Jennifer's POV
He gave me a confused look, and I quickly rephrase my words not wanting to get in trouble.
“I meant to say yet, I'm drenched,” I beamed with a smile forgetting my problem for a while, but he didn't return the smile. He's always so cold. “Then stop walking mindlessly in the rain,” he scolded.
“Are you scolding me, professor? Don't worry, I'm a good girl, and I will listen to you.” I whispered in a low voice gazing into his blue eyes, and it was like time stopped as we both stood staring at each other.
I felt hot just standing there with him, that was the closest we have ever been in years, and standing in the rain makes it more romantic, as I inched forward to him, he took some steps back.
“You can have it,” he said, handing me the umbrella, and before I could refute he left.
“Just like that!” I exclaimed, but a smile hitched my lips, as my nostril was filled with his masculine scent missed with the fresh rain water.
“Oh, Lyon Sanders! The man you are.” I beamed, and walked to my dorm. I decided to find a job to pay for my college tuition even though I doubted there would be a high paying job for a student like me.
Even though my encounter with my professor was brief it still kept my mood up, which made me ecstatic during my job search online, but my mood turned solemn when I couldn't find any suitable job.
I laid helplessly on the bed, and I wondered if I should just take a break, and find a proper job. But I remembered that I have an alternative, I can sell one of my kidneys. I searched online, but was disappointed when I learned of the terms attached to that.
“Crazy work! Why can't I sell my kidney? Doesn't it belong to me?” I mumbled, but I knew I sounded crazy.
I contemplated asking Vera for help since her family was insanely loaded, but I didn't want to be a nuisance. She already helped me with everything starting from clothes, and some school supplies, I couldn't burden her with this.
“Maybe I should take a break, that's not bad.” I said with a resolute voice, but a notification sound from my phone interrupted me.
I picked it up, and noticed that it was a flier for a housekeeper job, and I hissed in frustration, but when my eyes caught the salary I sprawled in shock.
“What! $7000 a month!” I exclaimed, and I cross-checked the information well.
I didn't want to believe it, but when I logged in to the site I was sure of the information, when I checked the location of the house, I knew the offer was legit. It was Hillstone estate, one of the biggest estates in town.
“This could be it!” I blurted like I just made a world evolving discovery, but I calmed down knowing a month's salary won't take care of my tuition.
“Maybe I can ask for advance payment, I am sure my new boss won't be a cheapskate.” I said with a tone of finality like I already got the job.
I slept like a baby that night dreaming about the job, and my hot professor, but I got cold feet the next day, scared that I might not get a job, and I might have to take a break.
“So I booked a spa appointment at Felix, do you want to tag along?” Vera asked, which was her habit whenever she wanted to ask me out. She never forced any of our outings on me, such a sweet girl.
“No, I will pass, I have to be somewhere.” I replied walking out of the class, remembering that the job interview was scheduled for 3 in the afternoon, and it was already past 2.
“Why? Where are you going?” She asked, and I didn't know if I should tell her. “Actually..nothing, I just need to check on the kids at the orphanage,” I said, and she nodded her head.
“Oh, that sounds fun, but I can't cancel the appointment, tell the kids I said hello.” Vera blurted, as she got into her pink Ferrari and drove off.
“I can take care of this myself,” I said with a sigh, as I boarded a cab to Hillstone estate. The cab stopped at the estate gate, since it couldn't go further.
I got to the mansion, and I was surprised by how magnificent it looked. I have seen a lot of mansions since I visited Vera's place, but this place beats all those hands down.
“Did they use the country's budget to build this?” I whispered under my breath, and a man in an all black suit walked up to me.
“And you are?” He asked, eyeing me suspiciously, so I told him I was there for the job interview.
“Oh? Then follow me,” he said, leading me away. We got into the house, and the interior left me breathless as they were screaming luxury with a touch of royalty to them. Whoever owns the house was swimming in wealth.
Many applicants were there for the job, which wasn't strange since the pay was mouthwatering, and after a while I got called in.
“You can do this, Jennifer! Don't forget you need this job to survive!” I breathed, and I walked into a room which looked like a study room.
