Chapter 2

"No," he emphatically refused.

Vincent felt that his ego was stepped on by what the woman said. It's as if his interlocutor wants to convey that his love for his wife is insignificant and that everything can be bought with money.

"Oh, come on! $20,000! Take it or leave it?"

It was as if Vincent's throat suddenly dried up at the woman's offer. That was a large amount and a great addition to Laila's surgery but his pride still prevailed. He stood up from sitting.

"I already gave you my answer. It's a no. If you don't have anything else to say, let me leave."

"Wait."

Romana also stood up and took her leather long wallet from inside her bag. She opened it and pulled out a calling card.

"Take it. I know you'll need it someday." Romana's details of where she works and what her number is being written on that piece of paper.

Vincent just looked at it. He has no intention of taking that and another thing, he cannot betray his wife. He intends to dance better next time.

"Your pride is too high, Vincent. You're in a tight situation. How can you save money if you're still rejecting someone as beautiful, clean, and rich as me? Just take it, okay?"

Romana approached him and put her calling card in his jeans pocket. He was startled when she simply caressed his manhood.

She brought her mouth close to his ear and then whispered, "Don't worry, I'm good. I'm sure you'll forget your wife if you agree." Followed by running her hot tongue along his neck.

His sensitive part twitched because of what the woman did. Before he could react, she was already gone. After Romana disappeared from his sight, Billy quickly approached him.

"What, Bro?! Why did you let her leave without you?!"

"I'm not selling my body," he said in an even voice.

"Are you crazy?! What are you? A saint? Bro, you're a man! You have nothing to lose!" Billy insisted.

He faced the man. "I can't betray my wife. Don't insist on what you want!"

"Money that has turned into stone! You know you can save your wife with the money she will give you! Bro, that's just a dick! You can wash it after you enter another cave!"

He thought Billy was right but he couldn't add it to Laila's resentment. Her condition might get worse if she discovered all of his doings.

After the night's work, he went home to their small house. Her pale wife looking out from the bamboo window, maybe waiting for his arrival. Her shy smile appeared when she saw him. Laila quickly stood up and then left the house.

"Vincent!"

The man smiled back. He kissed his wife on the lips and then hugged her tightly. He peered at his wife's face and immediately noticed the blackened bottom of it.

"Wait, didn't you sleep well? The size of your eye bags grew, Wife!"

"Because I'm not used to not having you next to me when I sleep. I miss you," she growled.

"Gosh! Do you really miss me or this!" He pointed to his zipper.

Laila giggled while slapping his big arm.

"You are really mischievous, Husband!"

"Come on in! Let's have breakfast!" He put his arm around Laila and then helped her to enter the house.

A black car was there in front of their house. Its owner, Romana, lowered the tinted glass window. As she watched the couple, she couldn't help but be jealous.

"That woman is very lucky. Her husband is willing to do everything to make her life better. Is there anyone willing to do that for me?"

A bitter smile drew on her lips after she closed the window.

Romana grew up in a broken family. Her father left them and went with another woman. A woman with wealth and many connections. Her mother came from an ordinary family, so what does she have against the woman of his father?

After that day, she suffered together with her mother. What her father did became her motivation to work hard to become rich and she did it until she realized that she was not young anymore.

She did not want to get married because of the trauma that her father caused. She thought it was okay to have no partner in life as long as he had money until he met this Vincent who slapped her with the truth that she was sad because she was alone and no one loved her.

"It's funny. I still need to reach this age to be curious about the feeling of being in loved and to be loved."

She drove the car she was riding in. Vincent suddenly looked out the window after he heard the angry sound of the car's engine leaving.

"Wife, who owns that car?" he asked Laila who was currently eating the noodles she bought at the small dishes store.

"I don't know, Husband. I didn't notice because it wasn't there before you came."

Because the place where he and Laila live is a bit hidden and the houses are having big between them. It's also rare for a car to be misled there, that's why he asked.

"Are you sure, Wife? Aren't you having someone sleep here at home when I'm not here, huh?!" he joked.

Laila winced as a reaction to what he said. "In my condition, would I still cheat?! I'm lucky that I have you, Husband. Apart from being handsome, you're also hardworking."

"And?" he added.

"And kind."

"And?" he asked again in a satirical tone.

"And your dick is big!"

"That's it! You got it, Wife!"

Laila laughed. "You crazy! You always want to praise your hotdog!"

"Why? It's really big! You always cry when I'm claiming you."

Laila's eyes glared at him.

"Stop it, Hubby," there was a threat in her tone.

He chuckled and continued to eat his food. His joy was unmatched whenever he was with Laila. Laila seems to be a part of his body that he doesn't want to lose, so he promises himself that he will do whatever it takes to make her live longer.
