Chapter 1

Mumbai, India

In a big mansion, a girl with long curls was sitting on a couch while gawking at the big flat television screen. The news reporter was stating the current news.

“Advocate Rajveer Malhotra finally wins the third complicated case in a row against the big shot Abir Kukreja. The court has already found Mr. Kukreja guilty because of his illegal promotion along with his manipulation of more than 20 families to get their land. Mr. Kukreja is already given 5 years of imprisonment along with a penalty of a lump sum. Failing this, his imprisonment will be extended for more than 10 years. All of his offices were seized already. We are currently standing in front of the Mumbai High Court. This is Shreya Agarwal, IN news, live from Mumbai High Court.”

As soon as she changed the channel another reporter stated almost the same fact with little or more information. Most of the channels were showing the same news. One channel finally got a hold of Advocate Rajveer Malhotra. The female reporter moved towards Rajveer to get some bytes.

“Hello Mr. Malhotra, what would you like to say after winning this case?”

“I am happy that I didn’t disappoint those who trusted me.” His voice was calm and professional as usual.

“You are specifically a criminal lawyer. It’s hard to manage your fees. Then how come those people managed to afford you?” That was a question with some unwanted taunting. He usually charges high fees but nobody can win against him either. He didn’t seem bothered with the question, rather he offered a gentle smile to reply.

“Yes, my fee is high but when someone is in need I don’t stop myself from helping them. No matter how small the crime is, the crime is always a punishable offense.”

“It was said that you were threatened by top-notch promoters. They tried to lure you too.” It was clear that the report was way too informative about Rajveer's whereabouts.

“I don’t know from where you have got such information, but my black coat is not for sale. For the rest of the answer please contact my P.A.” He raised his hand finally to move away from the cluster of reporters and photographers.

“Last question, we have heard that you are getting engaged with Mr. Rane's daughter. Is it true?” The female reporter seemed more interested in Rajveer’s personal life at that moment.

“If you guys are already aware of such facts then I believe you know the answers too.” The ultimate smile was everything that Rajveer gave before getting into his car.

“Any special message for her? After winning this case? People say Advocate Rajveer never loses any case.” The reporter was still nagging when he peeped through his car window and answered.

“Wrong, Advocate Rajveer Malhotra never let his opponent win. And for her only one message is there. “I am coming home.”

Rajveer looked directly into the camera. It was a live telecast from the court area. The girl seated on the couch felt her cheeks get reddened. She changed the channel immediately. From the moment the question came on national television she started feeling butterflies inside her stomach.

There were lots of movements and sounds downstairs. She stood up to enter the washroom to freshen up. As soon as she came out a sudden knock on the door took her attention. Before she could guess the person, a girl of almost her age jumped inside the room.

“Di……………. Honey…. I missed you so much……” She almost ended up being in a bone-crushing hug by her younger sister, Rohini.

“Mini….. let me breathe. Come on…” She exhaled when she finally released her.

“Come on Honey. Let me irritate you a bit. I haven’t seen you for a long time.” Her cute childish expression was everything to express her feelings to her older sister.

“Who told you to opt for a US university? Was there scarcity in our country that you went out waving your small tail?” She immediately showed an angry face to the little devil of her life.

“Di… I allowed you to have our fair share of our parents' love. See I am so generous.”

“Enough of this drama. You have to stay a bit longer this time.” She dismissed her immediately. Of course, she missed her sister like hell.

“Of course. It's winter break and my dear love, I am too bored being there. Especially heartbroken.” She showed fake tears in her eyes.

“And this is your 10th heartbreak, right?” She couldn’t stop herself from pulling her sister's ears.

“Nope. Unlucky 13th.”

“Mini, you have grown up enough now. Kindly get someone special now and stop playing around. How long will this go?” She tried to sound serious but deep down she knew by heart her sister was pure gold.

“Someone special like Rajveer Jiju? Aww, so cute di. Ask him if he has another brother for me or not.”

“, he doesn’t have. He is a single child. Now I would seriously tell Papa to find a boy for you. Enough of your childish drama.” The ultimate threat that she had for her sister.

“Oh dear, I am too young to get married. Let me enjoy this life first.” She waved her hand up and tried to fly.

“In the process of your enjoyment you would be still rejecting boys and they would come to me asking for help.”

“Oh shit. Did Arnav call you again? I told him it’s over. And by the way, he had cheated on me.” Immediately her sister remembered her past encounter with her ex-boyfriend. She had clearly remembered not giving her sister's contact number to him.

“No, it was not Arnav. His name is Arav. You don’t even remember his name? Girl, you kissed him in front of me.” She banged her head with her palm.

“Arnav, Arav whatever. That was a mere kiss. But how did he get your no? Wait, I will talk to him.” She ignored the entire situation but her anger-filled gestures were enough to make her understand what type of hell would break on Arav soon. She shouldn't have told her sister about that.

“It's a fine Mini. He got it from one of your friends who had my contact number. And you had blocked him over every communication channel. And coming back to your kiss part. Yeah, mere kiss. Girl, if I would have kissed someone, I wouldn’t be able to forget his name.” She tried to make her younger sister understand the depth of a kiss.

“That's fine, this is something I would handle personally. Coming back to the kiss, I know that’s why you couldn’t forget Rajveer's name. So sad but lucky Rajveer. He got a nice girl. The best girl in the world.” Rohini had a wild guess that her sister had already kissed Rajveer and she also knew how hard it was for her sister as she was way too shy.

Hearing the word kiss and all from her sister she felt embarrassed. Her cheeks got heated up and she lowered down her gaze and walked away from Rohini.

Seeing her elder sister avoiding her words Rohini grabbed her hand and pulled her.

“Gosh. You are blushing. When did you kiss him? Tell me.” Now her sister got a point she won’t be leaving without digging everything up.

“Nothing Mini. It’s like….” She averted her gaze again.

“Yes, tell me………” Rohini widened her eyes

“Just happened when I was there in his house while preparing for the AIBE (All India Bar Examination).”

“Oh… so my sister didn’t top the AIBE just like this. Someone worked hard behind this. So apart from the kiss, anything else?” Rohini was too eager to hear more.

“Shut up Mini. Nothing like that. It was just a kiss.”

“Just a kiss?” Rohini pointed out the word kiss again.

In the meantime, their mother entered the room to speak. Seeing her mother Rohini pouted as she got a hold of her elder sister. And her sister breathed a sigh of relief. At least she didn’t need to explain her kiss story to her younger sister.

“You two, enough of your sisterly chat. Now get ready for the evening party. Rohini for god sake doesn’t wear casual clothes today. Wear something elegant.”

“Why mom? The party is organized to celebrate my sweetheart's victory. People are coming to see her, not me.”

“Oh god, this girl would never agree with any of us. Suhani, you take care of her, please. She only listens to you.” Her mom seemed to know her younger daughter better than anything.

Suhani… Yes. That’s her name. Rohini's elder sister.

“Of course Maa, I would,” Suhani replied. As soon as her mother left Rohini grabbed her sister's hand to ask a certain question. It's been a long they hadn't talked over the matter of Rajveer and Suhani's marriage. Even though it was fixed since the beginning and also they came closer, still, Rohini thought a decision of marriage should be taken considering various facts.

"Are you sure of getting married so early, Di?"