“So you are Jennifer Kendrick?” I heard a familiar voice ask before I could take a look, but I was surprised when I saw the face of the man sitting behind the desk in the room.
“Professor Sander? Is that you?” I asked with bubble excitement, but the man just plainly stared at me.
Different thoughts went through my mind as I stared at the man, and I knew right that instant that I would get the job, but Professor Sander as my boss, could that be a sign that my forbidden romance would come through? I mulled in my head staring at the gorgeous man.
“We are going to start the interview now, Ms..” he slurred.
“Kendrick, Ms. Kendrick.” I completed it, but I wouldn't mind changing it to Sanders, and I chuckled at my thoughts.
Jennifer's POV I stood in shock, trying to digest what the man just said. How could it be that Vera, who had been my friend all this while, could be so vicious and do that to me? “But Vera, that's not…” I was saying it, but I couldn't get the word out. It felt like my brain was frozen; I was unable to think of anything that could make Vera do something like that. “Are you okay?” Lyon asked, dragging my body to his, but I just stood rigidly looking at him.“Did you mean the video? Vera was the one that released it.” I asked; my voice shook with fear, and Lyon sighed, seeing how shaken I was by the truth. I had thought all this while that Mathew was the culprit, but who could have thought that it was no other than the person I called my soul sister?“She might not be the one that recorded it, but she was the one who got it leaked; she paid the culprit to release it.” He said, and I went silent, while he waited for me to say something, but I wasn't able to say anything. After a long ti
Lyon's POV I couldn't believe what just happened at the restaurant, and I wondered why that old man kept messing with me. Why was he trying to get on my nerves? I got into my car, as I messed up my tie, but that didn't ease my anger. The only reason I kept her go was because she was Jennifer's friend, but that also means I was pleased with it. How could a lowly person like that think of seducing me?“Boss, how did the meeting go?” He asked, and I chuckled angrily. “Meeting? Of course, it's a blind date meeting; how could that old man have tricked me?” I rasped in anger, and Steve shielded himself away immediately by not asking me any questions. If I wanted to prevent this kind of situation another time, then I have to make sure my grandfather doesn't set up meetings like this again. “From now on, don't let my grandfather mess up my schedule again.” I say.“Run a check on the Kingston family and also on Vera Kingston,” I mumbled, and Steve agreed as he ignited the car, zooming off fro
Vera's POV I kept a bright smile on my face as I looked at the man, and I could tell that he looked uncomfortable with me there, but that was the least of my worries. That awkward feeling would vanish after we fucked each other through the night.“I didn't know you were the one I was meeting; it was supposed to be one of my grandfather's long-time friends who have an investment to make, but–” He trailed off, and I beamed him a smile. Was that the script they wove up?“Actually, I'm not an investor; definitely not your grandfather's long-time friend. I'm just Vera Kingston, Professor Sander; it's great to call you that,” I said, but he didn't look impressed by that.“Are you saying I wasted 30 minutes of my time because of misinformation? So what are you doing here, then?” He asked, as he checked his wristwatch again, and I wondered why my sexy charm wasn't working on him. There was no way I wouldn't turn heads if I wore this kind of sexy outfit to the club, but it looked like the pro
Vera's POV It had been a week after I found out that I was pregnant, and I tried to contact Alexander about it because he was better off being my baby daddy than a security man, but he brutally demoralized me, saying I slept with a lot of people, so he couldn't be too sure. I thought it was all over, but my mother was able to secure a dinner date with Lyon Sander for me, and even when I asked her how she did it, her reply was simple.“Mom's magic!”It was the day of the dinner date already, and I made up my mind to bed Lyon Sander that night because my pregnancy would be evident soon, so I needed to act fast and have him pour his seed in me.I tapped my feet gently on the floor waiting for my mom to finish fixing my jewelry, but she paused instinctively as she gawked at me. “What's going on, Mom?” I asked impatiently, and I felt nauseous by the scent of her perfume. A lot of things had been irritating me these past few days; even I had changed my eating pattern because I found every
