Marietta’s POV

The world around me seemed to slow as my sister, Katty, tumbled down the golden staircase.

A scream tore from my throat.

I lunged forward, reaching for her, but it was too late.

“Katty! Somebody help! Anybody!” My voice was raw with panic.

I stumbled down after her, my heart pounding in terror as she landed with a sickening thud.

Gasps echoed around the grand hall, drawing the attention of the elegantly dressed guests. A murmur of disbelief rippled through the crowd, turning into hushed whispers, then sharp accusations.

“She pushed her!”

“After stealing her fiancé, now she wants her dead?”

“What kind of monster does that to her own sister?”

Tears blurred my vision. I barely registered the insults as I dropped to my knees beside Katty.

She clutched her stomach, wincing in pain. “Oww… my baby… please… save my baby…” Her trembling hands shoved mine away.

Then, her voice sharpened, loud enough for the entire room to hear. “Don’t touch me! You—murderer!”

The weight of her accusation crashed down on me. My breath hitched. Murderer?

No… no, this isn’t happening.

The sea of eyes on me felt suffocating. The murmurs turned into a vicious tide, growing louder.

I scrambled for words, for anything to make them stop. “No… I didn’t— I would never—”

A commotion at the entrance pulled everyone's attention.

Michael.

My husband. My lifeline.

Relief surged through me as his tall frame appeared in the doorway, his dark eyes scanning the chaos. He’ll listen to me. He’ll believe me.

I rushed toward him, grasping his arm. “Michael, I didn’t—”

But the moment he looked at me, I knew.

I saw it in his face— the betrayal, the disgust.

Without a word, he tore away from my grip and rushed to Katty’s side instead.

His voice was urgent. “Katty, are you alright?”

Katty whimpered, curling into his embrace. “No… I’m not okay… my baby…”

Michael’s gaze hardened as he turned toward the security team. “Call an ambulance! Now!”

I took a shaky step forward. “Michael, please. You know me—”

But before I could finish, his sharp glare cut through me like a blade.

“Don’t touch her.” His voice was cold. Ruthless.

I flinched. No. This isn’t him. This isn’t us.

“You did this on purpose, didn’t you?” His words came slow, deliberate. “God, Etta, how far were you willing to go?”

The knot in my throat tightened. “Michael, I—”

“You expect me to believe you?” His voice rose. “You’ve always been jealous of Katty. Always trying to hurt her. But this?” His eyes flashed with fury. “This is unforgivable.”

Something inside me shattered.

I had been terrified before, but nothing compared to this moment—

The moment I realized my husband didn’t trust me.

The paramedics arrived, cutting through the tension. Michael scooped Katty into his arms as she continued to cry.

“Please,” she whimpered, clutching his shirt. “Don’t let her near me.”

I stepped back, my chest tightening.

“Make sure nothing happens to her or the baby,” Michael ordered the paramedics. “Because if she loses that child, someone will pay.”

He didn’t have to say it.

I knew exactly who he meant.

I didn’t even remember how I got home.

One moment, I was surrounded by hundreds of people, drowning in their judgment.

The next, I was alone in our bedroom.

Empty.

I curled onto the bed, wrapping myself in the sheets that still smelled like him. Like us.

This morning, we had been tangled together in these very sheets.

“I love you, Marietta.”

He had whispered those words as he moved inside me, his touch possessive, his lips tender.

Now?

Now, he looked at me like I was nothing.

A stranger. A murderer.

I clutched the sheets tighter, my mind spiraling. He loves me. He has to.

I had convinced myself that, despite the arranged marriage, despite the obligations, there was something real between us.

Had I been a fool?

Was I really that easy to throw away?

The sound of the front door slamming shut jolted me back to reality.

Michael.

He was back.

I wiped my tears, inhaling sharply. This is my chance.

I had to explain. He had to listen.

I reached for the door, my hands trembling.

But before I could step out, his voice cut through the silence.

“I want a divorce.”

