Luka's POV

He watched her from across the rink and said nothing.

Watching Mila had become second nature, like reading the ice before a shot. It had become something deeper without his permission.

She moved between two young players efficiently, clipboard in hand, touching one’s shoulder to adjust his posture. She was so focused and completely unaware of how she filled every room she entered.

Carson had watched her the same way.

Mila's POV Mila woke up thinking about all four of them. Not one at a time, the way she usually did. She lay in the dark, staring at the ceiling, and made a quiet decision. She was going to be honest with herself. Just this once, in here. She thought about Ryder first. She remembered her first real impression of him in the medical bay early on… how he stepped between her and Carson without being asked. The look on his face when she handled it herself. Then the locker room rose in her mind.Mila had wanted him. She had said yours and meant it in that breathless, undeniable way. Ryder Knox made her feel claimed in a way that should have bothered her and didn't. He made her feel like the most important thing in whatever room they shared. Her breath hitched slightly at the memory.Metal benches. The sharp sound of boots on the floor. Him stepping in front of her without even thinking. She exhaled slo

Ryder's POV Ryder lay in the dark, staring at the ceiling with Jace’s words looping in his head. She didn’t answer. He had said; I know like it was simple, but it wasn’t. He had driven home, sat in his car for eleven minutes, stood in his kitchen staring at nothing, and finally given up on pretending he could rest. She didn’t say yes.She didn’t say no.He knew that space. He had been living in it with her for weeks. What he hadn’t known was that he wasn’t the only one.Fuck.He got up at five, ran until his lungs burned, stood under a cold shower until his skin went numb, and drove to the facility as he kept on mutteringHe was a professional, and he could do this. The medical bay door stood open at seven-forty.Ryder meant to walk past it, but stopped in the doorway instead.Mila sat at her desk, hair pulled back, writing in a file, coffee going cold beside her. Kai's POV Kai was up at five. He showered, made coffee, and sat at his kitchen table with the USB drive in front of him.He went through it all again. Webber’s documentation was meticulous—financial links, communications between Foss and Carson, logs, footage. Everything was dated and clear. Someone had waited for years to hand this over.Kai picked up his phone and messaged his league contact.—I need thirty minutes this morning. In person. It’s significant—The reply came quickly: Eight fifteen. You can come to my office. He finished his coffee, slipped the drive into his jacket, and left.He thought of Mila in his office last night—lamplight on her face, her steady gaze when she said; You can say it now.He would do so, but after today.Mila's POV She was in the medical bay at seven-thirty when Kai’s message came through.‘It’s done. The League office has everything. Fos

When he couldn't find one, he went after her another way.Luka’s grip tightened on the boards.Mila looked up then. Her eyes found his across the ice. One second, but it was enough. He pushed off and skated away, telling himself he would get through practice and the rest of the day before he let anything else in.He almost managed it.Mila's POV She fin

Mila's POV Mila didn’t tell anyone what she was going to do.She had agreed to wait. To let Kai handle it carefully and she had meant it last night. This morning she woke at five with Grant Webber’s name burning in her chest. By six-fifteen she stood outside his office, clipboard under her arm, and her mind made up. She knocked twice.A pause. Then— “Come in.”Grant Webber looked up. He recognized her right away—not surprised, just calm, like he’d been expecting this knock.“Dr. Torres.”“Mr. Webber.” She closed the door and stayed standing. “I think you know why I’m here.”He studied her for a long moment, then set down his pen. “Sit down.”She sat.“You found the notes,” he said.“We found the footage. All of it.”Webber nodded slowly. He looked tired, not afraid. “I didn’t know how else to warn you,” he said. “I couldn’t come to you directly. If anyone

Jace's POV Jace went straight to the ice. Practice wouldn’t start for another forty minutes, but the rink was the only place where his body knew exactly what to do and his mind had to follow. Right now, he needed that. He stepped onto the empty space alone and skated. No drills. No purpose. Just the scrape of his blades, the cold air biting his face, and the deep silence of the arena that had always felt more like home than anywhere else. He wasn’t angry. That surprised him. He had braced for anger on the walk from the medical bay, but what sat in his chest was harder to outrun. He had kissed her. She had kissed him back. Then he had asked the question he already knew the answer to, and her silence had told him everything. He had picked up her clipboard, set it on the desk, and walked out because it was the only thing he could do that didn’t make it worse. He drove hard into th
