Ethan didn't stop talking, but I tuned him out. Whatever he was spouting from that damn mouth of his didn’t get to my head. Karl slowly stood up from his seat, and Ethan turned towards him. “Mr. Moretti, I advise you to stay away from her. She's nothing but a gold digger and a slu-” Karl didn't wait for Ethan to complete his statement before punching him hard on his nose. I stood up in surprise as Ethan staggered to the floor. He held his nose with one hand. Blood rushed out of the already broken nose, and I turned to Karl, who had a cold glare on his face as he stared at Ethan. “Don't you dare speak about her in such a manner” Karl warned, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. I have never heard him speak that way. “Sorry for the inconvenience, love, let's leave.” He turned to me, his cold glare completely turning warm. I nodded in response, and we walked out of the restaurant, leaving a groaning Ethan on the floor as he tried to stop his bleeding nose. The punch Karl gave to Ethan is the highlight of my evening. Satisfying is a word barely able to describe what I feel right now. “Thank you” I said, as Karl started the engine and drove out of the parking lot. “For?” Karl asked. “hitting him” I answered, and Karl smiled. “You don't need to thank me for that, love,” Karl responded. “I'm sorry we ran into him there. That restaurant would be getting a bad review from me for letting a parasite ruin our dinner,” “you don't need to give the restaurant a bad review. No one expected Ethan to be there” I contradicted “Sure” Karl replied calmly, his eyes focused on the road. “Too bad the food is wasted” I sighed, and Karl chuckled but didn't reply. The car fell into a comfortable silence and I brought out my phone from my bag. Beatrice’s text popped in. She was only informing me that Lily would be spending the night at our place. My mind wondered about the text I got this morning, and I sighed. “Is something wrong?” Karl asked. “No” I replied, and he didn't seem like he believed me, but he nodded. I stared at his perfectly sculpted face, my heart raced at how handsome he looked from this angle. He is no doubt the most handsome man I have ever seen, and I have seen my share of handsome men, even on TV. I smiled a little. “Can't take your eyes off me, love?” I heard Karl say, and I blinked. “I don’t know what you mean,” I quickly returned my eyes to my phone, and Karl smirked. Oh Lana, what are you doing? Haven't you learned your lesson yet? You're still recovering from Ethan. I kept reprimanding myself as the car stopped in front of my apartment building. “I would make sure our dinner isn't interrupted next time,” Karl said to me. “There won't be a next time,” I muttered, but Karl smiled. “Oh really?” he raised an eyebrow, and I opened the door and got down without answering him. “Thank you for the ride,” I said and hurried into my apartment building. When I got into the living room, I didn’t see Beatrice nor Lily. “I'm back” I yelled. “In the kitchen” Beatrice replied loudly, and I walked towards the kitchen to meet them making…. What the hell were they making? Lily is literally covered in flour while Beatrice was half covered in flour. “What's going on here?” I asked curiously. “We are making donuts” Lily squealed happily. “It's almost 9pm” I blinked at Beatrice. “She wanted homemade donuts” Beatrice pulled a face, and I rubbed my temples. “You both should go take a shower, I would make the donuts” I said, stepping into the kitchen. “You should take a shower first,” Beatrice said to me. “I would handle it” she added. “I'd rather not have a burnt kitchen, Trixie,” I said and turned to Lily. “Aunt Beatrice would give you a bubble bath” “Yaayy!” Lily jumped excitedly, and I smiled. Beatrice took Lily to the bathroom to have a shower while I tried to salvage the damage done in the kitchen. - Beatrice walked back into the kitchen with Lily, both looking refreshed and definitely not covered in flour anymore. “I believe you can take it from here” I said to Beatrice, and she nodded. “Don't forget to keep it at a low heat” I said as I walked out of the kitchen. I took a warm bath and wore comfortable clothes, then walked back into the leaving room. Beatrice was already done, and she brought the donuts to the living room while Lily hopped repeatedly. “Donuts, donuts, donuts” she sang like a hymn. “Seat quietly if you want to eat” Beatrice said, and Lily quickly sat down quietly. “When you're done eating, we would call it a night” I said, and Lily nodded. She could barely hear me. Her entire focus was on the donut in front of her, and I chuckled. I wish I was like Lily. Not having anything to worry about would be heaven. “Aunt Lana, when would I get to see your handsome boyfriend again?” Lily asked, and Beatrice choked on her donut. “Boyfriend?” She turned to me. “Yes, haven't you seen him? He is really handsome” Lily answered, smiling. “Oh wow,” Beatrice smiled too as she blinked at me. “Lily doesn't know what she's talking about,” I clarified, and Beatrice scoffed. "How did she get the idea of a 'boyfriend' then?" Beatrice asked. "she's right in front of you. Ask her yourself," I responded, and Beatrice rolled her eyes. "They were standing so close. It was romantic," Lily chuckled. "Who is teaching you these things?" Beatrice complained. "I wonder when you're the one with her most of the time," I said. "Slander," Beatrice retorted, and I laughed.LanaI turned and I met Karl, standing not too far from me. “I told you to wait in the car," I walked towards him.“And you expect me to?” Karl asked.“Isn't that why instructions are given?” I snapped.“He is lying,” Karl said, and I blinked. There's no way Karl heard our conversation except... he has super human hearing, which is next to impossible.Right?“Did you hear our conversation?” I asked, just to be sure he doesn't have super hearing.“No, but I can read lips and people's actions too. He looks too calm, and that is not good,” Karl replied, walking towards the car, and I followed behind him."You're also too calm," I retorted."Why are you so inclined on defending him?" Karl questioned, I could tell he is losing his cool a little.Wait... Is he jealous? Definitely not!“How do you know he is lying? he looks genuine to me, though. I may not know Cole that well, but he doesn't give off that kind of vibe,” I said as we got to Karl's car.“Love, if you keep relying on vibe, you
