Silas's POV

“Julian…what are you talking about?”

Julian's hands were shaking as he reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out my Patek Philippe watch and my leather wallet.

“I'm sorry…I swear…I was going to pay you back. I just…I just wanted to save my mother's life and I didn't know what else to do”

“Julian…damn it, you think I'd throw you in jail over an ordinary watch?”

“But I…”

“If you want…I would buy you five watches”

He blinked rapidly as his mouth opened and closed. “Wait…you're not angry? I mean…I stole from you and…”

I exhaled and rolled my eyes. “You did it for a reason. I know how it feels to be desperate. When I was ten, my younger brother had an asthma attack….my parents were so poor that they couldn't even afford his inhaler. I broke into a pharmacy that night and stole an inhaler…I was caught and beaten…and by the time I had gotten home, my brother was dead”

“Silas…” Julian sounded so pained. “I'm so sorry”

I shrugged, trying to act casual even though I knew the wound never fully healed. “You did what you had to do to save your mother's life…and I can't blame you for it”

Julian's lower lip trembled, his finger twisting the hem of his shirt. “I swear Silas… I swear, I'll pay you back. I may not have anything right now…but I swear, I'll not die owing you”

“I thought you never wanted to see me again” I said changing the topic. “Maybe the sex was…wack”

“Wack?” He repeatedly shook his head. “Silas…the sex was everything but wack. You're insatiable. I've been with guys before…but none of them could match my energy the way you did”

“Actually,” he said, smirking. “I was planning on coming back for part two. This time I wanted it to be in your office…. against your desk”

My mind started making up the image of Julian spread across my mahogany desk…his back arched…fuck…my shorts suddenly felt uncomfortably tight.

Julian caught the look on my face and burst into laughter, clutching his stomach. “You should see your face…you still have a lot to learn old man”

“I'm not old…” I began acting defensive but he silenced me by grabbing the collar of my shirt and pressing his lips hard against mine.

The kiss was hot and sudden and I could barely keep up as he pushed his tongue inside my mouth…making my knees go weak.

“I missed you” he whispered against my lips…and the honesty in those words almost made me melt. “I know it's insane…we barely just met…but I feel better when you're with me”

I didn't plan to say it, but the words just slipped out. “I missed you too”

Julian's eyes darkened instantly. “Say that again and I'll fuck you right here…right now”

I laughed breathlessly, shaking my head. “You're insane”

But then his mood shifted and he looked away embarrassed.

“I'm sorry I kissed you like that. You're a public figure and you probably don't want people to see…”

I cut him off with another kiss…slower, this time, my hand cradling the back of his neck.

“I'm not ashamed of you Julian. You can kiss me however you want” I said firmly.

He smiled faintly and he said. “Let's get out of here…to your car?”

I nodded and together we walked as he stylishly tapped my ass…this guy is crazy..

“What are you doing here Silas?” He asked…his voice was small and vulnerable now.

“You know why I'm here…” I reached for his hand, caressing his skin gently.  “You don't have to pretend with me Julian. It's okay to cry. You've been holding it in for too long…let it out”

That was all it took before he burst into tears and I pulled him into my arms as he sobbed on my shoulder, his fists clutching at my shirt.

“She's…all I have” he whispered when he could finally speak.

“The doctors said she needs a heart transplant…and the surgery costs more than I'll ever make in a lifetime. My clients buy my paintings on credit and disappear when it's time to pay…nothing I do is ever enough but…I don't want my mom to die, I can't live with the pain”

I was already pulling out my phone, scrolling through my contacts until I found Dr Harrison Kleiner, the best cardiac surgeon in the country.

“Harrison? It's Silas Vaughn. I need a favour… I have a woman who needs a heart transplant and I need you to find a compatible donor within twenty four hours…yes, I know…money Is not my problem…just get it done”

Julian's eyes kept widening with every word as I spoke.

“I also need you to arrange for transport… from this hospital..St Mary's hospital to a private facility”

When I ended the call, Julian was still staring. “You didn't have to do that…you've already given me so much…”

“It's nothing” I said, and I meant it. “I have more money Julian. Let me spend it on something that matters”

“But Silas…”

“I lost my mother once,” I said quietly. “I won't sit back and watch you lose yours…please, let me help”

His lips trembled as he leaned in to kiss me but suddenly screamed clutching his chest in pain.

“What's wrong?” I grabbed his shoulder…the last time I was this scared was five years ago when I saw Emery's corpse.

“Julian? please…talk to me! You're scaring me! Please…don't do this to me…say something that is wrong!”

He only groaned, his face contorting in pain. “I…I…they…they wanted to steal from me and I fought them and…they…they! It hurts…”

I looked down and froze. “Shit…Julian…you're bleeding! Why didn't you say something! Julian!”

“Please take care of my mother. Tell her I love her…” he said weakly.

I ripped his jacket open and I couldn't believe what I saw…I screamed.

A massive bullet wound was on his arm, blood soaking his shirt.

“How did you…”

But Julian's eyes had rolled back…he'd stopped breathing.

