The next morning, Lilian woke earlier than usual. She stretched, then stepped out into the quiet hall, only to pause when she heard soft sobs coming from the sitting room. Curious, she moved closer, careful not to make a sound.

There, she saw Seraphina curled up on the couch, her face buried in her hands. Vivienne sat beside her, stroking her hair.

“Why, Mom?” Seraphina sobbed. “Why did you let Isadora take my room? That’s my room!”

Vivienne’s tone was calm, coaxing. “Hush, sweetheart. Don’t cry. Things will be better soon. Once we get your sister on our side, everything will change for the better. Besides… Sophia is coming back.”

At that, Seraphina’s tears instantly slowed. Her head shot up, eyes wide. “Really? Big sis is coming?”

Vivienne smiled faintly. “Yes, she’ll be here soon.”

Lilian clenched her fists, her jaw tight. She had heard enough and turned to leave—only to bump into Isabella, who was standing right behind her, also listening.

They exchanged looks. Isabella raised an eyebrow. “Who do you think Sophia is?”

Lilian shrugged stiffly. “No idea.”

But before Lilian could move, Isabella suddenly asked, “Why do you hate your own parents so much?”

The question made Lilian freeze. Slowly, she turned to her sister. Her eyes were cold, steady. “Because they’re not worth being called parents. A real parent would never abandon their child to suffer. And I’m starting to believe Mom and Dad had a hand in the baby switch.”

Isabella’s eyes widened slightly. “That’s a serious accusation, Lilian.”

Lilian gave a bitter chuckle. “With the way they treat Isadora? I’m certain Dad had a hand in it. And I’ll find out.”

Isabella’s expression softened. She reached for her sister’s hand. “Thank you, sissy… for always being by my side.”

Lilian smiled faintly. “Don’t worry. We’ll protect Isadora together.”

But Isabella pulled away with a determined look. “Before that, I need to confront something.”

Before Lilian could ask, Isabella strode confidently into the sitting room. Vivienne quickly straightened, forcing a smile. Matteo, who had joined them, looked on suspiciously.

“Uncle, Aunt,” Isabella began politely, her tone respectful but her eyes sharp. “I just want to ask something. Why is Isadora not going to school? Why does Seraphina get an education while my sister is left behind?”

Vivienne opened her mouth, scrambling for an excuse, but Isabella cut her short.

“I don’t want excuses. I want this fixed. From today, I, Lilian, and Isadora will attend the same school. Together.”

Matteo’s expression flickered, then he forced a smile. “Of course, yes. You’re all my daughters.”

Isabella’s eyes narrowed in disdain. She wasn’t fooled. “Good. Because in addition to that, I also believe I and my sister are the rightful heirs to our father’s properties. So I want every document related to the companies he owned handed to us. Will that be a problem?”

Before Matteo could respond, the front door creaked open. A girl with long hair walked in, rolling a suitcase behind her. She dropped it with a confident thud and smirked.

“That will never happen,” she declared.

Seraphina’s face instantly lit up. “Sophia!” she cried, leaping from the couch to hug her. Sophia kissed her cheeks, then turned sharply to face Isabella.

“You just got here yesterday and you’re already demanding property? How greedy.”

Isabella tilted her head calmly. “And who might you be?”

The girl smirked. “I’m Sophia Sinclair. Your cousin. And Lilian’s twin sister.”

From the shadows, Lilian stepped forward, clapping her hands slowly. Her face was pale with shock, but her eyes burned.

“So… Mom and Dad kept my twin? And I was the one who got switched with Isadora? What a coincidence, isn’t it, Isabella?”

Isabella stroked her chin with mock amusement. “Yes, indeed. A very big coincidence. Makes me wonder if something fishy is going on.”

She took a step toward Sophia, her voice dropping. “Listen well—I don’t care if you’re my cousin. This is my father’s property, and you have no share in it. I came here and found my sister bruised, treated like a maid instead of the daughter of this mansion. From today on, she will do nothing for you people.”

Sophia laughed coldly. “Oh really? You think you’re bold and smart, but you’re nothing but a country bumpkin. You won’t last long here if you don’t learn your place—”

Without warning, Isabella raised her hand and slapped Sophia hard across the face, the sharp crack echoing through the room. Sophia staggered back in shock, clutching her cheek.

Isabella’s hand cracked across her face. Sophia stumbled back, shocked.

Before she could recover, Lilian stepped up and slapped her too.

“Listen well,” Lilian said, her voice shaking with rage. “I don’t care if you’re my blood sister or twin—I hate injustice. You, Dad, Mom, and even this spoiled brat Seraphina have all treated Isadora like trash. She is family, and this is how you treat family?”

Her words cut like a blade. She turned on Matteo, her glare unforgiving.

“Tell me the truth. Did you pay the doctor to switch me and Isadora? Just so you could control their inheritance?”

The room went dead silent.

Matteo’s face twisted with fury. “And what if I did?” he snapped.