  • His Regret: Winning Back Her Heart   Chapter 331

Marietta’s POV “What do you say?” He asked again. I was about to respond when I heard Bella’s footsteps. I quickly hung up and pretended nothing happened. I was shivering so badly that Bella had to get me some of her clothes. “Here,” she stretched the cup of coffee towards me. “Thanks,” I gently placed the cup of coffee on the table while I changed into a new set of dry clothes. I watched Bella aim for the room, and the next minute, she was back with a hair dryer. “Your hair is wet.” She broke the silence. “Thanks,” was all I could say. The silence continued for a long time. And only the air dryer alone was the sound that filled the air. “Marietta,” “I'm listening,” I answered bluntly. I'm not sure what my feelings are right now. But I could tell I was losing interest in everything. “We are at risk,” Bella started. A conversation I wasn't ready to listen to. I felt so angry within myself. But I knew someone had to say it. I've got nothing to lose but Bella still has

  • His Regret: Winning Back Her Heart   Chapter 330

Marietta’s POVI can’t believe this has gotten to the point where I have to name my price for love.A path where I have to choose between love and sanity. Which should I go for? Tears streamed down my face as I tried to wriggle my hand away from Aiden. His mother’s eyes still lingered on mine as tears continued to roll down her cheeks as well.“Mother, this is emotional blackmail. And I won’t take it from you,” Aiden snapped, grabbing my hand as we both made our way out.The skies are gathering, ready to pour down their content like they used to do. The breeze tossed my hair across my face, causing it to stick to my face, which was already wet with tears.Preventing me from seeing Aiden, whose hands were still trying to reach out to me. I shook my head in disapproval as I took a few steps backward. “Marietta,” With the way he called my name, I knew this matter was a serious one. Now that both of us are in our right senses, we need to make a decision. The lightning in the sky r

Marietta’s POVMichael finally signed the divorce papers. For a moment, I felt relief. Like I could breathe again. Like I was finally done with Michael Whitmore—and the storm that came with him.But oddly, I wasn’t happy.“I’ll be leaving now,” Clara’s voice came from behind me, soft but certain. I quickly turned off my phone, caught off guard.I blinked rapidly, trying to swallow the tears that had been threatening to spill even before she walked in. But it was too late. She saw them.“You’re… leaving?” I asked, my voice cracking into a whisper.Since Bella’s wedding, she has been distant. I understood. She had a new life now, a husband to care for. I had once been like that—pouring all of myself into Michael. My time. My love. My everything. And yet, he still chose Katty over me.That chapter was closed now, or at least, I wanted it to be. I wasn’t planning to revisit the pain.“Yes,” Clara nodded, her smile fragile as she stepped closer. “My mother’s ill again. She needs me.”

  • His Regret: Winning Back Her Heart   Chapter 328

Marietta’s POVI had packed almost everything I thought I’d need. My suitcase sat open, overflowing with clothes I barely remembered folding. The silence in the room only made the ache in my chest worse. I wiped the tears from my cheeks and took one last glance around the house—the memories, the warmth, the heartbreak. Then I heard footsteps approaching.I straightened, trying to appear composed. Tough. But I couldn’t hold it in.I turned away from the door, not wanting anyone to see me this way.“Etta?”Bella’s voice cracked, her confusion heavy in the air. “Are you okay? Where are you going?”I didn’t answer immediately. Just kept my back to them and reached for my wardrobe, pretending to look for something.“Yes,” I finally said, forcing a smile that didn’t reach my eyes.“Etta, are you crying?” she stepped closer, her voice trembling. “I’m sorry about the other day—about not hanging out. I didn’t mean to—”“It’s okay,” I cut in gently, not wanting her to feel guilty. “You don’t ne

Marietta’s POVI stopped for a moment, unsure of what to say or even what to feel.Aiden had just said all the right things. But can I trust his words? Can he really handle everything like he said? How? How is he going to do that?“Etta?” He slowly placed me down, his eyes locking with mine.“Do you trust me?”I took a deep breath, still trying to figure it out in my head. My heart was racing. This would be the second time I’d say “yes” to Aiden. I wasn’t sure I had the strength again.“Aiden, I...” I paused. I looked into his eyes—those soft, deep eyes that made me fall the first time. And with everything in me, I whispered, “I trust you.”A small smile appeared on his face. He reached out and dragged my cheek with his fingers, making me smile too.But then, there was a loud knock at the door. We both turned.Bella was standing there, eyes wide, a playful expression on her face. “C’mon, girl, don’t be like that,” she teased.I laughed as Aiden and Lawrence exchanged one of those

He’s never hidden it. Every touch, every word, every glance screamed it. But love isn’t always enough. Not when his mother stands firm in her refusal to accept me.And I won't be the one to come between a mother and her child.I know what it means to lose someone you love.I know what grief tastes like.So maybe that old saying is right: If you love someone, let them go.That’s exactly what I’m doing now."I'm sorry, Aiden," I whispered softly into his ear. I placed a gentle kiss on his forehead and lingered for a moment, watching him curled up beneath the sheets, looking so much like a child. Peaceful. Vulnerable. It tore me apart.I slipped into my clothes quietly, each piece scattered across the floor like forgotten memories of last night’s passion. I grabbed my
