Silas’s pov

On our way back from the trip we had gone to, I leaned back in my luxurious plush chair as I looked to my left to see Julian was asleep.

I couldn’t believe that I would be building a family with him. It felt like such a dream. Like, a few weeks ago, I was looking for companionship. I was all alone. And now I’m here with him. Yes, we had met in the most unorthodox of ways, but it felt good to actually have somebody in your corner. To have someone you can actually talk to. To have someone you can feel things with.

And Julian was that person. He gave me so much happiness and love to know that I had him to thank for this.

All that period I had been on my own, only thinking of Emery. All that time wasted, blaming myself for something that happened in the past, when I could be living my life.

In just a week of vacation… okay, maybe it wasn’t up to a week… but in these few days that we had spent in another country, it opened my eyes to a lot of things. I got to see different cult

  • His Second Husband    Chapter 129

Silas’s povI moved around with the crying baby, from the living room to the dining. I tried my best to shush it from making that much ruckus but who was I kidding? I knew nothing about babies. What was I thinking when I decided to go have one. And one that wasn’t even up to a year old.It wasn’t like this baby came with a manual. My butlers and maids were on their day off today. When I actually needed them, they were nowhere to be found.A knock came on my door as I dropped the baby on the table as it wailed even louder, while I rushed to open the door for Nathan to come in.“Great, you’re here,” I said, walking to the dining table to lift up the baby as I handed it over to him.He looked at it and me like I was holding hot coal and stepped back. “What the hell… is that?” He asked, his eyes darting from me to the bag every two seconds.“It’s a baby,” I said, giving him my best smile, but that did nothing.“I’m not holding that thing. What, did you pick it up from the streets or what

Jules’ pov“Wait, where are you going?” I asked as he looked at me.“Away from you.”“What do you mean?” I slowly got to my feet as he shrugged. “My presence seems like it’s no longer welcome. I think walking away from you should be the next thing I should do to avoid any problem because you’re really pissing me off right now.”I got to my feet and paid for the meals as I ran after him.We got to the parking lot as I held his arm and stopped him from going any further.“Hold up,” I sighed. “How about you and I handle this well. You shouldn’t be mad because I’m not handling what we have like it’s the best relationship we have. I’ve gone through a lot.”“And I totally get your pain, but we can’t keep doing this all the time with you telling me about your past. I heard you the last time. You’re hurt. I get it. But don’t do this to me anymore. I can’t stand it.”“How about we talk about this for a minute like a couple? I feel like my feelings and your feelings are lost in some kind of tr

  • His Second Husband    Chapter 127

Jules’ povAs much as I enjoyed the kiss that I was having from him, my mind kept on roaming around what my mother had said. She was not wrong. She was trying to make sure I didn’t get into trouble with the way things were going with all my past relationships.Maybe I would try to figure stuff out by that period, but either way, I would see where this would lead us to.The kiss suddenly made me wince as I slowly pulled away from him as I could tell that I wasn’t feeling the kiss as well as I thought I would be feeling it. I found his face squeezed as he was not happy at how I had pulled away from him.“What is it?” he asked. “Something wrong?”All I could do was shake my head. “No, everything is fine.” That’s all I could say.But then he shook his head. “No, something is wrong. Just tell me. Let me know how I’m going to fix it for you.”But I smiled. “It’s all fine. Don’t bother about me or worry about anything. I’m just tired.”“Let’s go have a bath and then we can sleep together, w

  • His Second Husband    Chapter 126

Jules’ povWith the way I had spoken to her, she was visibly hurt. She opened her mouth to talk back but then closed it. She wasn’t in the mood to argue with me.I felt hurt that I was fighting my mother over someone who didn’t care for me. Carlos was still a stranger.Today wasn’t supposed to go like this. I was supposed to have a wonderful day today. Not fight with my mother.I sighed and looked at my watch. “We can have this conversation later. I have to get going.”But she shook her head. “You should go. I’ll make my appointment to go to the hospital.”I frowned. “You pushed it to Saturday. We were supposed to go together.”She nodded. “And now, I want to go alone.”“Mom,” I started to say. But then she shook her head and held her hands up.“No, it’s fine. I can take care of myself and things over here. You should go on your date. I’m sure he’s waiting for you.”“You don’t have to do this to me you know. I’m sorry if I hurt you. I didn’t mean it.”She sighed. “You have to know th

  • His Second Husband    Chapter 125

Carlos’s povI watched the show before mindlessly while wondering what was taking him so long to join me.The least he could do was join me after a couple of seconds.Tapping my feet endlessly on the ground wasn’t going to help. Besides, I was tired of the thumps I was hearing like I was thumper the rabbit.I heard someone coming down from the grand stairs as I pulled my eyes away from the nat geo wild on the television and turned to see his mother coming down the stairs. In her floral white dress, she looked beautiful. She had always been a darling with the way she was dressed. I couldn’t blame her anyway. She was seeing money now and she needed to eat it.Her face frowned when she saw me and I knew a sermon was underway. It was almost like she didn’t like me. Who could blame her? With what I had done to her son in the past, it was a miracle she had not tossed me out like a homeless person by now.“Good morning,” her face lit up almost comically as I smiled while watching her sit on

  • His Second Husband    Chapter 124

Julian’s pov The next day, I laid in bed, wondering what to do next. I was still thinking about the next day and how it had gone. This was beautiful. The fact that I had gone through that date yesterday and not thought of blowing my brains out was a lot to handle. I expected it to be bad, but it turned out great. My door opened with my mother coming in as I frowned at her.“What do you want mum?” I sighed in frustration. “I just woke up and if you're here to start bothering me about so many things, please don't start. I just want to lay here in peace and not think of the past, present, or the future. She gave me a naughty smile, piquing my curiosity on what she wanted to say.“What is it?”“There is a man waiting outside for you. I told him to wait in the back while I call you.”I rushed to my feet and headed for the window to see no one waiting as I heard a small laughter in the back.I turned to see my mum walking to a couch by the window to sit as she studied me like some lab exp
