North’s POV

With Lex gone, I pushed my hand into my hair, a satisfied smile spreading on my lips. I was glad that I had put her in place when she tried to push me to the side.

“She has guts." I muttered, turning around to leave but Finn grabbed my arm.

"You're leaving just like that.” He mumbled.

"I didn't come out here to meet you.” I said, yanking my hand off his grip.

Holding my robes together, I mouthed, "See you inside.” I was going to leave again but he stopped me.

“Did you really kiss me?” He asked, his tone low and unreadable, like he wasn’t sure if he should challenge me or pull me into his arms again.

I didn’t answer him directly, instead, I raised my chin, studying his face like it was the first time we were meeting.

“I just saved your life,” I huffed before turning away and stepping into the compound like the brief kiss hadn’t nearly short circuited my entire body.

Still gripping my robes, I started walking quickly, not out of confidence, but because I could feel my

North’s POVIt was the weekend so I decided to take a day off to recharge and get ready for the following week which had been packed full with different activities for me. Before I woke up that morning, Finn was gone. I hadn't seen him last night and this morning too, he left without even saying a little hi to me. To relax, I made my way to the balcony, wearing a satin robe with nothing but a bikini inside like I was at the beach. With crossed legs, I was flipping through the pages of the romance novel I was reading but I wasn't going past the first few paragraphs which I had re-read more than three times. The words blurred before my eyes for the third time in less than ten minutes. I wasn’t even following the story anymore. My eyes might have been trained on the book, but my mind was elsewhere. It had been a few days already but my mind was still consumed by the memory of the event I had attended with Finn.Correction: the event I walked into alone, after Raiden asked me to. Let

Finn’s POVThe lights in the bar were dim as the low music from the DJ’s speaker was humming in the background..It was not too loud to disturb the atmosphere but just enough to drown the thoughts that were clawing at my head.About fifteen minutes ago when I arrived, I went to the far end of the mahogany counter, making myself comfortable in our usual booth. While waiting for Raiden, I began to swirl a glass of scotch between my fingers like it held all the answers I couldn’t say aloud.Friday nights were routine for me and Raiden’s. It had been a habit from senior high school and even after fifteen years later, we still maintained the routine. It is a time where we talk about everything that went on during the week, setting us up for the new week.Leaning forward, I pushed my hand into my hair as I let out a low wince.“North." I mumbled, biting the side of my lips. Out of everything that had happened that week, it was hers that occupied all the space in my head. Swirling the sco

North’s POVLast night, I went to bed in fury because of Liam. I didn't even pick his call as it was the wrong timing. Just when I had set things straight with Finn, his call came in disrupting everything. This morning, Finn was gone even before I woke up. I didn't bother making breakfast as I couldn't eat alone so I got ready and went to work. At the moment, I was sitting behind my desktop, scrolling through my emails which were filled with declined offers.I was almost giving up when an email from Caleb’s company popped up on my screen. With my heart in my mouth, I clicked on it, staring at the screen of my laptop as the bold header stared back at me like a dream I hadn’t dared to have. Even now, rereading it for the fifth time, it didn’t feel real.He wanted me, not as a chef but an event planner for his engagement party. It felt so surreal that I felt myself floating in the air. My lips parted in disbelief for the hundredth time as I scanned the lines again for confirmation.

North's POV The event stretched for two more hours and by the time they were done, I was drained of all my energy. My whole body ached like I had worked overtime but still, I enjoyed every bit of it.“I will give you a call." Isla said, blowing me a kiss as Caleb opened the door of his vehicle.“Should I do that for you too?" Finn asked, his face a few inches from mine as his cologne messed with my head. I wanted to grab him by the cuff of his shirt and gobble him up that instant. “Let's go." His voice snapped me back to the present as he intertwined his hands with mine.To live up to Isla’s theory of having the perfect marriage, I was clinging to Finn and he reciprocated all of my acts. The moment he shut the door of his car behind me, I slid through the chair, letting out a relieved sigh as my head was pounding and my cheeks hurting from smiling too much. “Your seatbelt." Finn said as the engine purred into life. Snapping my head to face him, I saw that his jaw was clenched an

North’s POV“Then we should put on a show, what do you think?" Finn asked, sliding his hand over my waist as he pulled me to himself. Before I could realize what was going on, his soft lips were against mine, his tongue tangled with mine. When he finally pulled away, I was out of breath but he looked normal. The fact that he still had an effect on me even after all I had done to keep him at arms length was killing. “Shall we?" He asked, nodding at our reserved table at the front of the hall.“Sure." I nodded, allowing him to lead me to our table. It was my first time attending one of these high society events as a guest and not a caterer or staff member. And honestly? It felt like I had just stepped into another world. The ballroom was the epitome of grandeur, ornate chandeliers dripped from the ceiling, marble floors that gleamed under the dim lighting, and guests adorned in designer labels with perfect posture and curated smiles. There was a rhythm to it all. Waiters floated
