Fiona's pov

As the words were pronounced, they clung heavily in the air and silence pervaded the room with only the slight snores of Liora being heard.

I could feel my heart thudding in its encase, the blood rushing in my ears as I made eye contact with the guards. I raised my hand, fingers clutching at my throat while Celia still stood before me, her body shielding me protectively.

What do we do, Fiona? Iris panicked, we are doomed for sure this time.

I couldn't even think, my thoughts were a blur with only anxiety coursing through me as the men waited for us to comply. We could hear the rustling of clothes and noise through the walls as the other guards searched other women.

"We are waiting, ladies." One of the men spoke as he lifted his leg, stepping into the room. "We have others to search."

Celia's gulp was heard as she stepped forward to be searched first. She stood before the men as one raised her gown, peeking at her ankles.

"Roll up your sleeves," the man instructed.

  • His Majesty’s Captive    29- The princess and her prince

Fiona's pov I had never been courted properly before. When I was younger, I'd get jealous of other creatures that didn't have the mate concept. I used to dream of receiving the attention and flowers, the man seeking your dad's permission to meet you. I used to want the long walks I knew they would get, the love confessions afterwards, and the secret meetings they had.But now, I didn't have to wonder anymore, nor did I need to dwell in the devastation I carried from my mate bond experience. There was a smile on my face, partly because of the bubbly energy of Liora but mainly because of the previous evening I spent with Jarek. It had been a while since I felt that way, it's been years. This was even deeper than I had felt before.I had felt butterflies and given away shy giggles. I craved for our hands to touch and for him to steal kisses from me and I happily related my experiences with Celia, her excitement greater than mine.I hummed to myself, running the brush through

  • His Majesty’s Captive    27- Sins of the past

Fiona's POVThe ember pact...My mind was flooded with memories from three years back as I watched Jarek's figure. He slowly diminished within my sight as images of that night flooded my vision.I felt lightheaded, my heart heavy with emotions as I leaned against the stone bench. My fingers clutched at the armrest, my chest rose and fell as air filled my lungs.I think we are doomed, Fiona... Iris sobbed, For how long are we going to hide? We haven't even been able to find him.I couldn't console Iris. I collapsed to the bench, tucking my head between my knees as tears gathered in my vision, threatening to spill. The ember pact was a mark that appeared when a wolf mated and bonded with a dragon. As usual, the laws of nature were ever so unkind to women, and we had the honour of bearing that mark. Even now, mine pulsed against my thigh, the same way it glowed whenever I was near the king from the day I first met him. There had been a war between the dragons and werewolves for a while.

  • His Majesty’s Captive    26- Meeting Marek

Fiona's POV I pulled away, warmth blooming over the skin of my cheeks with a small smile forming on my lips coated in moisture. My gaze didn't meet Jarek's, my eyes turned away instead, the back of my hand coming to my cheek, fingers folding against it so I could feel the heat.Jarek's sudden chuckle could be heard when he covered my hand with his against mine, his thumb stroking slightly against my skin."You are blushing, Fiona."I bent my head lower at his remark, whether it was from shame or pleasure, I couldn't tell but there was a sudden shyness that had overcome me."You are beautiful," he whispered again, closing the gap between us caused by my suddenly pulling away from our kiss."Thank you." The whisper came as I raised my gaze, my smile widening on seeing his warm brown eyes and tender, handsome features. "So—"He didn't let me speak. He only leaned in, his lips brushing against mine again, capturing my bottom lip between his. I felt his teeth as he bit down ge

  • His Majesty’s Captive    25- A win and a kiss

Fiona's POV My ears rang at the authoritative proclamation of her voice, and I noticed the murmurs of agreement from the elders, all wanting my public humiliation just as the vile woman wanted it. There was a satisfactory grin on her face; her cheeks glowed with joy as she subjected me to the scrutinizing gazes of the elders. Olive had told me about them and their stand in this society. They had much power, and if they were to proclaim the punishment in agreement with Lyanna's words, there was nothing to be done about it. We can't just stay and watch, Fiona. That first time Lyanna tried to whip us, we were saved by Elric saying the king summoned us, and the second time we were thrown in prison, the beast came. Iris spoke to me, there's no one here but ourselves now. You are right, Iris. Elder Selva isn't what we could call a foe or a friend, and there's no one coming to save us. We have got to get out of this ourselves. Let me think. As they quietly murmured my fate before them,

  • His Majesty’s Captive    24-The mistress that won

Lyanna's POV Some people just didn't know when to be gone, despite knowing their presence wasn't needed and this disgusting wretch was one of them. She should have died when I pushed her off the cliff. Imagine my surprise when I saw she had survived, and for the past few hours, she and Octavius had been in each other's company. He even pushed me aside for her, carrying her child. I couldn't get to the root of the matter, to find out what had truly transpired. I could only gather meaningless gossip from the maids and slaves. Some say she led him to his death with her witchcraft which I agree with. Others say he is now completely besotted with her despite their differences. I had planned to ask him about his involvement with her, but that never happened, for it was his limp body that was brought back while her child was hale and hearty, and so was the witch. When I heard that Octavius had asked for the healer which was her, I began to believe the other part of the gossi
