Chapter 4

Author: Puffer Fish
Sophie's ambition swelled until it nearly burst out of her eyes.

"Don't worry, Dad. I won't disappoint you."

She seemed to be staring at the match, but in reality, she was listening to my thoughts the whole time.

"Dad, final score is 3-1. It's locked."

Marissa's palms were sweating with excitement beside her.

The final whistle sounded on time.

The score froze on the screen.

3-1.

Perfect. Three calls in a row.

At that moment, my father's voice could not hide his excitement.

"Sophie, I truly didn't expect this. You're incredible.

"Three straight wins, all upset scores. Even if I handled it myself, I might not have managed something this clean."

Marissa cried with joy and immediately took out her phone to spread the news.

It was not only the Harbor City circles. The whole internet went wild.

The tags "Sophie Bell's three-win miracle" and "the strongest young betting queen" shot straight to the top of every trending list.

Everyone praised her as a once-in-a-generation genius, a real little lucky charm.

My father kept his promise and handed Sophie control of the Foster family's World Cup book in front of everyone.

Sophie's triumph nearly overflowed from her eyes.

She looked down at me like a victor.

"Adrian, I took over the World Cup book this time. You're not mad, are you?"

I wore a gentle smile, my tone open and calm.

"Why would I be mad?

"As long as it helps the family and makes Foster Group better, I have no objection."

Only then did Sophie let go of her final shred of caution.

In her eyes, I had admitted defeat and could no longer create any waves.

Once her authority was confirmed, Sophie's first official show soon arrived.

To fully build her name and cement the lucky charm persona, Marissa moved the viewing hall directly into the Foster Group conference center.

The huge conference room was brightly lit.

Every employee of Foster Group was present, forced to watch together.

Not only that, Marissa arranged a full public livestream.

High-definition cameras stayed locked on Sophie at the center seat, broadcasting the scene around the clock.

The livestream broke one million viewers almost instantly, and the heat kept climbing.

Comments rolled by nonstop.

[Here we go! The betting queen runs the book for the first time!]

[Three perfect calls already. She'll print money again today.]

[Foster Group made the right choice. They should've replaced Adrian ages ago. He was just dead weight.]

[Waiting for the goddess to work another miracle. All in, everyone!]

Every viewer was certain Sophie would repeat her miracle.

Sophie wore a delicate little evening dress, calm and confident, looking as if she controlled the entire board.

Marissa stood beside her, smiling as directors congratulated her.

My father sat with expectation in his eyes, full of trust.

Under the attention of the whole city, the World Cup match began.

The pressure in the room tightened instantly.

Hundreds of employees held their breath and stared at Sophie.

They were ready to throw everything they had into this match.

The live comments rolled across the screen.

Everyone was waiting for the betting queen to become a god again.

Only I, sitting in the corner, almost laughed out loud.

The show had begun.

My father asked softly, full of expectation, "Sophie, the match has started. What's the score for this one?"

Sophie took a deep breath and arranged her face into a thoughtful expression.

In the next second, my thoughts poured into her ears without resistance.

Sophie followed them and, completely out of control, began to sing.

"Darling, hold my hand...

"Nothing beats a jet 2 holiday..."

The first thing Sophie did after opening her eyes was lock onto me on the sofa.I looked at her innocently."Sophie, what are you talking about? I don't understand."She pushed herself upright, unwillingness filling her voice."Why didn't you properly analyze the World Cup that day?"I scratched my head in confusion, my face flawless."The World Cup book had already been handed entirely to you."I thought it had nothing to do with me, so I didn't think about it anymore."My answer left Sophie speechless. She growled through clenched teeth."Do you know you killed me?"The whole internet is laughing at me now. Everyone is watching me make a fool of myself."My eyes stayed clear and confused."But what does that have to do with me?"Can my thoughts control your decisions?"Sophie bit her lip, rage and resentment burning in her face."So I'm supposed to carry the Foster family's responsibility all by myself?"I may be operating the book, but you're the eldest son of the Fo
