Aurelia POV

My heart skips.

Something important?

The way he looked didn’t feel like good news. Not even close. His shoulders were too stiff, his eyes too careful, like someone handling glass they already know is cracked.

“I’m listening,” I signed back, my fingers trembling despite my effort to keep them steady.

He hesitated. Just a little. But I saw it. The warmth that had wrapped me minutes ago was gone, replaced with a quiet caution, the kind that means someone is about to hurt you and knows it.

I prayed it wasn’t what my mind kept screaming at my heart. I refused to believe he would ever do that. Not him. Not us.

The paranoia I had shoved away crept back into my chest, sharp and insistent. My body shook lightly, nerves buzzing beneath my skin.

He wouldn’t. We had come too far. Too much history, too many promises, too much healing to let the past tear through what we had built so carefully.

Seth sighed, deep and heavy, then stood up. He reached for a file on the shelf nearby.

My heart started racing.

What was in that folder?

What I’m about to tell you now, he signed, pausing midway, his hands hovering like they weren’t sure they wanted to finish the thought.

“You might not like it. But it’s for the best.”

The way his hands moved was slow, deliberate, almost rehearsed. Careful. Like he was cushioning a blow.

My shaking worsened. My fingers clipped the fork by mistake and it fell from my hand, clattering against the table. I couldn’t hear it, but I saw the way Seth flinched, the worry rushing into his eyes as he hurried to my side.

“Are you okay? he signed, concern written plainly across his face.

“It’s fine. It was a mistake”, I signed back quickly, forcing calm where there was none.

“What is it you want to tell me? What’s in the folder?”

His gaze flicked back to the file before he slowly pulled it closer and sat beside me, closer than before. Close enough that I could feel the heat of him, close enough that my chest tightened painfully.

My body wouldn’t settle. A restless hum ran through me, but I stayed still, clinging to composure.

Maybe it’s something else. Maybe I’m overthinking. Let me just wait and listen.

He paused again, staring at me with deliberate focus. His mouth twitched slightly, like he was bracing himself.

“Aurelia…

Regina is back.”

My brain processed the name faster than my eyes could follow his lips.

Regina.

Regina is back, he signed again, repeating it as if one version of the truth wasn’t enough to shatter me.

I stayed frozen, unable to move, unable to react. My thoughts went blank even as my heart thundered wildly in my chest. Memories flooded in all at once, cruel and uninvited.

Regina. That reckless and Cruel.. . Twisting things just to make Seth beg. Not caring what might happen to him, not caring who got hurt. Leaving without looking back.

And now, after all these years… she was back.

For what?

Seth’s expression hardened further, seriousness settling into his features like a final verdict.

“Regina and I are getting back together” , he signed.

My chest constricted painfully.

“She’s coming back to launch her career here. We decided to work things out and get back together.”

The words didn’t feel real. They floated somewhere above me, disconnected from my body.

He opened the folder.

“I want us to get a divorce so it doesn’t complicate things. No one except our family knows about us. Not even Regina. So it won’t be hard on you.”

He signed quickly, urgently, like speed could soften the damage.

A divorce?

The word echoed inside me, hollow and violent.

Everything collapsed at once. Thoughts crashing into each other, emotions tangling, my chest aching so deeply it felt physical.

I couldn’t understand it. I couldn’t understand him. After everything she had done. After everything we had survived.

No. No. I couldn’t.

“What?” I signed, forcing the word out while tears burned behind my eyes.

Aurelia, he mouthed softly, reaching for my hands.

This is for the best….

Before he could continue, I pulled my hands back and signed.

“What would grandfather say? Have you thought of that? Seth, she left you. She didn’t care if you died that day. Why now?”

My hands moved faster than my heart could keep up with. Pain poured out clumsily, insufficiently. I couldn’t express how much this hurt, how deeply it cut.

“Don’t you love me anymore?”

I signed, desperate, raw, trying to force something to change. Trying to make him remember us. What we built. What we promised.

“I love you, Aurelia. Always have and always will, he signed.”

Hope sparked briefly in my chest, fragile and trembling.

“But you are my sister. This arrangement was because grandfather insisted. I love you as my sister.”

The hope shattered instantly.

My heart sank, something inside me breaking quietly.

A tear finally slipped free.

