*Demarion's point of view*

Adele came down the stairs, and the sound of her heels tapping against the steps reached my ears before I even saw her.

I pulled back from Serena the moment I heard it.

My eyes lifted.

And there she was.

Adele.

For one second, the world slowed. Her body went rigid on the stairs. I saw it happen. Her shoulders tightened at first. Then her breath caught. Even from where I stood, I could hear the shift in her heartbeat. Fast and Uneven.

Pain flashed across her face befo

*Adele's point of view*I woke up to the soft sound of birds chirping.A warm, gentle breeze brushed calmly against my skin. Sunlight poured over me, bright and comforting, nothing like the cold darkness I remembered. For a moment… I just sat there. Then I realized the surrounding of where I was. I was seated inside a pavilion, open on all sides. In front of me stretched a wide field of green grass, dotted with flowers of every color. Reds, yellows, purples, blues. They swayed lightly with the wind, like they were alive.Beyond the field stood tall trees, their branches reaching high into the sky. They grew thicker the farther they went, forming a deep forest that seemed endless. And just ahead, the field met a lake. The water shimmered under the sunlight, calm and still, reflecting the sky like a mirror. Butterflies floated lazily through the air. Bees buzzed softly as they moved from flower to flower.Somewhere nearby, squirrels chattered, while birds flew between the trees, their s

*Adele's point of view*The chair behind her slammed into the wall with a loud crash. Her chest heaved as she stared at me, something wild in her eyes.“It was not fair,” she repeated, her voice shaking. “From the moment Casey and I came of age… he took us. Again and again. We had no choice. There was nothing we could do.”Her words hung in the air, heavy and broken. And for a second, I saw the pain and the anger in her eyes. Then she inhaled deeply, forcing herself to calm down. But what came next was worse. In one swift motion, she pulled out a small knife and a lighter. The soft flick of the flame echoed in the quiet cell.“But you…” she said, her voice lower now, almost curious. She held the blade over the flame, the metal slowly heating and glowing faintly.“You always escaped him,” she continued, her eyes locked on mine. “He could never even leave a mark on you.”The tip of the blade turned red.“Tell me… how did you do it?”Her voice sounded almost sincere. Almost.“Because I f

*Adele's point of view*“Wait… say that again?” I asked, still trying to catch up with what my wold had just said.“I know,” she replied, her tone tight with frustration. “These girls really planned everything out. They did not miss a thing.”I exhaled slowly, forcing my thoughts to settle. “Did they really?” I muttered. “Because I just spoke with Serenity… and I think I might know how to get out of here. It is not going to be quick though.”A small pause.“Did you reach Trevor?” I asked, my voice sharpening with urgency.“Yeah, I did,” she said. “And Cindy told Demarion too. They are already trying to find you. But it is not easy. James is… not in a good state right now. Aurora’s betrayal hit him hard. And since he is the best tracker we have, Demarion does not want to push him too much.”Her words settled heavily in my chest.“They are trying,” she added softly. “But if we could figure out where you are, I could go back, tell Trevor, and we could actually do something.”I closed my

*Adele's point of view*“I saw,” she said softly. “But tell me… were you truly trying to free yourself? Or were you reacting out of fear? Was it just your instinct taking over, pushing you into fight or flight?”Her words made me pause.“This is what I am trying to show you,” she continued. “You will not break free until you decide to. Not because of fear, not because of pain, but because of pure will. The same way people remain trapped in their own emotions. They stay stuck because they are not willing themselves to let go. They do not choose to release the past or believe in a better future.”Her voice carried a quiet strength and I let out a long breath. Why did people like her always speak like this? So calm and so wise. And yet somehow, so confusing.“Serenity,” I said, rubbing my temple slightly against my shoulder, “that sounded deep and beautiful, but it still does not tell me what I am supposed to do. Can you just tell me clearly? Or at least give me something simple. A hint,

*Adele's point of view*“Serenity?” I asked, my voice low. Every part of my body ached. Even breathing felt like work, so moving was not an option.“Yes, of course,” she replied softly. She stepped around me and stopped right in front of me. I had to tilt my head slightly just to meet her eyes.“How are you, dear?” she asked, her hands folded neatly in front of her like everything was calm and normal.I just stared at her. My eyes locked onto hers, refusing to look away. She looked down at me with that gentle, motherly expression, full of concern. It almost made me laugh.“Are you serious?” I muttered, my voice dry.“Yes,” she answered without hesitation.“Oh… wow.” I let out a slow breath. This could not be happening right now.I mean, she could clearly see me. I was tied to a chair, my wrists aching against the restraints. Bruises covered my body, some fresh, some already darkening. My stomach felt hollow. I had not eaten since they took me.So how could she stand there and ask me h

*Adele's point of view*"Yeah." The voice came from beside Claire. "Hi."I turned slowly and there she was. Aurora, standing next to Claire like she had always been there, like none of this was wrong. Then, a broken breath left my lips.What. The. Heck?"Seriously?" I whispered, my voice rising without control. "You?" My eyes burned as I stared at her. "What did I ever do to you? Tell me. Because right now, I am trying to understand."My chest heaved, my heart racing, anger rising fast and hot."When you came to Italy..." Aurora started, her expression twisting, "everything changed."I stayed quiet to hear what she had to say."At first, it was fine," she continued. "But then, suddenly, you became everything." Her voice sharpened. "The golden child."I blinked, confused."It was always 'Adele this' and 'Adele that.'" Her hands clenched at her sides. "Why can't you be more like Adele?"Her tone sounded hotter now."I was sick of it! Before you, I did not have to try. I did not even hav

*Demarion's point of view*“Woah,” Adele and I said at the same time when Valentino raised the gun.My instincts kicked in immediately.“Calm down,” I said slowly, lifting my hands slightly as I took a careful step toward him. “You don’t have to do this.”Valentino’s grip on the gun tightened. “One

*Adele's point of view* A rough shake dragged me out of sleep.I groaned and pushed at the hand. "Okay, okay. I am awake. Relax."Demarion's hand fell away, but his stare did not.
