"You're finally awake." The deep male voice instantly made my eyes snap open. For a few seconds everything around me looked blurry and distorted, my head pounding painfully while darkness surrounded the room except for a single dim bulb hanging above me. Then reality hit. My breathing stopped, I was tied to a chair.

My wrists burned against the rough rope holding them tightly behind my back while my ankles were tied to the chair legs, and panic exploded inside my chest immediately. What the hell was happening? One horrible thing after another kept happening to me so fast that my brain could barely keep up anymore, and I wondered if the universe was personally trying to finish me before the cancer could.

A tall man dressed completely in black stood a few feet away from me, even his face hidden behind a black mask, revealing nothing except his cold eyes. The moment he started walking toward me my heartbeat became uneven, and I instinctively tried moving backward, but the chair scraped harshly against the floor instead, the sound echoing through the room. "Relax," he said calmly, though somehow that made him even scarier. "I'm going to call your husband now and tell him you've been kidnapped."

My chest tightened painfully at the word husband. Vincent. Would he even care? A bitter laugh almost escaped me internally. Maybe if this happened a week ago I would have believed he'd come for me immediately. But after tonight, after hearing him say he wouldn't care if I disappeared from his life forever, I wasn't sure anymore. Still, a small stupid part of me hoped, because no matter how badly Vincent treated me, I couldn't stop my heart from wanting him to choose me for once.

The masked man pulled out his phone before dialing Vincent's number, and by the fourth call Vincent finally picked up. The kidnapper immediately placed the phone on speaker. "Your wife has been captured by me," he said bluntly.

There was a brief silence, then Vincent's voice came through the phone casually. "Okay." That was it. Okay. No panic or even concern.

The kidnapper glanced at me briefly before continuing. "If you want her back alive, you'll need to pay one billion." "I know this is some scam," Vincent said coldly. Something inside my chest cracked quietly. The masked man frowned before suddenly switching the call to video, and the screen lit up instantly, my stomach twisting painfully the second Vincent's face appeared. He was shirtless and Cassia was beside him wrapped in bedsheets, leaning against his chest lazily, her hair messy from sex, sweat glistening across both their skin. My fingers curled tightly against the ropes.

"You think I'd pay that amount of money for her?" Vincent scoffed while shaking his head in disbelief. "Are you serious right now? Do whatever you want with her. I'm not paying a dime. Stop wasting my time." Each word felt like a knife pushing deeper into my chest. From beside him Cassia laughed softly before kissing his jaw. "Baby," she murmured flirtatiously, "come on, let's go for another round." A soft moan escaped her lips afterward, and my eyes immediately burned with tears. I quickly looked away from the screen before they could fall.

The man slowly lowered the phone before ending the call completely, then turned toward me slowly. "Are you sure that man is really your husband?" he asked bluntly. I didn't answer. Honestly, even I was starting to question it myself. The man stared at me for another moment before speaking again. "He just gave me permission to do whatever I want with you."

The second he stepped closer, fear rushed through me violently. His hand reached toward my face, but I reacted immediately, leaning forward and biting his hand hard. "Shit!" he cursed loudly. The next second, a slap landed so hard across my face that the chair tipped sideways completely, pain exploding through my cheek as I crashed against the floor with the chair still attached to me. A broken groan escaped my throat automatically, and my ears rang painfully. "You crazy woman," he snapped angrily. "Your husband already said I can do whatever I want with you, so maybe I should just sell you off instead. Sounds more useful."

Sell me? My heartbeat turned frantic. Panic rushed through me so badly that I immediately forced myself upright despite the pain shooting through my body. The moment he untied the chair roughly to drag me back up, I quickly grabbed his leg desperately. He frowned. "What now?" I looked around frantically before starting to sign quickly with trembling hands. "I can give you something better."

The masked man paused, and to my shock he understood, my eyes widening slightly. Funny how a complete stranger understood my signs faster than Vincent had in five years. "What do you mean?" he asked slowly. I swallowed hard before signing again carefully. "Something you'd like." His eyes narrowed curiously. "And what exactly would I like?" I stared directly at him before signing the next words. "I know you're the one blackmailing Vincent."

The atmosphere changed instantly, and even through the mask I saw the shock in his eyes. For the past year Vincent had been receiving anonymous blackmail calls constantly, threats, secret information, and financial leaks, and I always knew the person behind those calls would eventually make a move. Turns out I was right.

The masked man slowly crouched in front of me now, studying me carefully like I had suddenly become interesting. "And how do you know that?" he asked quietly. I simply stared back at him, because unlike Vincent, I actually paid attention to people. The man suddenly smirked beneath the mask. "Interesting." Then he tilted his head slightly. "So what exactly are you offering me?"

I signed one word slowly. "Money." That immediately made him laugh. "I like that answer," he admitted. A few minutes later, after making a deal with him, he finally untied me completely and let me leave.

The moment I got home exhaustion hit me instantly, but before I could even process everything that happened tonight, "Ahh… Vincent…" Cassia's loud moan echoed through the house, followed immediately by the sound of the bed slamming against the wall. Clap, clap, clap. My entire body stiffened. Seriously? Were they trying to torture me on purpose? Anger exploded inside me so suddenly that I even got shocked, and I turned around immediately and stormed back outside before getting into my car again.

Then I drove straight back toward the abandoned warehouse where the kidnapper was waiting. The second I entered he looked surprised. "You again?" I quickly started signing toward him immediately. "I need the phone you've been using to blackmail my husband." The masked man stared at me strangely for a few seconds, then slowly his eyes narrowed. "Why do you need it," he asked suspiciously, "when you're mute?" He stepped closer carefully. "Unless," his voice lowered dangerously, "you can actually talk and you've just been pretending this whole time?"

