I turned and I met Karl, standing not too far from me. “I told you to wait in the car," I walked towards him. “And you expect me to?” Karl asked. “Isn't that why instructions are given?” I snapped. “He is lying,” Karl said, and I blinked. There's no way Karl heard our conversation except... he has super human hearing, which is next to impossible. Right? “Did you hear our conversation?” I asked, just to be sure he doesn't have super hearing. “No, but I can read lips and people's actions too. He looks too calm, and that is not good,” Karl replied, walking towards the car, and I followed behind him. "You're also too calm," I retorted. "Why are you so inclined on defending him?" Karl questioned, I could tell he is losing his cool a little. Wait... Is he jealous? Definitely not! “How do you know he is lying? he looks genuine to me, though. I may not know Cole that well, but he doesn't give off that kind of vibe,” I said as we got to Karl's car. “Love, if you keep relying on vibe, you'll get deceived easily,” Karl replied. “Then should I have asked to see his phone?” I asked. “He probably deleted it already, or he used a different phone,” Karl replied, and I sighed. That is true. “You sound like you know something that I don't, what is it?” I asked. “I don't know what you're talking about,” Karl replied and walked towards the driver seat. I know he is hiding something. Does he know about my mother? If the messages I got about my mother being involved with the Moretti family, then does Karl know her? I pulled the car door open and got inside. “Do you know my mother?” I asked as I fastened my seat belt. “Why are you asking?” Karl replied. I turned to him and squinted my eyes, watching for any hint that would indicate he knew her. But one thing is for sure, I have to do something about this, I need to know what happened to my mother. I always knew it wasn't a robbery gone wrong, and my kidnapping confirms my suspicions, and Karl looks like he knows something. Maybe he can help me, I never thought about that, but I guess that's my only choice. “My mother was killed fifteen years ago, a robbery gone wrong,” I say, and Karl turned to me like he wasn't sure why I was telling him this. “I don’t believe it's a robbery gone wrong, and I was kidnapped because of her. It seems she offended some people, so I want to find out what happened,” I added. “That sounds dangerous,” Karl replied. “Exactly why I need to find out what happened, I have been convincing myself to that it was actually a robbery gone wrong but it seems I can't anymore, I want to know the truth,” I said, determination written all over my face and I can tell Karl noticed it. Karl didn't reply for a while. Maybe he is thinking of the best way to reply, I mean, I did just dump all of that on him. But I am relieved, I feel a little bit light about the situation. “You were kidnapped because of her?” He asked, and I nodded. Was that the reply he could think of? “They wanted something my mother is hiding, and they think I have it, but I don’t think they would be coming after my for now.” I replied. “Do you?” Karl asked. “Of course not,” I answered. “I would look into it and see what I can find and to answer your question, no, I don't know your mother,” Karl said and turned on the engine. I expected that answer. It was a long time ago. He was still a kid, too. Of course, he wouldn't know her. I didn't tell Karl about the messages, not yet though, I want to know what he knew first and of possible find out how the Moretti and my mother knew each other. _ The car stopped in front of my apartment building, and I turned to Karl. “Thank you,” “Is staying here safe for you?” Karl asked. “I don't think I would get kidnapped twice in a row. My luck is bad but not that bad,” I replied and got down from the car. "Call me immediately something happens," Karl said to me, and I nodded. I waved goodbye to him, and he drove off. My phone pinged. A message from Beatrice. “I would be staying on campus with a friend, make sure to lock the door and don't open it no matter who message you,” “Yes ma'am,” Beatrice hardly or never stays on campus, no matter how far the school is from my apartment. She simply depise it for reasons only known. I guess she made a friend she’s close enough with to stay on campus with her, and I am happy about that. she hardly made friends, and I thought I was terrible at making friends The evening is darker than usual, and I look up to the sky to see dark, gathering clouds It seems it's about to rain. Yay, spring. I walked into the building and went straight to my apartment. When I reached the door, I saw someone sitting on the floor in front of my door, his back leaning on the door like he was waiting for me to arrive. when I got close, I could finally recognize the person. FUCKING HELL. “Ethan?” I called walking towards him. Ethan stood up immediately, and he saw me, and I frowned hard. “What the fuçk are you doing in my apartment?” I asked. The memories of the last time he was here sent shivers down my body. I clenched my hand into fist as I glared daggers at the man in front of me. His presence is truly disgusting. “Lana,” he called my name, and I felt like punching him hard. The audacity to call my name. ASSHOLE!LanaI turned and I met Karl, standing not too far from me. “I told you to wait in the car," I walked towards him.