MAEVE
"I WISH TO RETURN TO THE HUMAN REALM, TO RETURN TO MY PACK" I shouted again after nothing happened the first time.I could feel something trying to keep me here. Their invisible hands holding onto my arms, stopping my spirit from leaving this place.'FIGHT BACK' Freyja shouted at me.I tried to free my arms, I tried to pull away from them, I wailed my arms around trying to get free and kicked my legs out hoping to connect with something.'How?!' I reached out to Freyja. 'How am I meant to fight something I can't see?'I could feel her trying to will herself forward, to take over.Freyja reached out to me. 'You're going to have to shift Maeve, I know you probably wanted your first shift to be on the ceremonial pack run but we need to shift now!'With Freyja's help I forced myself to shift for the first time. It was painful, I'd been told first shifts always are. I refused to cry out, I would show Freyja how strong I could be for her. Every inch of my body was contorting, my bones cracking to make way for her. After what seemed like a lifetime of agony the pain stopped, everything was different now. It was like I was looking through someone else's eyes, Freyja's eyes. My senses were stronger, I could smell the foul air surrounding me. I could finally see the creatures that were keeping us here. They were wolves of sort, but not like any wolf I had ever seen before. Their faces and bodies had been contorted into an evil form, they looked, smelt, and acted foul. I tried not to show my fear as their dead eyes stared me down.I couldn't help but wonder what had happened to these creatures to make them this way. Were they wolves once like Freyja, and the other pack wolves? Or had they always been these repulsive beasts?Freyja pounced into action, snapping and snarling at them. Their paws were more like deformed hands, I could see now that their claws, had been digging into us. She managed to bite down on one of their claws and then turn to kick it in the muzzle with her hind legs.Another one leapt forward directing its mangled jaws at our neck. They were no longer trying to keep us from leaving. They were trying to kill us. Freyja ducked down, narrowly avoiding the beast that had leapt at us.He flew straight over her. She turned onto her back, dragging her claws along his under belly. The beast let out a wretched scream, his guts spewed out onto us. I held back the urge to vomit at the smell of rancid organs. They were obviously just as repulsive internally as they were externally.I could see through Freyja's eyes, that more and more of these beasts were appearing from the shadows.'There's too many of them Freyja. We'll never make it!' I informed her in a panic.I began to feel a surge of power radiating from Freyja, the aura coming off her was making the air around us shine.'We need to use our strength Maeve, we are stronger together. I chose you because you are capable of more than you know. Tap into your true potential.' Was her response.I wondered if maybe she had made a mistake, I wasn't special. I was a young girl who had lived a perfect, sheltered life. I didn't know how to win a battle. I decided to trust her, she was right. She must have picked me for a reason, right?I didn't know what I was trying to tap into, but I channelled my inner strength. I had to try and help her, I had to keep us both safe. I don't know why I said the words I did, they just came to me like I'd known what to do all along.'I give my strength to you Freyja, I give you all that I have.'I felt the strength drain from me, but not in a way that it was gone. I still felt strong, stronger than ever. But my power was being channelled, through Freyja. She let out an almighty growl, making the spirit realm quake beneath our paws. I could feel a power force of such, leave our body in visible waves as they travelled through the spirit realm. Searing the skin from the beast's bones as they tried to lunge towards us, banishing them back to the shadows. It was astounding to watch. I had never seen anything like it. Iridescent waves crashed through the realm. Wave after wave. Like almighty ocean waves, crushing everything in their wake.It took a lot out of both of, us giving that strength away and I could feel my consciousness fading.'We did it Maeve, I knew we could' I heard Freyja's soft voice in my head.A soft smile graced my lips, knowing we'd manage to defeat these awful creatures. Not long after everything went black. The last thing I heard before my vision was engulfed in darkness was the voice of Freyja.'The worst is yet to come, Maeve. Rest now. We need all of our strength to prepare us for our journey ahead.'MADDOXWe were all still standing there staring at the clearing in pure disbelief, when another more ferocious shake erupted from the ground beneath our feet. A few of the Sabre pack began to run in fear. 'No matter what comes out of this we stand and fight like the warriors we are' I heard my wolf Tyr call out to me. I agreed, we would not run from a fight. I took my stance ready to face whatever was coming head on, the other alpha's followed suit. All except Alpha Carson who was slowly backing away, ready to run at any given moment. Fucking coward. A flash of light shot out from the centre of the clearing. My vision went black from the blaze of light. "Shit! I can't see." I heard alpha Turner shout behind me.I tapped into Tyr's senses to try and use our sense of smell. I'd fight these fuckers blind if I had to. The scent that hit my nose made my heart stop, apples & cinnamon with a hint of cherries. Whatever was coming to get us surely couldn't be evil with a scent that heavenl
