11: A Blank Canvas (pt 2)

AVYANNA MADE her way towards the third floor while munching a hamburger. Her other hand was clutching a plastic bag containing seven burgers and two bottles of orange juice, which she had ordered earlier. Her eyes are a bit round as she glances left and right like an excited kitty cat. Her gaze would constantly change from one direction to the next, as though she was genuinely interested in what was going on around her.

Several numbers of students can be seen strolling around the building; some are in groups, while some are alone or in pairs. Students could sit on benches along either side of the walls on the main floor of the Literature building after acquiring books in the library. As the title suggests, this building is for anything related to literature; books, extra literature classes, research. You can all find them here in all four corners of the building. It also has the most serene atmosphere among the structures built in the university.

When Avyanna reached the third floor, she immediately spotted her target coming out of a room. Her eyes turned sharp for a second.

She gulped her last piece of burger, grabbed the orange juice, and walked towards her.

Avyanna anxiously twisted the cup open and drank from it as she walked. When she did, she accidentally bumped her shoulder into someone else's. Spilling some of the juice on the person in the process. Gasps and whispers started to form around them.

"Gosh, could you be so clumsy?! You ruined Teacher Sol's clothes!" A student rushed in from the crowd, quickly inspecting the person's drenched clothes, whom she identified as a teacher. She glared hard at the blonde student and roared, "What do you think the eyes are for? Stupid!"

"Calm down Siel. She doesn't seem to mean it." Another student rushed in, holding back the other student's shoulder to keep it from reaching its claws and scratching the impudent student who caused the accident. She sighed, helplessly, "Don't attack others recklessly."

"Keep your hands off me. It's infuriating already to see such an airhead so early in the morning!"

"It's already lunchtime."

Siel stared dumbfoundedly at her friend. "Nina, who cares?!"

"I'm so sorry!" Flustered, Avyanna took the handkerchief she'd been keeping in her pocket and frantically attempted to wipe the stain on the person's clothes. Her hands shook from nervousness.

"What the--look at her! She can't even wipe properly! " The enraged student was about to snatch the handkerchief when she was stopped by the teacher. The professor smiled softly at her student and said, "Calm down now, child. No need to make a fuss over a bit of water." Her gentle voice wasn't too soft, nor was it too loud. It was enough to calm the fuming student down.

"But..." She was about to protest, but when faced with such a forgiving professor, she could only swallow her anger. But she didn't forget to shoot daggers at the blonde girl.

Avyanna stuttered as she pleaded. She tried her best to shrink her neck. Her body trembled so much that it was pitiful to watch. Her green eyes were clouded with moisture as she secretly glanced at the ferocious cheetah beside the teacher. The cheetah looked like she could pounce on her at any second.

"Oh no, it's fine. You don't have to do this, child," the professor said in a soft tone. Like a gentle wind in the spring breeze, it calms all the nerves of the students around her. Her eyes widened a bit when she saw the other person's appearance. The surprised look on her face disappeared in an instant and was then replaced by a gentle look. "Are you new here? This is the first time I saw your face here at the university. "

Avyanna forced a smile and nervously played with her fingers; her face was flushed. "Yes... I'm a transferee." She bit his lower lip. "I can't help but feel nervous since I've been home studying ever since I was a child. At the same time, I was so excited to finally leave the mansion. The feeling of tension and excitement might have made me unable to sense you coming out of the door, Ms...." Avyanna bowed deeply, her eyes were tightly shut "I'm sorry!"

But instead of a scolding, she was instead greeted by a gentle pat on the shoulder. She looked up again, exposing her clear and green eyes. The woman couldn't help but flinch for a moment and stared at it. She smiled as she reach out her hands to help her up, "Child, you don't need to be so tense around me. You shouldn't also recklessly bow your head like that, rise. " Something about Avyanna stirred the teacher's soul.

Avyanna slowly abides.

"It's just orange juice. I can easily change my clothes. " The woman smiled. "Would you like to accompany me to my office instead?" Her eyes gazed at her kindly.

"Teacher?!"

"Yes? Do you also want to go with us too, Siel?"

Siel was about to say yes when her companion jumped in. "We would love to, Teacher. But we don't want to bother you too much. " She glanced at the frightened student in front of them and smiled, "I think it would be best to leave you two to talk. We will continue on our way."

