~Drey’s POV~
~The previous day~ “What do you mean Lillian?” I asked James, who became more inquisitive than I expected. “I only asked for a fucking lawyer James!! Why do you like butting into my personal life!?.” My temper rose to hear him mentioning that bitch’s name. I only see Lillian as a toy who I can call whenever I need some alone time. But for a wife? Hell fucking no!! “I’m sorry Boss… It’s just that I.. I don’t know who else you might have in mind to fit the role of a wife. I just thought……” James tried to explain himself. “Stop thinking and do what I asked you.” I roughly interrupted him. James stood up to leave my office, his face was laced with disappointment. I have never yelled at him like that in a very long time. So yeah I think I outdid it this time. “Erm… hold on. I’m .. I’m….. “ I let out a huge breath. “You know I don’t like hearing that bitches name. She’s not the one I have in mind okay? Never would she be!” I reluctantly said, rubbing my hands through my hair. “I won’t do that again. I’m sorry for being too forward.” He smiled partially and walked out the door. I clenched my fist very hard, ready to hit the table with anger but my phone buzzed in my pants. “Goddammit!! Who the hell is this?” I yelled as I put my hands in my pocket to take my phone out. I was already frustrated enough today. I checked the screen and there it was. Speak of the devil. “Lillian” I aggressively groaned. I angrily pressed decline. She was the last person’s voice I wanted to hear right now. Why was she calling me? She doesn’t have that right. I heard a little argument coming from the door and just then, it was wide open. “You can’t go in ma’am, Mr. Drey is having a meeting.” My receptionist argued with a lady at the door who was forcefully entering. Before I could react or say something, the lady came in dressed in a very sexy velvet dress, and her hair in a messy bun. “Why are you not picking up my calls, Drey?” she yelled at me. “Oh my God! Just when I thought today wouldn’t get any crazier.” I was getting provoked already. “Melissa you’re so fucking fired!” I shouted at my receptionist. She left, shutting the door behind her. “What are you doing here Lillian,” I asked, looking at her with so much anger. “What do you mean? Drey I missed you. You know how much I love and care about you. And you ghosting me hurt me so much I had to reach out but you were ignoring all my calls and texts.” She whined as she approached me touching my face like I was some little child. “I even… reached out to your secretary but he said you didn’t want to talk to me. Why? Did I do something wrong?“ She asked but now her hands gracefully caressed my chest. Even though I wanted nothing to do with her after the last. She just had a way of calming me which was what I liked about her. “I’m sorry about the last time.” She apologized giving me a puppy look. “You don’t have to do that okay? It’s disgusting.” She ignored me and leaned in for a kiss. I turned my face away, turning down her kiss and pushing her slightly off me. “You tried to take my watch off me which I clearly instructed you not to.” I scolded her “I’m sorry I didn’t know it was from your….. mom.” she nervously apologized. “Don’t…Touch…My…Watch…Ever…Again!! Do you understand me? I asked, giving her a stern look in the eye. “ Noted” she happily said, jumping in for a hug. I hugged her not because I forgave her but.., why not?? ******* A few minutes later, there was a knock on the door. “Who is that again?” I let out a sigh. “Sir Mr Williams is here,” James said as he walked through the door with Mr Williams by his side. “Oh!….. you have to go now. I have important things to handle.” I said to Lillian who had a frown on her face. She had no option but to leave. She picked up her black Birkin bag from the couch where she dropped it and wore her red bottom heels leaving my office with pride. James couldn’t help but stare at her like he was disgusted by her presence. “Are we having this discussion or not?” I asked because all their eyes were on Lillian as she walked past them. “Eh…Ehem, Sorry about that sir.” James apologized as he adjusted his tie. “Mr Drey, James already filmed me in on what you suggested and I came as fast as I could to finalize it.” My lawyer Mr Williams stated. “Have your seat, let's talk. “ I instructed. “So, James told me you had some…..” Mr Williams started. “ Listen to me before you talk okay? “ I completely cut him off and he nodded in response. ” I want to get into a contract marriage and it has to be in my favor.” Both Mr Williams and James nodded in unison. “ I… have someone in mind already, someone I know I can easily control and manipulate without having issues.” I continued. “ Sorry to cut you off Mr Drey but are you talking about the lady that just walked out of her? Because I don’t think…” Mr Williams expressed. “ I didn’t ask for your opinion Williams just fucking listen to me.” I rudely shut him up “She’s a bartender at one of my hotels. And from the look of things she’s desperate for money. It’s super easy to manipulate her. And no, you can’t object!” I firmly ordered. From their faces, I could see they didn’t agree with my choice of person. But I thought of it and she was right. I am also desperate to put all these allegations behind me. This was the easiest and fastest way of dealing with it. “Now I need you to get the paperwork work done quickly and sent to me first thing in the morning. I'll send the required conditions to add to it“ I concluded. James hesitated. “Are you sure about this, Boss? She’s… I mean you know nothing about her. For all I care she could be unpredictable.” I met his gaze, unwavering. “That’s exactly why I want her. She’s perfect.” I could see the disappointment in their faces but then I dismissed them. Just as they were about to leave, my phone buzzed. A text from a private number. I clenched my jaw and opened the message. The text is written in capital letters. “MARRYING HER WON’T SAVE YOU, DREY. IF ANYTHING….. IT’S GOING TO COMPLETELY DESTROY YOU.” I stared at the phone, my heart pounding. I don’t usually get scared of threats but this?