North’s POV

“Then we should put on a show, what do you think?" Finn asked, sliding his hand over my waist as he pulled me to himself.

Before I could realize what was going on, his soft lips were against mine, his tongue tangled with mine.

When he finally pulled away, I was out of breath but he looked normal. The fact that he still had an effect on me even after all I had done to keep him at arms length was killing.

“Shall we?" He asked, nodding at our reserved table at the front of the hall.

“Sure." I nodded, allowing him to lead me to our table.

It was my first time attending one of these high society events as a guest and not a caterer or staff member.

And honestly? It felt like I had just stepped into another world.

The ballroom was the epitome of grandeur, ornate chandeliers dripped from the ceiling, marble floors that gleamed under the dim lighting, and guests adorned in designer labels with perfect posture and curated smiles.

There was a rhythm to it all.

North’s POVLast night, I went to bed in fury because of Liam. I didn't even pick his call as it was the wrong timing. Just when I had set things straight with Finn, his call came in disrupting everything. This morning, Finn was gone even before I woke up. I didn't bother making breakfast as I couldn't eat alone so I got ready and went to work. At the moment, I was sitting behind my desktop, scrolling through my emails which were filled with declined offers.I was almost giving up when an email from Caleb’s company popped up on my screen. With my heart in my mouth, I clicked on it, staring at the screen of my laptop as the bold header stared back at me like a dream I hadn’t dared to have. Even now, rereading it for the fifth time, it didn’t feel real.He wanted me, not as a chef but an event planner for his engagement party. It felt so surreal that I felt myself floating in the air. My lips parted in disbelief for the hundredth time as I scanned the lines again for confirmation.

North's POV The event stretched for two more hours and by the time they were done, I was drained of all my energy. My whole body ached like I had worked overtime but still, I enjoyed every bit of it.“I will give you a call." Isla said, blowing me a kiss as Caleb opened the door of his vehicle.“Should I do that for you too?" Finn asked, his face a few inches from mine as his cologne messed with my head. I wanted to grab him by the cuff of his shirt and gobble him up that instant. “Let's go." His voice snapped me back to the present as he intertwined his hands with mine.To live up to Isla’s theory of having the perfect marriage, I was clinging to Finn and he reciprocated all of my acts. The moment he shut the door of his car behind me, I slid through the chair, letting out a relieved sigh as my head was pounding and my cheeks hurting from smiling too much. “Your seatbelt." Finn said as the engine purred into life. Snapping my head to face him, I saw that his jaw was clenched an

North’s POVFinding Finn in the hall was a hassle. At some point, I was already thinking he had left and that got me frightened.Calling him was out of the checklist. He was definitely going to ignore me and my text was going to be left unread too.“You must be Mrs. Timber." A waitress said, handing a glass of champagne to me.“Yeah." I nodded, unsure of what she was going to say next. Nodding towards the convenience, she said, “Your husband is in the men's bathroom, he said I should tell you that if you are looking for him." Relieved, I gave her a grateful smile. Placing the glass on her tray, I said, “I already had a glass." Holding my gown up, I quickly made my way towards the convenience, making sure that my eyes were downwards. Finn's cologne greeted me when I stepped in but instead of finding him in the common area, it was David Langston. Stepping outside for a moment, I took in a deep breath and by the time I returned, Finn was standing across from him. Ignoring the knots

Finn’s POVSitting behind the mahogany table, I had my gaze fixated on my laptop before me. If someone walked in now, he would think I was busy but it was the opposite entirely. Since when I came in, I had been staring at the screen but I wasn’t really reading the words. The cursor blinked mockingly in the final paragraph of the report I had been drafting for the past hour. My concentration was weak, and the only thing I had really managed to do was to make sure my jaw stayed clenched and my mind far from North who was probably brooding or sulking. Biting my lower lips, I titled my head backwards, a low groan escaping from my lips. Just when I was going to hit my job with full concentration, Raiden strolled in without knocking. He always treated my office like his second home and I didn't mind Leaning against the door frame with his legs crossed, I could feel his gaze on me but I acted like I was oblivious of it.“Are you still here?” he asked, leaning against the edge of my d

North’s POVI woke up with my head pounding like a marching band was performing inside my skull.Grabbing my head with both hands, the room spun slightly as I pulled myself up. The wall of my throat was rocky like I had swallowed a handful of gravel. Still holding my head, a low groan escaped my lips before I could stop it. “I shouldn't have drank last night." I muttered, pressing a hand to my temple, as if it was going to dull the ache. The sudden silence was disrupted with the distant clatter of pots and pans that filtered into my ears, followed closely by the unmistakable scent of something burning.Eggs? No, toast. It definitely was a burnt toast.Coughing, I stumbled out of the couch, shoving the duvet aside as I made my way towards the kitchen, one hand holding the wall for balance. As I stepped into the kitchen, the sight that greeted me would have been hilarious if my head wasn't aching. With his back on me, Finn was standing in front of the cooker, his brows knitted in f
