Marietta’s POV

He pulled away, a small trace of broth still in his mouth.

I opened my mouth to speak, but froze when I saw him casually chew the food he had taken from me.

“Tastes better than anything on the table,” Aiden said with a soft smile, leaving my cheeks burning with shyness.

Since being with Aiden, my heart had slowly begun to heal.

I’d been so wrapped up in my painful past that I hadn’t realized just how much I craved this — him.

He might be younger than me, but in every way that mattered, he was better.

Better than Michael. Better than anyone.

He was... simply the best.

“Are you done eating?” Aiden asked, settling back into his chair, his gaze still warm on me.

“But you haven’t touched your food,” I said, glancing at the untouched plate in front of him.

“I’m full,” he said simply. “Watching you eat is enough.”

Feeling a little flustered, I cleared my throat, picked up the glass of water, and took a long sip.
