Darren again. She had no idea why he suddenly appeared in her apartment, and she had no idea why he suddenly addressed her as his mate either.

“Mate,”

After circling her wheelchair for a few rounds to check her status, the big scary wolf sat in front of Amelia. He looked into her empty eyes with his lonely green eye. And then he growled that word to her once again.

Amelia had no idea what finding her mate would feel like. She knew from others’ experience that she might smell the most amazing scent from him. But now, she felt nothing and smelt nothing. She had no idea how this scary big wolf verified her as his mate.

Yet, the wolf waited for her response.

He stared at her, whispering and insisting, “Mate, mine…” but Amelia was unable to answer.

After minutes of long, desperate silence. The wolf finally accepted the fact that she wasn’t going to speak. He lowered his eyelids with a grieved sigh, and then moved a step forward to put his big head on her thighs.

It was surprisingly warm, soft, and gentle.

The moment they touched each other, Amelia felt sparkles. All those pains, despair, and fears which filled her heart were swept away. Amelia wanted to cry, but this time, it was because of the happiness which abruptly welled up from the bottom of her heart.

“Mate.”

She had no idea how this could be happening, but she whispered in her mind to respond to him, feeling sad that she wasn’t able to touch him. The wolf must have had the same feeling to her. He whimpered in her embrace, rubbing her stomach gently with the top of his head.

“I am so sorry,” he groaned, and his voice was hoarse, “That bastard Ian set me up. I can’t shift for now, so I can’t take you out of here. But wait for me, mate,” he l/icked Amelia’s cold hand gently to offer her some comfort, “I am going to let that bastard pay for what he did to you. And I will help you recover,” his throat growled with anger.

Amelia felt genuinely happy at the moment. She wasn’t thrilled because the wolf promised revenge for her, but because he didn’t ditch her even after finding out she was now basically a dead person.

The endless tor/ment Ian applied to her during the past six months had extinguished all the hopes inside her. Amelia now had no strength to seek revenge, anger, or even help. She just wished the gentle warmth beside her hands could linger.

Don’t leave.

Don’t go.

Don’t leave me here alone in despair.

Amelia cried and begged so hard in her mind for her mate to stay with her, but after the desperately short-term cuddle, the wolf stood up from the floor.

“Wait for me, mate,” he leaned forward to her emotionless rigid face, and then caressed her cold cheeks gently with his warm, consoling fur.

Amelia heard him sigh bitterly beside her ear. And it was filled with despair…

  • His Innocent Luna   A Glimpse of Adam's story

Nine’s POVUp to today, I still couldn’t fully comprehend why I stopped for that teenage girl on that day.It was one of the coldest winter nights in this strange country, chill, dark, and the iciness was just seeping under your skin. There was no wind that night, just snow, flake by flake, but in quite large sizes, falling off from heaven.I walked aimlessly in the thick snow on the street. The melted mud soiled my furs on my legs. There weren’t many street lights either, just cars and scarce passersby running past hurriedly. I heard loud music and laughing noises coming from those colorful stores on both sides of the street. It was still early in the night, but the street was so dark and quiet like it had been devoured by the demon.I walked haphazardly on the sidewalk, eyes fixed in the air, mind wandering restlessly. It was the 60th day I arrived in the city. As always, I found no one even slightly looking like my aim. It was quite disappointing, but I didn’t think much about it.

  • His Innocent Luna   Part 2 Bonus (Darren & Amelia)

Amelia was waiting outside the village in the car. Up to today, they had been traveling around the country for 7 months. They paid a visit to Emily first, and then went to Fay and Gregson’s son and all the other wolves who were once part of the murder. They hunted down every wolf who was responsible and made them pay their debts.James’s house was their last stop. After today, they would head back to their home and start a new life.Amelia said “No” when he asked if she wanted to visit her parents with him. Darren knew the reason. James and Doris were just the most ignorant and stupid couple he had ever met. Harm would be the only thing they might have caused Amelia if there was a reunion. He wrapped his coat a little tighter because of the autumn’s cold wind, then quickened his steps to the outside of the village. The sky’s color was sullen yellow today. While he was still far from their car, suddenly he saw Doris standing beside it with Amelia. His heart clenched. He then ran toward

  • His Innocent Luna   Part 1 Bonus (Darren & Amelia)

James was pretty upset about his retirement life.Nearly three years had passed since he lost his pack to the rogue he hated most, Darren. Though he had successfully persuaded himself to accept the fact and have a life with nothing a long time ago. Still, he was worried all the time about his adopted son, Ian. Three years ago, right after Darren took all his property from the Wolf Committee, Ian showed up at his front door later that day with a heavily wounded face. He plunged himself into James’s arms and cried. “The Rogue has put a wanted notice on me. He wants me to be dead!”James patted his back and sighed, knowing it was the ending of his and his pack’s glory. Still, he had this tiny expectation left in his heart that maybe someday, Ian could find a way to defeat Darren and regain everything. He was a smart kid, and had always been. And, he was the heir of the most powerful pack, Green Lake.At that point, James could hardly tell. Did he adopt Ian out of his condolences to hi

  • His Innocent Luna   Finale 2

“Mom, Dad, Emily….”He drifted back to his childhood in that cold, suffocating lake water, reliving everything that was so treasurable and amiable for him….When he was sinking, the lost memories of his slowly grew back piece by piece. He remembered how his sister fell from the cliff on the exact same day, and how Roy caught him in the lake, then took him to a secret chamber underneath it. That’s how he survived.“Hope you can have a normal but happy life, kid.” Roy sighed and wept beside his bed, then did something to his wounded eye. He couldn’t remember.Next, another surge of hatred and fury overwhelmed him.Now he could see clearly how he and his sister saved that wounded rogue boy in the forest, but got betrayed and attacked by him.“Fuck you! Fuck! How dare you use the Alpha tone on me?!” The rogue boy cursed, riding on top of him, using that sharp rock in his hand, repeatedly beating his head. After crushing his left eye, the rogue stood up and started to kick his chest and s

Adam had no idea why he agreed to help Mia. Mia was just an orphan he picked up from the street 10 years ago. A girl who had grown up, but refused to leave. When he told her that she was free to go at any time, she just said, “You need someone to take care of you, Master. And I am that perfect someone”, and then stayed as his maid.Adam didn’t try to persuade her. He didn’t even talk with her that much. He wasn’t a passionate person, had never had too many emotions. During the past 600 years, he had witnessed the death of too many people. For him, people were just things, or even less than things. Because things can last and stay, while people change and decay so quickly. No matter what kind of lives they have, or how reluctantly they behave, the endings of them are just the same. They will all die eventually, being buried into the earth soundlessly, and then quickly dispersed into nowhere.Years later, sometimes even days later, no one would ever remember them. Only he, the outsid

The moment Amelia heard that she felt her blood freeze. She quickly turned her head and then looked towards the castle, then saw Jovian grabbing a young girl in uniform by her throat, dragging her to the window. It wasn’t the girl who served food for them tonight, but Mia. The torch dropped on the floor had ignited the curtain beside the window, the whole place was about to sink into fire.Jovian giggled at the window, tightening his grip on Mia’s throat, “Guess what I will do to her, baby brother? I am going to eat her alive, starting from the fingers.” He reached his other hand to Mia’s wrist and broke it off like it was a chopstick. Mia screamed out of pain, but it was quickly cut off by the hand on her throat. Her face instantly turned purple. Tears streamed down from the corners of her eyes.“Or I am going to rape her right here and dismember her. You hate that kind of thing, don’t you, little brother? I hear you deprived a wolf for a human girl.”Adam’s face turned pale. Ameli