Isabella let out a low, mocking laugh. “So you truly did?”

Matteo’s lips curled into a cruel smirk. “Of course I did. Did you think I’d sit back and let your father take everything?”

Lilian’s voice trembled with anger. “Take everything? Were you part of his life when he worked hard for it? What right do you have to claim what you were never part of?”

The air in the room thickened. The truth had finally begun to unravel.

Grandma, still seated in the car outside the school, had seen everything. A proud smile spread across her lips as Isabella stood her ground. She leaned back and told the driver, “Head home.”Inside the classroom, Isabella pushed the door open. The air shifted immediately—cold eyes, sharp whispers, and judgmental stares all met her. She ignored them, walking with steady steps until the teacher gestured for her to stand at the front.“Introduce yourself to the class,” the teacher instructed.Isabella lifted her chin. “My name is Isabella Sinclair.”Several students glanced at one another. The Sinclair name was heavy, and they knew it.“I am the rightful heir to the Sinclair empire and everything that belongs to my late father,” she continued, her voice clear and confident. Gasps echoed through the room. She let the silence linger before finishing with a smirk. “Whether you like me or not, it doesn’t matter to me.”From the doorway, Sophia had been watching the whole thing. The next morning, Lilian and Isadora were ready to leave. Their bags were packed, and the bodyguards stood at attention by the door. Vivienne and Matteo watched from the side, their faces hard with disapproval. Still, neither dared to object—Matteo valued his mother’s word too much to cross her openly.Lilian and Isadora hugged Isabella tightly at the doorway. “Take care of yourself,” Lilian whispered.“I will,” Isabella replied, forcing a smile. “You two stay safe.”They kissed her goodbye before following Grandma and her guards to the waiting cars.As soon as the vehicles pulled away, Sophia stepped closer, a smug smile tugging her lips. “A country bumpkin thinks she can control this house,” she sneered, giggling as her eyes roved over Isabella. “Let’s see how long you’ll last here.”Isabella said nothing. Without a word, she turned on her heel and went to her room. Sitting on the edge of her bed, she pulled out her phone, searching for the best high schools around. After scrolling

Sophia immediately stood up and rushed to call Lilian. At that moment, Grandma walked into the sitting room with Isabella at her side. Her sharp eyes scanned the room.“What is going on here?” she asked firmly.Matteo quickly rose to his feet, trying to sound composed.“He’s Lilian’s fiancé,” he said, motioning toward Riccardo. “He’s here for her hand in marriage.”Grandma’s expression turned cold as she stared at him.“Lilian’s fiancé? Is that so?”She moved forward and sat down on the couch, while Isabella stood silently behind her, like a shield.Matteo nodded, but his confidence wavered.Grandma turned her attention to Riccardo.“How well do you know Lilian?”Riccardo froze. He had no answer—of course, this was his first time meeting her.A few minutes later, Lilian entered with Sophia by her side. Without hesitation, she went straight to sit next to Grandma, clutching her hand tightly.Grandma looked at her softly.“Do you know this gentleman, Lilian?”Matteo gave Lilian a warnin

After their grandmother was taken to her room to rest, the rest of the family also retired to their rooms. But Isabella had other plans. Quietly, she slipped out and made her way down to the kitchen. She grabbed an onion, peeled it quickly, and squeezed the juice into her eyes. Tears welled up instantly, streaming down her cheeks. She blinked a few times, adjusting her expression until she looked utterly heartbroken.Taking a deep breath, she hurried down the hallway and knocked on her grandmother’s door. The old woman opened it with a warm smile—only for that smile to vanish the moment she saw Isabella’s tear-streaked face. Concern replaced joy, and she quickly ushered the girl inside.“Child, what’s wrong?” Grandma said, guiding Isabella to sit on the bed. She cupped her hands around Isabella’s trembling shoulders, her voice soft but urgent.Isabella buried her face in her palms and sobbed. “Grandma… I’ve lived such a miserable life in the orphanage with Lilian. And when I came back

Matteo’s voice cut through the silence like a blade.“Do you really think I won’t hurt you just because you’re my daughter?” he asked, his eyes fixed coldly on Lilian.Lilian let out a dry chuckle. “Really?”Without answering, Matteo reached out and pulled Sophia closer to him. He rested a hand on her shoulder with mock affection.“You see, she’s a wonderful daughter. Just like Seraphina. They understand what family business means.” His tone hardened. “Your emotions aren’t needed in family business, Lilian. If you want something to work, you must keep your feelings out of it.”He paused, straightening his suit jacket.“As for school, I’ll approve it. You’ll all go. But Lilian—” his gaze sharpened, “I’ve already made a very good match for you.”Lilian narrowed her eyes. “Is that supposed to be a joke?”Vivienne quickly rushed to her side, grasping her hand as though to soften the blow.“Come now, girl. Riccardo is a very good kid.”Lilian pulled her hand back slightly. “Who’s Riccardo?