Ken’s povI gave a quick nod. “Sure. I won’t. But here’s what I’m going to do. You are going to erase every evidence you have against me. And if you threaten me again, I won’t be the one doing the shooting. But I’ll hire people to shoot you.”“Is that so?” He got closer to the table, leaning forward and smiling at me. “Fine. I’ll erase it. But did you think that your plan of not shooting me would go a long way? Let’s be honest. By the time I walk out of the door, I could blow up your car when you’re going home.”I shuddered at hearing that from him.“And you don’t even know if maybe I have a backup drive at home that the moment I die, it will be sent to the press.”He could be bluffing. But I wasn’t going to fall for that.“I don’t believe you,” I said to him.He smiled. “Don’t believe me then. But in case you hear conversations on the web, know that you brought this on yourself.”Almost immediately, I started to lower my gun as he smiled.“That’s a good boy. But because you’ve held y

Ken’s povI watched the court case over and over on my phone while waving my glass of whiskey in my hand. I then paused it and stopped looking at the phone and looked at the liquid in the glass before hearing clamoring in the hallway. I could hear my assistant running after somebody and yelling that the person shouldn’t be here, and I knew it was my spy and assassin.Taking my gun, I latched it under the table and behaved like nothing was wrong. The door burst open with the man coming in as well as my assistant.“You can leave him, Sarah. Walk back out.”“But sir…”“Sarah, leave. Now.”She looked at both of us and nodded before going out, closing the door behind her as I looked at him.“What seems to be the problem pretty boy,” he chuckled, like I wasn’t vexed already.“You know what, Damon, I’ve had a very long day. A very, very terrible day, if I’m being honest. And it’s all because of you. You couldn’t make Emery’s death more of an accident. Instead, you had to make it so goddamn r

Ken’s povI got into my car and waved to my driver to take us out of this estate. He nodded and ignited the car as he started to drive away.“Where to, sir?” he asked, but my mind was on the court case. What the fuck had happened in there? How was that guy the one trying to destroy my life now?I looked at my phone… it was still buzzing. More than five hundred messages and two hundred missed calls. I didn’t even know what to say or what to do anymore. All I could think of was how to rip Julian’s throat out of his neck. How to detach his hands in the most painful way. How to make him regret every single word he had said in the courtroom. But there was nothing in my head that could amount to the amount of pain I wanted to inflict on him. He was just there. He didn’t understand what it felt like to actually be on top. I had done what I had done for me. That bastard had no right to show up and think he could blackmail me.I was going to teach him a lesson… but first, I had to teach someon

Silas’s povI didn’t even know how I had left the courtroom but I could remember getting into my car and closing the door. Why? I asked myself multiple times. What the hell is going on?“Mr. Silas,” someone called as I could only hear muffled sounds.“Mr. Silas.”I looked up to see my driver had opened the door for me.“We’re home.”I stared at him for a couple of minutes before nodding and getting out.“Should I get something for you?”“I… I just need some time alone.”I walked in. I had come home without Nathan or my lawyer. What the hell was happening? I should have known that he was going to pull out some stunt. It was a classic Julian move. He was always doing this.I got to the whiskey cabinet and poured myself a good glass of whiskey which I downed and slammed down with anger.I thought about what I had heard today and seen… Julian pointing at Ken, Ken laughing and acting surprised. Was his surprise even real? Was it truly real? Was Ken the one who had killed Emery? It wasn’t g

Julian’s pov“Are you out of your damn mind?!” my lawyer yelled as he shook his head. “I can’t believe I’m defending you. What the fuck did you think you were gonna accomplish here? I’m so stupid for taking on this case to defend you.”“You wanted me to lie?”“No, I wanted you to tell the truth! All these things you’re bringing up here, I told you no goddamn surprises!” he yelled, banging his hand on the table before me.“As I said, I’m sorry. All right? I didn’t know if I could trust you.”“Oh, right now, do you think you can trust me? Because right now, I’m thinking of dropping this goddamn case. I can’t handle this case anymore. You are going against someone who is far more powerful than Silas. He’s a presidential aspirant. He doesn’t go out there putting out his private life. He stays on his own. Ken is one of the most powerful politicians out there. He goes about his business, handles his company, and doesn’t look for anyone’s trouble. And yet, somehow, he’s the same person that

  • His Second Husband    Chapter 62

Julian’s povI thought back on that night that it had happened and thought back on the day I had read the news and gulped. My eyes fell on where Silas was sitting. His eyes were almost bulging out of his head. The courtroom was broken into two, some arguing, some muttering, and some outrightly judging me while some congratulating me. And it didn’t take long before the judge slammed his gavel down.“Order! Order!” he yelled, as the noise took some time before it died down. The judge then turned to me. “What is this, Mr. Julian, trying to cause mayhem in my courtroom?”I shook my head. “No, Your Honor, I’m just trying to tell the truth of what happened.”“And can anybody corroborate your story?” he went further to ask.I shook my head. “Unfortunately, no. But I’m just giving the way everything happened. You can ask me what happened on this day and what happened on that day and I’ll tell you where I’ve been. But never in my life have I committed any murder or done anything destructive. A
