Calla sat quietly in the back seat as Fabio drove through the calm morning streets. Sunlight spilled over the buildings and cars passed by in a slow, steady flow, but she barely noticed any of it. Her mind was far away, stuck on one person and one person only.

Rico.

The way he had looked at her. The way he had touched her hair so carefully, like she was something fragile. The way his voice softened when he asked if she was hurting. None of it made sense to her. Rico wasn’t meant to be gentle. He wasn’t meant to care.

And yet… he did.

She shifted in her seat, hugging her arms around herself as the memory of his hand on her wrist replayed in her head. The concern in his eyes had felt too real. It left her confused and uneasy in a way she couldn’t explain.

Could he be developing feelings for her? That was impossible. She shook that thought away, almost laughing at how dumb her thoughts were.

Fabio slowed as they pulled into her street. The familiar sight of her building came into view, a

  • His To Possess    Chapter 110: Chaotic Breakfast

Calla's stares on Rico was cut short when Nonna Luisa walked in. She held a small tray, with a mug on it. Carefully, she placed it on the table, right in front of Rico. He didn't look at the woman once or utter a thanks. Calla had to stop herself from rolling her eyes at his attitude. The least he could do was appreciate her for her efforts. But then again, he pays her, so she shouldn't expect any word of appreciation from him."Breakfast, in-a minute, eh?" Nonna Luisa said with a motherly smile on her face. She had a white apron tied around her waist, and a small towel hanging from the pocket. Her gray hairs were neatly covered with a hairnet.Rico nodded once without glancing at her. Nonna Luisa's gaze searched Calla and found her. She winked playfully at Calla then left. Calla stifled a laugh, her head bowed slightly. "Something funny?" Valentina asked with a scowl.Calla's head pushed up to look at Valentina, visibly confused "What?" "I heard you laugh," Valentina said, tilti

"And who made that decision?”Calla didn’t turn right away. She felt his presence before she saw him. Her brows furrowed, wondering why he was out of bed. She saw the doctor leave, so she knew the bullet had been taken out. He should be resting and recovering by now.The air changed, tightening around her chest. Slowly, she faced him, and her heart skipped. He was still pale, beads of sweat resting on his forehead. But his lips weren't too cracked as before."Why are you out of bed?" Calla asked."Since when did you give a fuck?" He threw back, a dark grin tugging his lips. Calla swallowed, her gaze fluttered before turning back to him."Rico I—""Who said you could stay. I asked you to leave."She lifted her chin even though her heart was pounding hard enough to hurt.“I did,” she said. “I’m not done here.”Valentina let out a sharp laugh, half disbelief, half anger. “You’ve got some nerve,” she snapped, looking between them. “After everything you’ve done—”“That’s enough,” Rico sa

Calla didn’t remember how she made it out of Rico’s room. Her legs moved on their own while her mind stayed behind, trapped in his words, in his cold eyes, in the way he looked at her like she was nothing. Her lips trembled the moment the door closed behind her, and the tears she had been holding back finally spilled. She pressed a hand to her mouth, swallowing the sound, her chest aching as she cried silently.Every word he had thrown at her replayed in her head. They were sharp and cruel, cutting deeper each time. 'Whore.''Liar.''Nothing.'It hurt so badly she felt it in her bones, but she wiped her cheeks roughly and forced herself to breathe. He had pushed her away again, ordered her to leave like she meant nothing, but this time she refused to disappear quietly. Not now, not after everything. She straightened her shoulders and walked downstairs. The living room lights were on, casting a harsh glow over the space. Valentina was there, sitting stiffly, but she shot to her feet

Rico lay quietly on his bed, his chest rising and falling heavily. The room was empty now, Calla having left only minutes ago, but her presence still lingered like a bruise he couldn’t touch. He hurled the whiskey bottle at the wall, the crash loud enough to shake the room, glass flying everywhere as the amber liquid splashed down the wall.A groan tore from his chest as his hand moved instinctively to his wounds. His jaw was clenched tight, his face and lips pale as porcelain, pain and anger sitting clearly in his expression. He pulled in a rough breath, then another, trying to steady himself, trying not to let everything tear him apart at once.Calla had walked in like she belonged there. Like she belonged in his life. Like she hadn’t lied straight to his face or made him look like a fool in front of his men—they now know about Calla, Sandro had pulled footage from Marco's hideout during his hacking. She had acted like she cared, and he hated that part the most, because for a moment

Calla stood there in shock. Her eyes unblinking and lips apart. The slap had meant nothing, and she barely felt it. What hurt her most was the news of Rico being shot and in critical condition. It tore her apart not knowing why he got shot. How he was right now, or where he was. A gut-wrenching feeling tugged painfully from her throat to her stomach. Her fingers trembled, and her knees grew weak. Valentina's voice slowly drowned out. Calla didn't know when the man came and held Valentina, to restrain her. Her feet moved lightly before she could control them. Another step and another, till she was already moving up the steps. She could hear Valentina's screams, calling her back and cussing at her, but she kept moving forward. She moved past the many doors, a particular one on her mind, her heart thudding loudly. As she reached Rico's room, she didn't care to knock. One single twist of the knob led her inside. She gasped at the horrifying sight before her.The white mattress was soaked

  • His To Possess    Chapter 105: Gloomy Atmosphere

Calla is heavily distraught and unsettled. Now in her room, she hasn't been able to sleep since Rico left. Still in shock at what happened, her body trembling and her lips quivering. She paced mindlessly, her legs tired now, but her mind still fully awake."Stupid... stupid," she muttered to herself, her palm connecting to her forehead. She knew she had to do something to fix the damage. It may not be entirely, but at least, to get back on his good side.A frustrated sigh slipped from her lips. She paused and slumped on the edge of the bed. Her feet thumped lowly against the floor as her mind wandered. Her gaze drifted to the damaged burner phone, scattered over the ground. She exhaled and gathered the parts she could find, then came back to her position on the bed.She stared at the phone parts in her hands, and a laugh tore through her.Her shoulders shook, and her eyes teared up. "Why did I keep the chip and phone so close by?" She asked herself in between laughter. "Like who the
