Chapter 7:

Alpha Jacob's POV.

I leaped out from behind an evergreen oak and I transformed back into my human with blood dripping down from the sides of my mouth because I had just returned from a hunting Spee in the nearby forest.

I ambled confidently straight into the village square of my pack with only navy blue jeans, barefoot and I sensed eyes on me with indistinct chatter around me. But that was nothing new to me as I was used to it, while ladies in my pack have been eye fucking me for years ever since my Luna passed on to be with our ancestors.

"Good morning, Alpha Jacob. The elders are having a meeting about you in the castle." Beta Olivia spoke out while she joined me as I strolled back to my castle.

I chuckled with a naughty smirk on my face while I snuffed out the blood stains on my face with my palms.

The news she delivered did not bother me much because for the past few years, I have been mourning the loss of my Luna Avery who died in a tragic hunting Spee gone wrong and since then, I had become very cold and distant from the day-to-day problems of my village.

I'm Alpha Jacob Shepard, the feared leader of the midnight pack, and I had just turned thirty years old. My methods of battle were tactical hence many packs were forced to form an allegiance with me in fear of my attack. I lived in Bucharest Romania with more than one million inhabitants, hence I had a great deal of responsibility running my pack.

"So tell me, what is new about their meeting today Beta?" I raised a question in a deep voice without glancing at her.

"Alpha, there are saying you need a new Luna for the prosperity of the pack." She answered back in a low voice as she knew how I felt about me replacing my beloved Avery.

I stopped and veered my attention to her face with unblinking focused eye contact while I clenched my jaws and fists at her statement.

Beta Olivia glanced down to the ground in submission as her chest visibly moved up and down while she gasped for air.

"Where are they?" My eyes gleamed to a yellowish glow with a scowl on my face.

"They are in the meeting chambers." She stuttered.

"Ok, excuse me, I have a meeting to get to." I hurriedly sauntered straight to the elders in the castle.

They knew very well that I had no intentions of ever replacing my Luna Avery and anyone mentioning it knew how angry it got me.

How dare they hold another stupid meeting about me finding a mate without me? My teeth gritted as I huffed and puffed.

"Good morning Alpha Jacob, the elders have been waiting on you." Gamma Nick said with a pale face while he handed me a crisp long-sleeved white smart shirt. He was the first person who welcomed me into the lounge.

He was a good servant in the castle with its day-to-day running as he made sure everything was going on smoothly even without my presence.

I snatched my shirt and wore it without buttoning the buttons.

"Is that so?" I snarled loudly and then badged into the meeting chamber stuttering all the elders in the room as all of their bodies quivered in fright at my abrupt intrusion.

"Don't let me stop your meeting. You may proceed." I said sarcastically then plunged into my seat at the head of the table.

The five elders in the room all became silent while one's lips quivered, the other broke a sweat on his forehead and the other's eyes widened in fear.

"Alpha Jacob, how how.. did your hunting go." Epsilon Damon whimpered.

"My hunt was great, now continue with your meeting," I growled.

All my elder's bodies shuddered at my growl.

"Alpha Jacob, we were just talking about you... sorry, but the village needs a Luna to assist in the day-to-day running of the pack." Epsilon Nelly stuttered with her head bent down in submission.

I pulled a face to her statement and smacked the wooden table hard with my palm causing it to crack as I huffed and puffed loudly.

"And who said that I need an assistant to help me do my job uh?" I skimmed the room with a grimace.

"Alpha Jacob, don't get us wrong, but who will keep the peace when you left the pack to go attend to other urgent matters?" Epsilon Michael inquired with a serious face.

"Samantha can make a good Luna. She is highly trained to rule by your side… You have a week to find a Luna or Samantha will be the pack's Luna." Epsilon Emilio blurted out loud with boldness his chest sticking out.

"You will not dictate how I run my pack, or whether to find a mate or not. Don't let me lose the little respect I have for all of you in this room." I leaned on the table while everyone else inclined to their seats with pale faces.

I jerked up from the chair and sauntered out of the room straight to my private room with a reddened face.

I got to my bedroom to find some peace and quiet for a while, and low and behold, Beta Samantha, Emilio's daughter was in my room naked and sexy posed on my bed.

She was a twenty-five-year-old red-haired attractive woman with curves in the right places, but I was never going to cheat on my Avery with her.

Not even in her death, no. I coiled my hands into a ball.

"Hey, sexy!" Samantha sauntered to me swaying her hips from side to side seductively with her piecing luring emerald green eyes.

But it was funny how I never found any other woman attractive apart from my Avery. I scoffed at her greeting and went straight for the bathroom... ignoring her while I removed my clothes and got into a hot steamy shower which I was dying to get into.