….. Who the hell knows about this already?ARIA’s POV~Two weeks later~It’s been two weeks since I met Drey at the party. We have been talking and it was obvious he had fallen for me. I just needed to seal it off and do something fast after my encounter with my former secretary that night. I couldn’t risk getting cut. “Hello, ma’am, Welcome and how may I help you?” A receptionist asked me as I walked and stood in front of her. I took off my glasses with my left hand and put them in my bag. I lifted my head to look around the reception before turning my attention towards her. “I’m here to see Mr Drey Jackson,” I responded with a smile. “Okay ma’am, do you have an appointment with him?” She asked politely, returning the smile. I let out a slight chuckle. “I don’t need one. You could just call him to tell him I’m here.” “Sorry ma’am but he’s busy right now.” She muttered.I gave her a cold look and without saying another word she quickly picked up the telephone to call him. “Hel…hello sir. There is someone here to see y
~Aria’s Pov~I felt fulfilled. My years of hard work might finally pay off. I'd won himOver—I never thought it would be this easy. I slipped into my coat before leaving the gathering and stepped into the night. My insides jumped in triumph. My plans were working just as I intended them to. The city greeted me with open arms, and streetlights glared down. Hums from cabs and buses filled the air.I missed it here—the nightlife, the junk food stands at every corner. The atmosphere was always welcoming, and it helped calm my nerves. Being back here… it grounded me. And tonight, more than ever, I needed that. I spotted my favorite junk stand ahead. In a few moments, I got there. The aroma of seasoning and melted cheeses called out to me. I managed to avoid meeting with the owner because he would recognize me. So I went to sit on the bench. In no time, a young attendant came to take my order. She was polite and in less than 10 minutes, I walked away with a pack of loaded nachos. “Hel
DREYShe hadn’t called. The champagne in my hand had gone warm, much like the conversations swirling around me—loud, but meaningless. It had been a week since the gala—one week and I couldn't stop longing for her to reach out. She was a special kind of beautiful—someone who spoke with dignity and honesty. I wanted her.Aria Gerit.I had tried to make myself feel it didn't matter, that she was just another woman with polished confidence and something to prove. But everything about her was attractive. Her tone, her smile, her scent. The thought of her in my bed made things even more tense for me. But none of it would mean anything if she doesn't reach out. I would never chase after a woman. But a part of me—one I didn’t often listen to—had hoped she would. Some part of me had wished I’d collected her number also. This felt like a challenge to me. Clink. Clink. Clink. The soft ringing of glasses snapped me out of it.Heads turned as the room fell into a respectful stillness. An olde
~Andrea Pov~It’s been months since the catastrophic launch that ruined everything for me. It was supposed to be my breakthrough moment—the day my tireless work would pay off—but it turned out to be my worst nightmare, I couldn't wake up from.Grant Pharmaceuticals betrayed me. They stole everything—my data—manipulated it, and went as far as selling it to another company. That's the height of it.Since then, I’ve been dragged through courtrooms week after week, answering questions designed to trap me, watching lawyers twist my words into knots. Every session felt like a slow burn of my pride, my reputation, and what little hope I had left. And when the verdict came in, it was like the final nail in my heart: I lost. Completely. Why?Because all the evidence I needed to defend myself—the code, the data, the files—they had it. Every single piece. In the end, I was slapped with a crushing fine, and every last cent I had went into paying it off. I walked out of that courtroom broke, h
ANDREAAndrea hadn't worn heels in a long time. The last time was for her father’s funeral. But today—today was a special day. It was the day her company’s products got to be in the market for the first time. Andrea had worked on this product for years now. It was a newly developed heart valve. She couldn’t help but remember the nights she found it difficult to sleep. The multiple grant rejections, the way different companies laughed at her pitch every time she presented the idea? She was just a young woman drowning in student debt. Andrea decided to do something for a change on her own, but funding was her obstacle. But today felt like a kick back. A huge one. She had almost lost hope until she partnered with a big pharmaceutical company that helped fund the project.“This is your day, Andrea,” she said with enthusiasm written all over her face. After her father died from heart valve failure, she was left with a new dream: developing a safer, better heart valve. She wasn’t just
~Andrew’s Pov~I sat in my chair, staring at a picture of my brother, on my phone. The energy in my office seemed to reflect the state of my mind. I twirled in my chair and let out a sigh of frustration. The image of him made me sick to my bones. I hated him. With everything in me. I hated his presence, his smile, his fucking—face!I clenched my jaw very hard that it hurt. Glancing at him made me want to hit him. The thought of him made me throw my phone in anger against the wall. The phone hit the wall with a crack, but it didn't give me the satisfaction I needed. I continued throwing the stash of pens on my desk. But that feeling—it wasn't enough.I wanted everything he had. And now—he’s fucking married? To such a beautiful girl whom I know nothing of. He doesn’t deserve to be a happy man, one bit. Then, I heard the sound of my office door squeaking as it forcefully rattled the frames on my walls. I wasn’t expecting anyone, not even at this time. And no one dared barge into m