Lana “I don't think it's a good idea for you to meet him especially since he might be one of the one who led to your kidnapping,” Beatrice tried to talk me out of going to meet Cole. I waited for Jenna this morning after I was done with my shift and asked her to help get through to Cole so I could talk to him, I tried calling him using my phone, but it always went to voice mail. I told him to meet with me this afternoon, and he readily agreed, which was weird, because why wouldn't he take my call? I didn't tell him why I wanted to see him or anything concerning my kidnapping just to be on a safer side. “I have to meet with him myself to know what's going on,” I said, and Beatrice pressed her lips together. “Why don't you let Karl handle it?” She asked, and I paused. I definitely can't let Karl handle things because this is way deeper than my kidnapping. It's about my mother. I could still remember the disappointment on Karl's face when I demanded to come back home immediately
Karl Lana looked like she didn't know what to say. What did those bastards tell her?I have always been worried about this exact thing, I have been afraid of drawing her into my world because it's not a place for someone like her.I didn't expect my fears to haunt me so fast, I can still remember how fucking scared I was when Ryan told me she was missing.I was already drawing up a list of possible suspects in my head but none of them fit. When I realized that, I got even more scared because I don't know the enemy or how to find Lana.I was more than glad to know there were cameras on the streets where her apartment building is located. It wasn't hard to find the car they took her in.“Lana” I heard Beatrice call, and then my bedroom door pushed open.Beatrice ran to her sister and engulfed her in a tight hug while I stood up from the bed, my eyes falling on Ryan.“I was so scared,” Beatrice says.“You're suffocating me” Lana taps her sister lightly.“Sorry,” Beatrice pulled away.“
Lana I force my eyes open. My head throbbed badly as I tried to keep my eyes open. “Awake?” I heard a deep voice. I tried to move, but my hands were restricted, tied behind the chair I didn't know I was sitting on. My legs were also tied to the same chair, I raised my head up to meet a pair of black eyes. “What do you want?” I bit out, my throat was tight, and my heart drummed uncontrollably in my chest. I have been kidnapped. “Calm down pretty, we are just getting started,” the man chuckled, and fear blew up in me. Nothing about his expression said anything good. “Who are you? Who sent you to me?” I asked again, desperate for answers. “Patiences, I was asked to scare you a little but don't worry, you'd be free after we get what we want,” The man raised my head with his fingers and I turn my head away making him chuckle. “sit tight,” he smiled and walked out of the small room. I looked around me, the room was empty, the light bulb was turned on, it's basically the only thin
LanaWhy is he here?He shouldn’t be here right now.My eyes met with Karl's empty ones, and i pressed my lips together.Stella stood beside me, and Karl's eyes went to her.“Didn't you hear what I said?” He raised an eyebrow, clearly displeased.Stella couldn't move. I could feel her visibly stiffened beside me. It seems all her confidence obliterated. Her feet left the floor slowly, and she walked out of the kitchen.“Come with me,” Karl said to me and left. This isn't right, I don't like this, Karl's presence only made the situation worse. He only confirmed how right Stella was, and that made my blood boil.He shouldn't have come here and fired Stella.I followed Karl into Roman’s office. The elevator ride was long as hell.“Why are you here?” I asked again.“That chef posted a picture of the both of us in the staff group, Roman saw it and told me about it, aren't you in the group?” He asked, and I blinked. No one was nice enough to tell me there was a staff group.“No, Stella show
LanaI was at work this morning when I saw the news, something didn't feel right about it.Ethan and Hannah’s marriage has been buzzing on social media for a very long time, and now they are calling it off.Hannah’s parents said they don't think they were a good match, though nothing has been heard from Ethan’s family. I believe the engagement has officially sunk.My phone pinged. “This is definitely what we call karma” Beatrice sent me a photo, I thought it was the failed engagement news, but I was wrong.Ethan’s family has completely been bankrupt. It even said they were going to sell their mansion.Damn.Sell their mansion? I remember when I always thought of what to wear when Ethan finally introduced me to his parents. I even kept some cash aside to buy a really expensive dress that would fit his family's wealth.“Isn't this too suspicious to be karma?” I texted Beatrice.“I doesn't matter, sis, it's still karma” I read Beatrice’s message and signed. This is definitely suspicio