  • His Quiet Undoing: TO LOVE THY BROTHER    112 AURELIA ♡ END

Three months had passed since our little wedding, and life had quietly settled into something I never thought I would have.I stood in the bathroom of our new mansion, staring at the two pink lines on the pregnancy test in my hand. My heart was beating so hard I could feel it in my ears. I had taken the test twice just to be sure. Both times, the result was the same.I was pregnant.I placed the test on the counter and leaned back against the sink, letting the reality sink in. The mansion was quiet this morning. Sunlight poured through the large windows, lighting up the marble floors and the high ceilings we had only moved into six weeks ago. It still felt too big sometimes, but it was ours, a fresh start in every sense.Zane’s company had been doing incredibly well. The new systems he put in place after everything with Daniella had made the business stronger and more stable than ever. He came home earlier these days, less weighed down, more present. The past no longer sat between us

The final weeks before the wedding passed faster than Aurelia expected. The studio was nearly ready, with the first racks of clothing already hanging neatly along one wall. During the day she focused on final touches for her collection, but in the evenings she and Zane turned their attention to the wedding. They kept everything small and deliberate. No large guest list, no elaborate decorations, and no unnecessary pressure. Teresa was one of the first people Aurelia called to confirm her attendance, Teresa sounded genuinely happy for them and promised to be there with her husband.Aurelia found her dress during a quiet appointment one afternoon. It was simple but elegant, with clean lines, soft fabric that moved with her, and a subtle detail along the neckline. When she tried it on and looked at herself in the mirror, she didn’t feel the need to second-guess. It felt right. She sent Zane a single message afterward: “Found it. You’ll see it on the day.”.....The day before the wedding

Aurelia stood in the middle of her new store space with a measuring tape in one hand and a notebook in the other. The walls had finally been painted a soft neutral tone, and the large windows let in plenty of natural light. It still smelled faintly of fresh paint, but it already felt like hers.Zane leaned against the doorway watching her. “You’ve been here since eight this morning.”“I know,” she replied without looking up. “There’s still a lot to figure out before the new staff arrives ”He walked inside and stopped a few steps away. “You don’t have to do everything yourself.”“I want to,” she said simply. “This part matters to me”Zane nodded and didn’t push. He had learned when to step back. They spent the rest of the morning together going through small decisions. Where the main display racks would go, how much space to leave for fitting rooms, and what kind of decoration would work best for the space. Aurelia made notes while Zane helped move a few heavier samples around when sh

Aurelia was sitting on the balcony floor with her laptop when Zane walked out holding two cups of coffee. She didn’t look up right away. She was still going through a list of brand name drafts she had been writing down since morning.Zane placed one cup beside her before sitting down near the railing. “You’re still doing this?” he asked.Aurelia nodded without pausing. “I said I would start building it properly.”Zane took a sip from his coffee. “You said that three days ago.”She finally looked up at him. “And I started three days ago.”That got a small reaction from him, almost a smile. The air between them felt lighter now than it had weeks ago. Not because everything was perfect, but because nothing urgent was hanging over them anymore. No company crisis, no hidden interference, and no unanswered system problems waiting to explode again. That part of their lives had already been dealt with. The system issue had ended quietly.Zane had made the final call himself. He didn’t drag it

“Bring him in.”Zane didn’t raise his voice but the instruction was clear. The assistant at the door didn’t waste time asking questions.Aurelia stood near the window with her arms crossed loosely. Her attention on everything that had led to this moment. She had gone over the details again before coming here because she wanted no gaps left when this unfolded. The door opened a minute later. The man from the workspace stepped in. It was the same one who had been pointed out the day before. He didn’t look nervous at first, just unsure why he had been called into Zane’s office.“Sir,” he said with a small nod.Zane gestured toward the chair in front of his desk. “Sit.”The man hesitated, then sat down.Zane stayed standing for a moment, his attention fixed on him, before he finally took his seat.“What’s your name?” Zane asked."Kyle,” he replied.Zane nodded. “How long have you been working on the renovation project?”“Almost two weeks now,” kyle replied.Zane leaned back slightly. “And

The next morning Aurelia got dressed, picked up her bag, and left for the space at the same time she had been leaving all week. From the outside it looked normal. But once she stepped inside her attention shifted immediately. She stood near the entrance and looked at her phone. “Did you send it already?”The supplier’s voice came through clearly. “Yes. It’s been processed.”Aurelia’s eyes moved across the details one more time. “And no one edited it this time?”“No,” he replied. “It went through exactly as you approved it.”“Good,” she said and ended the call. She slipped her phone into her bag and stepped fully inside. The place was almost done now. The lighting had been fixed, the walls were clean, and the layout she had planned was finally visible. It no longer looked like an empty idea. But that wasn’t what she focused on.Her attention moved across the room more slowly this time. She was waiting. The morning went on like every other the workers moved in and out.the deliveries ca