"ahh!" a soft howl left my mouth, while I sighed heavily as I tried to keep my eyes open. I was so exhausted to deal with her silly ass.

Samantha was a childhood friend who openly had a crush on me and ever since my Luna passed, she had tirelessly tried to get me to mark her as my Luna, but I just was not into her, so this was not her first attempt to seduce me as I usually just brushed her off and she would leave me eventually.

With my head hanging low while the water droplets trickled down my body in the shower, Samantha quietly strolled behind me and grazed her fingers on my back.

My body quivered at her touch as I immediately veered around to face her.

"What are you doing here?" I growled.

"Calm down babe, I just came to please you." She kneels on the tiled floor and attempted to touch my cock.

"Stop it and get out" my canines emitted from the gums. I pushed her backward earning her a butt tumble.

"Awe..." she got up from the floor and faced me.

"Alpha Jacob, Avery is gone and you need to move on with me your next Luna." She yelled with crimson cheeks.

"Samantha, I will forget you are a good friend of mine and do something stupid if you don't leave me alone now." I snarled loudly with an animalistic snarl.

She shuddered then instantly walked out of the bathroom and slammed the bedroom door.

I sighed heavily and then returned to my shower.

A few minutes later, a frantic knock was heard on my door, my head jerked up in response to the sound, I grabbed my towel and wrapped it around my waist, and sauntered to my door. I opened it and Beta Olivia was at my door panting hard.

"Sorry to disturb you, Alpha, but the west side of the village has been attacked by the Rogues from the dark forest." She spoke rapidly while trying to catch her breath.

"What?"

This was the second time they are wandering into my village pulling out such a stunt in broad daylight.

"I have had enough of this nonsense. Gather the strongest Betas and follow me to the dark forest now."

My body instantaneously shifted into my peach-black gigantic wolf and howled out loud to signal my pack to get ready for battle should the need be.

"Yes, Alpha." Beta Olivia also shifted into her grey wolf and ran off to assemble the wolves.

My paws thudded heavily on the ground into the dark forest as I led the path. I stopped because my nozzle sniffed up a sweet alluring scent accompanied by blood, which I had sensed only once in my life when I was mated with my previous Luna Avery. What going on? Can it be that she has come back to life? No that's not possible, I watched her die in my arms…but then what could this sweet scent mean, a growl left my lips while I glanced around and my pack members were standing next to me.

'What's wrong Alpha Jacob?' Olivia snarled in the mind link.

'I smell blood, follow me.' I fibbed to Olivia but the sweet desirous scent tugged me and I could not resist it anymore.

I growled and ran in the direction the scent was coming from.

We got there and spotted three Rogues circling a young dark haired naked lady on the ground with blood gushing out of her body, then one of the Rogue's sharp teeth abutted near her delicate skin and tried to take a bite…but then a sweet scent seeped into my nostrils and although I didn’t see the female’s face, I knew who she was.

Seeing red, I leaped into the scene, I bite the rogue leg's between my sharpened jaws and flung him against a tree earning a bellow of immense pain all over his body.

He whimpered out loud and ran off whining. The other two Rogues turned to me and growled out loud thinking I was alone, then my pack members jumped in, resulting in the Rogues backing off slightly as they snarled at us…

'Enough!' I let out an Alpha's menacingly growl and the two Rogues instantly whimpered with their tails in between their legs and vanished into the forest.

Beta Olivia ambled closer to the injured unconscious female to check on her. I was stuck in position, and my heart raced, not knowing what to make of the mouthwatering scent wafting into my nose.

Could she be… No. It’s not possible?

'Alpha, she is an omega, and her wounds are not healing.' Beta Olivia snarled.

I groaned and moved closer, shifting back to my human form, the female scent becoming stronger and the moment our eyes met, the whole world faded away.

My heart pounded as the mate bond snapped into place and I frowned. This is not happening.

The female averted my gaze and whimpered, making me scoff. The moon goddess must be playing a trick on me. How could she link me to a weak female? My head was reeling with thoughts but my heart and wolf felt something else.

For the first time in years, my wolf felt alive and so did I.

Looking at the wound on her back, I growled and crouched down, pulling her into my arms. Intense sparks danced along my skin and I felt her tremble in my arms.

“Relax… Alpha saliva heals wounds. I just want to help you.” I couldn’t bring myself to say, mate… it’s unfair to Avery.

The female’s heart was racing and I don’t know if it was from fear or excitement. Leaning over, I ran my rough tongue along her back and my cock immediately hardened.

I tensed, holding back a groan but I didn’t miss the small moan that escaped the Omega's lips.

Something snapped within me when I heard that sound and I lost it. I licked the wounds with my tongue eagerly while holding her close to me, relishing in the sparks and tingles that coursed through me.

What is happening to me?