Nina bids them goodbye as she drags her friend away. The latter could only silently weep. God knew that they would only go to the library to study. Who would want to stay there with books all day?!

The strange picture of the two didn't seem to bother other people much. They were pretty used to such scenes for a long time. The teacher once again asked Avyanna if she wanted to accompany her to her office.

Avyanna's expression indicated reluctance, but when she saw the juice smeared on the teacher's clothes, she immediately agreed. "Yes! Of course!" She at least wants to amend her mistake.

The two went to her office as they conversed about different topics. Avyanna witnessed how she was very well acquainted with everyone in school. When the other students discovered she was the main cause who stained their beloved teacher's clothes, they gave her the same ferocious glare. They treated the teacher as if she were a member of their family, as they were all concerned about her well-being although she had only accidentally spilled some orange juice on her.

Avyanna would have been stupefied by their sensitivity, but Avyanna is Avyanna. You could say that even if a mosquito were to suck her blood, she would just casually brush it off. But to complete her mission, she can only shrink her neck in guilt.

"Wait here for a moment as I change my clothes"

"Ahm, shouldn't I help you...?"

"Oh dear no, just stay there and make yourself comfortable."

Avyanna shyly nodded and stayed seated on the sofa. Her face quickly turned blank after the woman disappeared.

Avyanna has always been observant and can be quick to learn things.

Mr. Black once told her during training that she was very similar to a blank canvas; blank and untouched. She never expresses emotions like a normal human would, preferring to remain silent and indifferent to everything. Even though she was already bleeding profusely, her face refused to crumple during training. In comparison, the one who would often feel anxious and tense would be her training partner.

Mr. Black taught her how to use her dull temperament to her advantage and honed it as a skill by imagining herself as a blank canvas and using the knowledge she gained from observing people, to paint a new character for herself. Mr. Black knew how observant she can be to the point that she can easily pinpoint tiny details about a person. He trained her relentlessly and with that, she perfected the art of mimicry.

She uses the information she has in her head to change herself into someone entirely different than what she is.

And among the various types of people, there will always be that one guy who is naive and overly optimistic about life. They are the ones who will unconsciously lower your guard and instill a sense of duty in you to protect that pure and innocent aura they exude. And, given her current mission, Avyanna decided that this was the ideal scenario for her to paint herself into.

"Have you been waiting long?"

"Not at all, Ms."

Avyanna smiled brightly as she raised her hands, which were holding the plastic bag containing seven burgers and one orange juice. "Do you eat burgers, teacher...? I can only afford them for now, but rest assured this is not in any way a bribe for you to forgive me! I am not that shameless to offer you with only a snack!"

The teacher could only chuckle as she agreed.

It's always been those naive types whom you would usually think could be very easy to manipulate. And if this person is truly the culprit, she won't let this golden chance easily slip by.

Especially since she resembles her daughter so much.

The little guy holding a sniper subconsciously flinched.

"--you would know that the deceased daughter of our target is blonde. "

"Ehhh?!!"

Consequences."Let's talk about what you did with the request-command that I clearly told you not to do." Mr. Black's expression turned serious. He folded his hands before leaning forward to rest both arms on his desk. "Let me tell you the reason why I never told anyone about their existence, except to you which I now regret. I never would have thought that you would use it after all the warnings I gave you." Avyanna didn't retort. To be honest, Avyanna hasn't yet heard the reason why he forbade the request-commands from being known in the organization, which is the very first thing he did right after he stepped up as the head of the XYS. So she didn't have an idea how dire the situation really is. "I already told you about the consequences once an assassin utters the oath and requests a command directly to the head—they will either end up dead, or be stripped of their title as assassins and be thrown to them. The XYS will no longer be their homes, nor will they be able to go ba

  • His Little Assassin   AUTHOR'S NOTE

Hello! I apologise for the lack of updates over the last few months. The thing is, I had my first ever blue screen problem around the end of January, and I didn't have the chance to fix it until this Wednesday. Because my brain can't function or generate ideas while I'm not at my computer, I became inactive shortly after finishing the first arc. Sorry! The good news is that I was still able to use my Android phone to produce a few drafts for the second arc and even revised the entire first arc. Although I can't promise to update every day this month, expect the story to continue:) I'll make sure to finish my book before I graduate. I know I've lost a lot of readers by now, but that's okay. My objective is to finish my first book and use it as a stepping stone to becoming a much better writer and producing far more books than I could ever conc