MADDOX As we entered the conference room, we were all placed in silver cuffs. It hurt like a bitch but it was decided to be necessary to stop us Alpha's from shifting when things got a little too heated sometimes. I took my place at head of the table, no matter who's pack we were in the largest pack leader sat at the head. I looked around at the other alphas sat in the room with me. Alpha Sadler I knew would be no issue, he wanted to protect his daughter just as much as I did. Alpha Turner I respected and had a treaty with, so I'm pretty sure he wouldn't put my mate in harms way. Alpha Birch was a gentle natured kind of guy, always wanted peace and all that shit. Alphas Reed, Ferrand and Walker, I didn't think would pose a threat, even if the three of them banded together they had the smallest packs in our country and still wouldn't match my pack alone in numbers, so they would know better. My eyes rested on Alpha Carson. If I was going to have a problem with anyone, it would be th
MAEVEMy body felt as though I had been hit by a truck, and my head was pounding. I opened my eyes and took in my surroundings, the room was dark. The lights were off, and the curtains were closed. I could barely make out the shadows of the room but knew I was somewhere unfamiliar. I was laying on a large bed with velvet sheets caressing my skin. I lifted my head and saw movement in the shadows out of the corner of my eye. "Hello? Is someone there?" I called out. I didn't like this I didn't feel safe. The lights turned on and I saw a man stood in the corner of the room, with a sombre look on his face. He was a relatively tall man, about 6 foot 5 if I had to guess. Tall by human standards, but not particularly amongst werewolf men. He had sandy blond hair. With strands falling down, that sat just above his eyebrows and cool blue eyes. He looked a bit older than me but still handsome, as all werewolves were to the human eye. "My sweet girl, I am so glad you're ok." He coed. I jump
MAEVE I spent the next few days walking around alpha Carson's estate like a shadow of my former self, I was still struggling to come to terms with the revelation about my pack and family. What hurt the most was knowing I'd caused this; this was all because of me and my chosen wolf. Alpha Carson has been my lifeline through this difficult time, always ensuring I am well fed, well rested and treating me like one of the family. I chocked on those last thoughts knowing that I didn't have a family anymore, all of my family and friends were dead. I was pulled away from my thoughts by a knock at the door and saw Alpha Carson pop his head around it with a warm smile on his face. "Good morning sweetheart, I just came to bring you breakfast. Orange juice and pancakes this morning." I gave him a warm smile and stood up from my bed. "Thank you so much Alpha, you've been amazing these last few days. I don't know how I'll ever be able to repay you." He set the breakfast plate down on the side ta

The stupid girl was beginning to trust me. All I needed to do was hold Maddox at my borders and not let him get through until I can convince her to let me mark her. The whole story I'd spun about him slaughtering her entire pack would have left her feeling alone and vulnerable which is right where I wanted her. It meant she was more likely to fall for my
MAEVEI laid there contently snuggled into Theo's arms, watching the film. I wished every day could be this carefree. I could get used to this, but could he? I still didn't know anything about the man really. I turned to look up at him and took in every detail of his face. His strong jaw line with a shadow of stubble, was set firm as he concentrated on the film. His long eyelashes were fanning his cool blue eyes. He wasn't my usual type but then again, having never had a boyfriend I didn't even know for certain if I had a type. He looked out of the corner of his eye and caught me staring, I didn't know what do to so just looked away hoping that he hadn't noticed."Can I help you darling?" He quizzed.I internally groaned. He did see me staring. What the heck was I going to say? What possible reason could I have for staring at him like a lovestruck pup. "Sorry, I didn't mean to stare. I was just thinking about how grateful I am, that you saved me from Alpha Bain. If you didn't inter
MADDOXI was losing my mind out here. We had set up our military camp 3 days ago outside Alpha Carson's estate. Every minute that went past was another painful reminder that my mate was trapped inside those walls, and goddess knows what kind of torture Alpha Carson was putting her through. I was failing. As a mate, and as an Alpha to my pack. The second I had woken up in Alpha Sadler's conference room, I was met with the site of Alpha Sadler and Luna Isabella's dead eyes staring at me. He had fucking killed them in cold blood. My mates parents had been brutally murdered and I wasn't even sure if she knew what had happened.I took a moment to remember the events of the last few days. I remember being let out of the handcuff's by a morbid looking Beta, who had just realised his Alpha and Luna were gone. I remember shifting into my wolf and running back to my pack as fast as my legs would carry me. The thing that will stay with me most, is remembering the way my pack had reacted to the
BETA STIMPSON I stood there listening to the war cries of the White Claw Pack. They were relentless. No matter what we threw their way they continued to try and penetrate our walls. I looked down at the shields they had forged. Their crest was shining bright against the sunlight. The history books I had read as a child, told me the crest had significant meaning. Every time a new Alpha was anointed in the White Claw pack, a Lion would appear within their pack territory and challenge the new Alpha to a fight to the death. If the Alpha was not worthy, he would perish in the battle. For any Alpha that triumphed against the Lion they would be blessed with unusually long life even amongst shifters, and given the strength to guide their pack. The snake symbolised the destruction of anyone that stood in their way. Just like the Lion defeated unworthy Alpha's, The pack believed they were able to defeat any unworthy opponents they faced. The snakes. I realised just how far our pack had fal