“And you expect me to?” Karl asked.“Isn't that why instructions are given?” I snapped.“He is lying,” Karl said, and I blinked. There's no way Karl heard our conversation except... he has super human hearing, which is next to impossible.Right?“Did you hear our conversation?” I asked, just to be sure he doesn't have super hearing.“No, but I can read lips and people's actions too. Lana “I don't think it's a good idea for you to meet him especially since he might be one of the one who led to your kidnapping,” Beatrice tried to talk me out of going to meet Cole. I waited for Jenna this morning after I was done with my shift and asked her to help get through to Cole so I could talk to him, I tried calling him using my phone, but it always went to voice mail. I told him to meet with me this afternoon, and he readily agreed, which was weird, because why wouldn't he take my call? I didn't tell him why I wanted to see him or anything concerning my kidnapping just to be on a safer side. “I have to meet with him myself to know what's going on,” I said, and Beatrice pressed her lips together. “Why don't you let Karl handle it?” She asked, and I paused. I definitely can't let Karl handle things because this is way deeper than my kidnapping. It's about my mother. I could still remember the disappointment on Karl's face when I demanded to come back home immediately
Karl Lana looked like she didn't know what to say. What did those bastards tell her?I have always been worried about this exact thing, I have been afraid of drawing her into my world because it's not a place for someone like her.I didn't expect my fears to haunt me so fast, I can still remember how fucking scared I was when Ryan told me she was missing.I was already drawing up a list of possible suspects in my head but none of them fit. When I realized that, I got even more scared because I don't know the enemy or how to find Lana.I was more than glad to know there were cameras on the streets where her apartment building is located. It wasn't hard to find the car they took her in.“Lana” I heard Beatrice call, and then my bedroom door pushed open.Beatrice ran to her sister and engulfed her in a tight hug while I stood up from the bed, my eyes falling on Ryan.“I was so scared,” Beatrice says.“You're suffocating me” Lana taps her sister lightly.“Sorry,” Beatrice pulled away.“
Lana I force my eyes open. My head throbbed badly as I tried to keep my eyes open. “Awake?” I heard a deep voice. I tried to move, but my hands were restricted, tied behind the chair I didn't know I was sitting on. My legs were also tied to the same chair, I raised my head up to meet a pair of black eyes. “What do you want?” I bit out, my throat was tight, and my heart drummed uncontrollably in my chest. I have been kidnapped. “Calm down pretty, we are just getting started,” the man chuckled, and fear blew up in me. Nothing about his expression said anything good. “Who are you? Who sent you to me?” I asked again, desperate for answers. “Patiences, I was asked to scare you a little but don't worry, you'd be free after we get what we want,” The man raised my head with his fingers and I turn my head away making him chuckle. “sit tight,” he smiled and walked out of the small room. I looked around me, the room was empty, the light bulb was turned on, it's basically the only thin
LanaWhy is he here?He shouldn’t be here right now.My eyes met with Karl's empty ones, and i pressed my lips together.Stella stood beside me, and Karl's eyes went to her.“Didn't you hear what I said?” He raised an eyebrow, clearly displeased.Stella couldn't move. I could feel her visibly stiffened beside me. It seems all her confidence obliterated. Her feet left the floor slowly, and she walked out of the kitchen.“Come with me,” Karl said to me and left. This isn't right, I don't like this, Karl's presence only made the situation worse. He only confirmed how right Stella was, and that made my blood boil.He shouldn't have come here and fired Stella.I followed Karl into Roman’s office. The elevator ride was long as hell.“Why are you here?” I asked again.“That chef posted a picture of the both of us in the staff group, Roman saw it and told me about it, aren't you in the group?” He asked, and I blinked. No one was nice enough to tell me there was a staff group.“No, Stella show
LanaI was at work this morning when I saw the news, something didn't feel right about it.Ethan and Hannah’s marriage has been buzzing on social media for a very long time, and now they are calling it off.Hannah’s parents said they don't think they were a good match, though nothing has been heard from Ethan’s family. I believe the engagement has officially sunk.My phone pinged. “This is definitely what we call karma” Beatrice sent me a photo, I thought it was the failed engagement news, but I was wrong.Ethan’s family has completely been bankrupt. It even said they were going to sell their mansion.Damn.Sell their mansion? I remember when I always thought of what to wear when Ethan finally introduced me to his parents. I even kept some cash aside to buy a really expensive dress that would fit his family's wealth.“Isn't this too suspicious to be karma?” I texted Beatrice.“I doesn't matter, sis, it's still karma” I read Beatrice’s message and signed. This is definitely suspicio
