Rio stood up from the table, he abandoned the family dinner they had all come out forHis mother had called out to him but he turned a deaf ear to her calls. He rushed out of the restaurant like he had seen a ghost. He reached into his pocket for his car keys, walked to where he had packed his cars but Mimie came out blocking his way under the disguise she had something to tell him.He shoved her aside, entered the car and zoomed off the restaurant at high speed.Anita was the only thing he thought of as he drove,he had to find her, he had to explain the whole situation to her. He couldn’t help feeling she had misinterpreted everything she saw. He felt guilty when she entered the restaurant especially when she fixed her stare on him.“Was she stalking me?” He thought but brushed the thought as soon as it came.He just wanted to see her, he needed to know she was in a safe place. He was concerned about her well being, the way she left the restaurant didn’t sit well with him, he fea
Anita walked back home, she had gotten tired of her stay at the hospital. She walked through the streets that led to her apartment. She walked home with a blank mind feeling nothing at all.Mimie laid on Anita’s all covered with a blanket she had dragged from the bed. She had been worried about how Anita had run out from the restaurant, she knew things weren’t going to end hence she had advised Anita not to approach Rio at the table. She had contemplated calling her but she killed the idea as she thought of it.She felt a little bit of guilt in her chest, she had suggested Anita’s coming to the restaurant to see things for herself. She had tried hard to stop her from going in but all she did proved abortive..She hissed as she remembered the treatment she got from Rio, he pushed her like she was a nobody. She was so sure he wouldn’t have treated his daughter whom he harbored hate for the way he treated her. She couldn’t bring herself to understand that Rio wasn’t interested in her.
The smell of food woke Mimie, she quickly jumped out of bed and walked straight to the kitchen. She was keen on knowing what had passed her nose waking her up.She entered the kitchen and found Anita busy making some toast and humming a song she listened to with the headphones she had on.Anita, a lover of music, had resorted to headphones; she didn’t want to wake Mimie up after the long night they had.She owed Mimie even though she wouldn’t say,Mimie had kept her busy throughout the night with the movies they watched and talks they had all through the night.“This smells delicious” Mimie said as she made way to steal one of the toast Anita had already made.A quick look from Anita sent her hands back to herself.“You should take a shower” Anita said as she hit the bread ready to make another toast.“I’m happy you did that,” Mimie said, ignoring Anita’s suggestions.Anita, confused about what she referred to, looked at her hoping to get a better explanation of what she referred to.
Rio got down from the car and walked into the house. His endless search for Anita had taken the better part of him, he looked exhausted and dejected. He cites his mother as he enters the house, he’s already prepared for her long unending talks. He’s ready for the talks of how he acted at the restaurant and given her deaf ears even when she had called. She looked at him and walked past him not saying a word like he had expected, he had expected an outburst of his behavior from her.He was relieved when she walked past him with no words, he quietly dragged his feets and went straight to his bedroom to get some sleep. He hadn’t slept properly the previous night. He opens the doors of his bedroom and is surprised at the state it is in.His room had been rearranged from how he left it but he’s way too tired to ask questions. His room was now squeaky clean and he hated it. It doesn't feel like his room anymore. The sense of familiarity is gone. His previous room had represented his ki
Bianca smiles at Rio hoping to get one back but she’s surprised at the question he threw at her.“Why?” He asked with a stern face looking straight into her eyes.Bianca, who was confused by his question, keeps mute.“Why did you clean my room?”He asked still keeping a stern faceLast I checked you weren’t hired as a housekeeper here and what gave you the effrontery to match into my bedroom and rearrange it. Bianca had assumed otherwise when she cleaned the room. She had stolen a quick room at the room, she had found the door slightly opened when she walked past. She had thought the passing of Sarah had been on him that he didn’t care about the state of his room. His mother had told her all about Rio's behavior when he heard of Sarah’s passing. How he had almost killed himself and how the hospital guards rescued him just in time. She had willingly cleaned the room changing the stained bed covers, she had thought she had done him some good by cleaning the room. She had tried to answe
Mimie laid on her bed still in thoughts of how to get Rio to herself, she had always dreamed of the day he would be finally hers. She had come up with beautiful ideas that would make Rio hers but the opportunity to execute them never presented itself. Her plans were almost accomplished but she needed to fast track as it had been taking too long. She just had to get rid of Bianca who had now become more of a stumbling block for her. With Anita by her side she was sure to get Rio to herself. She had to put in efforts to help Anita get her books published and she’ll disappear from his life just as she had promised.“He’ll be mine, all mine” She said as she grabbed the newspaper which was laying on the bed. She had picked it up earlier on her way back from Anita’s house. She had enjoyed her stay with Anita, despite they had a rough start she still found her interesting and fun to be with. She opened the newspaper and read through it.Her eyes caught something in the paper, she paus
Mimie looked at her watch laughing from a joke the janitor whom she had now enjoyed his company made. She had almost forgotten about the book signing, she had been occupied with the plate of well baked pastries that she had been served,a smile had appeared on her face when she tasted the coffee, her facial expression had clearly defined the coffee, it was the best she had tasted in a while. The pastry shop she always patronized had deadbeat coffee but she had no option to always drink as she didn’t have the skills of making one herself. She thanked the janitor whose name she still doesn’t know and asked to be excused as she had to return to the venue for the book signing. The janitor smiled as he stood up walking out of the pastry shop with Mimie following behind. They get to the auditorium and find people already trooping in. The janitor walked her to the entrance and turned back to take his leave after they’d both exchanged goodbyes.Mimie walked towards the arranged chairs and sa
They all arrive at the coffee shop and take an empty seat with Rio taking the empty seat close to Anita.Anita, who felt uncomfortable how Rio had sat near her, dragged her chair towards Mimie pretending she had something to tell her.Dragging her seat, she takes note of the beautiful environment that surrounded the coffee shop. She was not the kind person to admire restaurants or coffee shops but this coffee shop made her stare. It had pretty flower pots that were placed at every corner of the shop and there were drawings that captured a family that had coffee together.Anita, being a lover of family and gatherings smiled as she looked at it. She couldn’t remember the last family hangout she had, her parents were always on her case, attacking her with words at every chance they got, this was when she was still adamant on becoming a writer.“Hmmm” she heaved a sigh as she remembered her last family outing. They had all gone for dinner and her dramatic mother had to bring her career c
