The main hall was dead silent.

The musicians were gone. The florists were gone. The visiting Alphas had been cleared out.

The only people in the room were the five Silver Pine elders, Alpha Viktor, Edith, and Juan.

Juan stood near the Alpha’s chair. His suit was perfect, but his face was an absolute mask of stone. When the guards dragged me through the double doors, his grey eyes locked onto me.

He saw the red mark on my cheek where the guard had hit me.

The silver wolf flared in his eyes insta

The abandoned train yard felt like a second home now.It was midnight. The city was quiet, but the air was still warm and thick with humidity. I stood in the dirt clearing, bouncing lightly on the balls of my feet. I wore a grey tank top and dark shorts. Sweat dripped down the back of my neck."You are dropping your left guard again," Liam warned me, circling me slowly in the dark."I am not dropping it," I argued, keeping my fists raised near my chin. "I am baiting you."Liam laughed softly. "Baiting me? You are getting arrogant, little sister.""Come and find out," I challenged him, a fierce smile touching my lips.Liam lunged forward. His speed was incredible. In the past few weeks, the cheap meat we bought from the corner butcher had finally started fueling our wolves properly. Our healing was faster. Our strength was returning.Liam threw a fast hook toward my jaw.I did not step back. I ducked perfectly under his arm. I used his forward momentum, grabbing his wrist and twisting

Juan's POV)The Alpha’s office was totally silent.I sat behind my wooden desk, staring at the map spread out across the surface. It was a detailed map of the entire region, showing the Silver Pine borders, the Redwood territory, and the sprawling human cities to the south.Thick red lines were drawn across the map, tracing the paths my search teams had taken over the past three weeks. They found nothing. The rainstorm had washed away every single trace of her scent. The river had swallowed their footprints. Cora and Liam had vanished into the wild like ghosts.I rubbed my tired eyes with the palm of my hand. I had not slept more than three hours a night since I found the empty cell. My wolf was a restless, angry beast pacing inside my chest. He scratched at the frozen wall in my mind, begging our mate to let us in, but she kept the ice thick and cold.A sharp knock sounded at the door."Enter," I commanded, my voice flat and rough.Caleb walked into the office. He wore his dark guard

The smell of old grease and burnt coffee filled my lungs. It was six in the morning at Rusty’s Diner. The sun was barely up, but the small restaurant was already packed with tired humans. Construction workers, truck drivers, and night-shift nurses sat in the cracked vinyl booths, talking loudly over the sound of the old jukebox.I balanced a round plastic tray on my fingertips. Three plates of scrambled eggs, bacon, and buttered toast sat perfectly on top."Order up for table four, Cora!" the cook yelled from the kitchen window, ringing a tiny silver bell."I have it," I called back, walking smoothly past the narrow counter. My arms ached with a dull, constant burn. My thighs felt like solid lead. Liam and I had trained in the dirt at the old train yard until three in the morning. We only slept for two hours before my alarm clock buzzed, forcing me to put on this ugly pink uniform and tie my hair back.I walked over to table four and set the plates down with a polite, practiced smile.

  • His regret; the alpha’s rejected maid   Chapter 43

I looked down at the peeling floorboards. Liam was speaking the ugly truth. We were Nightfall wolves. Our parents belonged to the most feared warrior bloodline in history. But we were raised as servants. We knew how to take orders, but we did not know how to fight like our ancestors."We left the journal behind," I whispered, the regret stinging my throat. "I hid it in the loose brick in my old room. We do not have the training guides my father wrote.""We do not need the book," Liam said firmly. He walked over to me and placed his clean hands on my shoulders. "We have the blood, Cora. The instincts are inside us. We just need to wake them up."I looked up into his eyes. "How?""We train," Liam declared. "I watched the Silver Pine guards train every single day. I know the stances. I know the moves. We are going to push our bodies until our wolves take over. We are going to learn how to fight."My heart beat a little faster. Training meant fighting. Fighting meant tapping into the wild

The metal floor of the truck vibrated for hours.I sat in the pitch black, leaning my head against a stack of cardboard boxes. The cold air seeped through my wet dress, chilling my skin down to the bone. My shoulder throbbed with a dull ache. Beside me, Liam was quiet. I could hear his steady breathing over the loud rumble of the engine. We did not speak. We just waited.Inside my chest, the ice wall stood strong. It was a frozen barrier blocking out the mate bond. I could feel Juan on the other side of it. His panic had turned into a dark, raging storm. He was searching for us. His wolf was tearing the territory apart, looking for any trace of my scent. But the storm could not reach me. I kept the ice thick. I kept my heart locked away.Suddenly, the truck engine slowed down. The tires rolled over bumpy asphalt, and the loud rumble turned into a quiet hum. Outside the metal walls, new sounds filled the air. Car horns honked. Sirens wailed in the distance. The noise was constant and c

CoraThe storm had finally stopped. The violent wind was gone, replaced by the quiet, dripping sounds of the wet forest. The air smelled fresh and clean.I sat on a fallen log, taking a deep breath of the cold morning air.We had walked through the dark woods for hours after leaving the river. My legs felt like lead. My black dress was ruined, torn at the hem and covered in thick, dried mud. My shoulder ached, but the pure relief of being out in the open sky made the pain bearable."Drink," Liam said, stepping out from the trees. He handed me a plastic bottle of water. He had found a clear stream a few miles back and washed the dirt from his face. The cut above his eye was starting to heal, leaving a dark, bruised line."Thank you," I whispered, taking the bottle and drinking the cold water greedily.Liam sat down on the log next to me. He looked around the quiet, sunlit forest."We are close," Liam announced softly. "I can hear the sound of truck engines in the distance. The human