Meredith's POV I couldn't believe the filial Lyon would ever disobey his grandfather like this. I thought as I watched Lyon drag the underage girl away, and I seethed in anger, wondering what was the best way to crush this little love of theirs.I could count the number of times Lyon and I held hands during our marriage, but he was acting like this with this girl. Such insolence!“Did you see your grandson? How could he be so shameless as to ever think–” I heard old man Sander saying, and I sighed.Of course, I have allies; there was no way Sanders would ever agree to that girl being around Lyon.“Calm down, I think she's a–” Grandma Sander was saying, but I interrupted as I entered the room. “You!” Grandma Sander shrieked as she saw me, and that wasn't the welcoming I was expecting.“I’m sorry that I am just offering my greetings even though I had arrived in the country earlier,” I mumbled, as I bowed my head to the elder, but none of them replied to my greetings.I could remember h
Jennifer's POV I watched the professor's face turn ashy with my words, and I knew I was able to rile him up. Even though he was trying his best to look alright, I could tell my words made him uncomfortable, but I also felt uncomfortable having money thrown at my face by his family. We both maintained the silence in the car, but I remembered that I saw Meredith at the restaurant, and even though I wanted to ignore it, I couldn't bring myself to do it.“I saw Meredith; did you have a meeting with her?” “No, we bumped into each other at the restaurant.” He replied, but I didn't believe him.How could they have coincidentally bumped into each other in the restaurant? But the truth was obvious: Meredith must have made the coincidence possible, and he didn't have a way to push her off. The car screeched to a halt, and I thought we were already home, but I noticed we were at the front of a tall building. Before I could ask what was going on, he led me to the rooftop, where I could see the
Jennifer's POV “What are you doing?” I heard Lyon's aggrieved voice, and I panicked. I was shocked to find the man seething with anger at the entrance of the private room, and I wondered what he was doing at the restaurant when he told me clearly that he had work to do.‘Maybe he had one of his meetings in one of the rooms here,’ I thought, and I beamed him an awkward smile as he entered the room. I didn't know how to explain the situation to him because I didn't tell him that I was meeting his grandparents. Or should I lie that I bumped into them?“Why is he here? Did you not say you didn't tell him?” The old man Sander grumbled, and I sighed, not knowing how to defend myself, but it wasn't like the man would've believed me anyway.“No, she didn't invite me here, but can someone tell me what's going on here?” Lyon asked, as he dragged me to his side, which made me overwhelmed with a sense of security. He locked gaze with me, but his face was contorted in anger, which wasn't directe
Lyon's POV I kept looking at my face, checking the time as I attended the meeting, but I wasn't a bit interested. I didn't understand why I was anxious; maybe I was concerned about Jennifer's question the other time. Maybe it was because anytime she asked questions about my schedule, she always got herself in trouble.“Is that all?” I asked, and the investors looked awkward as I skimmed through the contract they gave me. They would steal all the money after the protection was done, and they want me to approve this? They just think I have lost my mind.“About the contract, if you want to adjust–” one of the investors was saying, but I cut him off. “Adjust? This is unacceptable. I don't think you can even think about adjusting this; you are either bold or just unreasonable!” I rasped, and they all looked awkward.“If you are keen to do business with me, then I will send you another contract,” I blurted, and I concluded the meeting, but my assistant informed me that I had another meetin
Jennifer's POV The next day came, and I was all agitated about the meeting. I made a lot of mistakes that morning, which didn't escape Lyon's attention, which he inquired about, but I shrugged it off.“Are you going to be late today?” I asked, as I helped Lyon with his tie, and he gave me a look. “Why are you asking? Did you want me to come back early?” He asked, but I shook my head.I was asking because I didn't want him to come back early. I needed to go somewhere that he didn't need to know about, but I needed to be sure that he wouldn't be arriving early so he wouldn't know about my escapades.“I will be late; I need to attend an investor meeting and after–” he recited his schedule, and I listened attentively, and I didn't know if that was because the man had an insanely sexy voice, or I was just smitten with him. This middle-aged man had me hooked.“That's a lot, but I will be waiting for you.” I hugged him tightly as I pushed him out of the house, but not without him showering
