“What are you doing here?” I asked.

“I need you to talk to your boyfriend,” Ethan said.

“Boyfriend?” I asked, not sure what he was talking about, then it hit me. He is talking about Karl. “What do you mean?” I raised an eyebrow.

“It's all your fault! I wouldn't have ended up like this if it weren't for you,” Ethan screamed, and I flinched.

What on earth is he talking about. “Don't blame me for your unfortunate situation. You just can't face the fact that karma is real,” I snapped.

“Karma?” Ethan scoffed. “Your boyfriend did this to me because of you, I don't know how you convinced him or how you managed to wrap him around your fingers, but I know you are behind it!” He yelled, walking closer to me, and I stepped back.

“I didn't do anything!” I retorted. “You need to leave right now!” I said, trying to walk past him to my door when he held my wrist.

Nausea hit me like a wave as I relived through the memory of what happened last time.

I suddenly forgot how to breathe, and my heart raced uncontrollably.

I quickly pulled my hand from Ethan’s hold, hard and rough. “Don't touch me!” I yelled at him.

He frowned, then laughed sarcastically. “seriously? You're just going to ignore me? After what you did?” Ethan yelled.

“isn't that what you did? Did you tell me you are getting engaged to Hannah? Did you even have the decency to break up with me?” I yelled back at him.

“Don't yell at me. You had that coming,” Ethan defended, and I scoffed unbelievably. “this is not why I am here. Tell Karl to undo what he did. My family is completely ruined because of you,” Ethan said.

He doesn't look like he is lying, I knew something was suspicious about what Beatrice called “karma”.

“I don’t have anything to do with what happened to your family? Can't you ask Hannah for help?” I asked, but he remained silent. “Ohhh did she abandon you?” I rolled my eyes at him.

Ethan’s eyes flared. Looks like I hit a nerve.

He walked closer to me, and I quickly stepped back. “Don’t taste my patience, Lana,” he warned.

“leave,” I tell him, but he wasn’t listening. “Ethan I would call the police if you don’t leave!” I yelled.

“I have nothing to lose anyway, go ahead, call the police,” Ethan scoffed.

I tried taking my phone out of my bag, but he pushed me, and I staggered, almost losing my balance.

The look on Ethan’s eyes tells me he won't let me go that easily.

Oh heavens, what did I do in my past life to deserve this?

I bit the inner walls of my mouth. “Why do you have to be such an asshole?” I said, and Ethan scoffed.

“Just do as I say and talk to that boyfriend of yours,” He replied, and I swallowed.

The space felt too small, too suffocating, I don't think anyone is on this floor, Katelyn is out of town, and the neighbors below this floor definitely won't hear me if I screamed.

Shìt, No… not again.

I shoved Ethan hard, taking him by suprise as he staggered out of my way.

I sprinted past him and down the stares. “Shit,” I heard him say as he ran after me.

My legs ran as fast as they could, while Ethan chased after me.

When I got outside the apartment building, I ran straight for the streets and how I dread how quiet this area is.

Ethan was getting closer, I just needed to reach the main road, and I did.

I ran towards the bus stop where some people were seated, waiting for the bus, and I joined them.

I saw Ethan standing behind, and I turned my face away.

My heart was still racing, and my breathing was rough due to how fast I ran here.

I placed my palm on my chest as tears stung my eyes.

God, I was fuçking terrified.

I brought out my phone, my hands shaking as I hovered over my contact list for who to call.

I couldn't even see my phone clearly because of the tears pooling in my eyes.

The rain began falling, it came in huge droplets, everyone around me was with an umbrella except me.

Fuçking perfect.

it's like the rain was mocking me.

I called Karl and waited for him to pick up. “Hey,” I heard his voice, and I breathed in relief, the tears that had pooled up in my eyes finally falling free.

“Love,” He said again. Oh, how much I love hearing his voice, I never thought I would be this happy.

“Karl,” I whispered, my voice breaking.

“Are you okay, love?” he asked, his voice urgent, and I sobbed. “Did something happen? Where are you?” He asked.

“At the bus stop,” I finally found my voice.

“Send me your location, I will come find you,” Karl said, and I nodded even though I knew he couldn't see me.

The call ended, and I sent him my location, I looked around for Ethan, but I couldn't find him.

He’s gone? He should stay gone forever.

The bus came, and everyone got in, leaving me here.

I panicked immediately.

What if Ethan comes back?

My hands shook, and my heart began to race, I was still trying to calm my racing heart when a car stopped in front of me.

Karl came down from the car and ran towards me with an umbrella “Are you okay? Why are you here in the rain?” Karl asked, and tears pooled in my eyes again.

“I'm glad you came,” I told him, and he hugged me to himself.

I hate that he has to see me so broken again, but I can't help myself.

I feel so relieved.

I sat on Karl's couch after having a warm shower, and Karl brought me hot tea to drink.

“this would warm you up, so you won't catch a cold,” Karl said to me, and I nodded, taking it from him.

He sat next to me on the couch, and I could tell he was very worried about me.

I drank slowly from my cup, appreciating how warm the tea was.

"Thank you," I said to him without turning towards him.

“what happened? Why are you under the rain?” Karl asked me, and I turned to him.

“What did you do to Ethan?” I asked instead, and I blinked. “He came to see me” I added and frowned.

“What? I told him to stay far away from you!” He replied.

Of course, Karl had something to do with it.