  • His Mute Wife's Goodbye Revenge    Chapter 182 - The Happiest Ending

Vincent "Your son is out of danger now." The doctor's words echoed through the silent hallway. "He'll need some rest, but he's stable." For the first time since the nightmare began, I felt my lungs fill with air again. My knees almost gave out beneath me as the weight crushing my chest finally eased. I closed my eyes for a brief second, silently thanking God. Darren was safe. The doctor gave us a reassuring nod before walking away, leaving Nyelle and me standing outside the hospital room. Too much had happened in a single night. I slowly turned toward her. She looked exhausted. Her eyes were swollen from crying, her hair was a mess, and there were faint burn marks on the sleeve of her clothes from escaping the fire. Even so, she was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen because she was alive. Then what she'd confessed outside the burning house replayed in my head. Darren... was my son. I still couldn't believe it. For a moment, I laughed under my breath, shakin

  • His Mute Wife's Goodbye Revenge    Chapter 181 - The Fire and the Truth

NyelleThe image of Cassia's face on the news stayed with me long after we got home.Even as Vincent tried distracting me with dinner, silly jokes, and a movie he insisted would "take my mind off everything," I couldn't shake the uneasy feeling twisting in my stomach. It felt as though danger was lurking just beyond the walls of our home, waiting for the perfect moment to strike."You've been staring at the same spot for five minutes," Vincent said softly as he reached across the couch and intertwined his fingers with mine. "Don't jump to the worst conclusion yet."I turned to him, disbelief written all over my face."Are you serious right now?" I asked. "Do you remember who we're talking about? This is Cassia. You know exactly what she's capable of."His expression softened. He lifted my hand and rubbed gentle circles over the back of it."I know," he admitted quietly. "I'm not saying we should ignore it. I'm saying we shouldn't let fear destroy our peace before anything has even hap

  • His Mute Wife's Goodbye Revenge    Chapter 180 -The Sweetest Second Chance

Nyelle A week had passed since the wedding, yet every morning I woke up with the same disbelief. It still felt unreal."Good morning, babe."Vincent's warm voice drifted into the room before I even opened my eyes. The rich aroma of freshly made breakfast followed him, filling the bedroom. I slowly blinked awake to find him balancing a tray in one hand, a smile already spreading across his face the moment our eyes met."You finally decided to wake up," he teased softly.I let out a sleepy groan, pulling the blanket up to my chin. My entire body still felt deliciously exhausted after the long, passionate night we'd shared. Heat immediately crept onto my cheeks as flashes of the previous night danced through my mind. Vincent noticed the blush instantly and chuckled, setting the tray carefully on the bedside table."I know that look," he said, amusement dancing in his eyes."You know nothing," I mumbled, hiding my face against the pillow."Oh? Then why are you blushing?""I'm not.""You

  • His Mute Wife's Goodbye Revenge    Chapter 179 - A Love Worth Waiting For

Vincent The tear clinging to Nyelle's lashes finally slipped free, tracing silently down her cheek as every eye in the hall remained fixed on her. Her lips trembled, and for what felt like an eternity, no sound came out. I couldn't breathe. My heartbeat thundered so violently against my ribs that it drowned out everything else. I had stood before countless people throughout my life without fear, but nothing had ever terrified me the way those few seconds did. My future, my marriage, my second chance... every piece of it rested on the next word that would leave her lips. She lowered her gaze briefly, clutching the bouquet so tightly the white roses quivered in her hands. When she finally looked up again, her eyes glistened with unshed tears. Every emotion she'd been carrying for years seemed to collide at once. Her voice shook as she finally broke the suffocating silence."I'm choosing this man..." she whispered, her words barely louder than a breath. "...because he waited years for

Vincent"What the hell are you planning?" Nico asked through clenched teeth, his voice low enough that only I could hear, though the fury blazing in his eyes needed no translation.I met his glare without the slightest hint of concern and smiled calmly."What does it look like I'm planning?"Before Nico could answer, the whispers that had been spreading through the hall grew louder. One after another, the guests abandoned all pretense of being discreet."Wait... isn't that Vincent Hale the bride's husband?""What are you talking about?""Haven't you heard? Nyelle disappeared five years ago. Everyone thought she had died, but she survived. I also heard Vincent never signed the divorce papers she sent him. Legally... they're still husband and wife."The revelation spread through the hall like wildfire."Oh my God...""Then what is this wedding?""So she's engaged to another man while she's still married?""This is unbelievable.""I can't leave now. I have to see how this ends.""Who is

  • His Mute Wife's Goodbye Revenge    Chapter 177 - The Wedding Crasher

Vincent"What do you mean you're going to attend her wedding?" Ronan stared at me as though I'd completely lost my mind. His mouth hung open, and he blinked several times, obviously waiting for me to tell him I was joking. When I didn't, he threw both hands into the air in frustration. "Boss, are you serious? That's insane! For five years you've been walking around like a dead man. You barely slept, barely ate, and every single day you regretted losing her. Now she's finally back, and instead of fighting for her, you're smiling? Why are you sitting there grinning to yourself... and why do you keep touching your lips?" He narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "Boss... did you hit your head too hard when you collapsed in the rain?"I didn't answer him. I couldn't. My mind had wandered back to the car outside Nyelle's house. I could still feel her lips against mine, still remember the way she'd silenced me before I could finish speaking. The memory replayed over and over, making the corner of
