Chapter 6

작가: Jasmine Flower
"Check your email. Olivia sent you a message before she died," Tessa said, then turned and walked away.

She had already torn off Lily's mask for me.

Shortly after, Braxton University released an official statement on their homepage.

It addressed the accusations of cheating and plagiarism made against Olivia. All of Olivia's exam scores since enrollment were confirmed as her own work, not the result of cheating. Similarly, all four of her published scientific papers were independently completed and not plagiarized.

Every one of Lily's past claims against Olivia's academic misconduct was exposed as a lie and a frame. Consequently, the school expelled Lily, rescinded all her honors and nullified all her grades. She was banned from ever enrolling again.

When Mom, Dad, and Ethan read my emails, they broke down in tears.

They finally grasped the true extent of Lily's bullying and how utterly foolish they had been.

While I battled pain and illness, they accused me of not loving Lily

  • How Long Until My Time Runs Out?   Chapter 7

Ethan's Point of ViewWhen I saw Olivia lying in the morgue, for a fleeting moment, I thought that she had conspired with the doctors, faking her illness just to get my attention—that it was simply her old trick again. But the moment I touched her cold, lifeless arm—completely devoid of warmth—tears streamed from my eyes. I shook her desperately, trying to wake her up. But she didn't. I foolishly believed she'd died due to complications from the kidney donation. I blamed myself. If I'd known this surgery would cost her life, I would have stopped it and let Lily face her own fate. I only wanted Olivia alive. I wanted her to be my bride. But I hadn't known. At the wake, Lily cried and insisted it was her fault, saying she had killed Olivia. I swallowed my fury and comforted her, telling her not to blame herself. Truly, I had been blind to Lily's manipulations. When the medical records in the email revealed the truth, I lost my mind. Olivia had suffered so much pai

When news of my death reached the ward, Mom knocked over her cup in sheer disbelief. Beside her, my typically composed Dad faltered, almost losing his footing."Olivia is dead? No, Ethan, this can't be real. Is this a new game you and Olivia are playing for our attention? You can't be like her!" Mom's voice was laced with disbelief, but her trembling hands gave away her true fear. She knew Ethan wouldn't lie. She just said that to comfort herself. Tears fell uncontrollably—grief pouring out in waves of fear, sadness, and pain. Lily cried hysterically, "Olivia's dead? From a post-surgery infection? Oh, dear God, she died because she donated her kidney to me! I killed Olivia!"She then declared she wanted to die alongside me. She rushed toward the windowsill, intending to jump and end her life, claiming this was the only way to repay the debt she owed me. My smile was cold and mocking as I watched her performance, silently questioning how long she could keep it up. The mome

After I died, my soul drifted in the air.I watched silently as doctors opened my abdomen. The sight of only one kidney immediately sparked confused and shocked murmurs. "Did the patient skip the pre-surgery screening?" one asked, baffled. "There's only one kidney. How are we supposed to proceed with the transplant?"It was true. I had only one kidney.During a family trip five years ago, I suffered a punctured kidney in a car accident as I protected Mom and Dad. They were unconscious at the time, and to spare them worry and self-blame, I kept the truth about my surgery a secret. It was my secret alone, but that was about to change. Next, the doctor's gaze fell upon the heart monitor, showing only a flat line, and he was shocked anew. "She coded. We've just made the incision. How could her heart stop now?""Dr. Ellis, the patient has an advanced brain tumor that has metastasized throughout the body. The surgery didn't cause the death."Dr. Nathan Ellis was furious. "Who

After the doctor left, Lily came over crying, "Olivia, it's okay if you don't want to donate your kidney, but don't go as far as to fake a test report just to curse yourself! "Look how worried Mom and Dad were because of a lie—that's really unfair to them."Her show of concern painted me as the ungrateful daughter. Mom's and Dad's faces were grim. Disappointment radiated from them like a cold wave. Ever since the doctor exposed the report as fake, they hadn't uttered a single harsh word—just stared at me with quiet disgust; they didn't even find it worth their effort. If I weren't their flesh and blood, I was sure they'd have walked away and cut me off entirely—discarding me like some scheming stranger. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. I was wrong. I won't go back on my promise to donate."It was what they wanted to hear. And in saying it, I tacitly admitted to forging the report. But what did denial matter now?I'd already resolved to leave behind a good impression when I d

The next morning, I swallowed an entire bottle of painkillers.I did it so I'd appear normal—so no one would suspect something was wrong with me. But soon, I realized my worry was unwarranted. Lily's pale complexion and swollen body—symptoms of kidney damage—made me look healthier by comparison. No one noticed that I hadn't eaten a single thing since being rescued. Even when the doctor arrived with my pre-surgery physical report, which showed signs of organ failure, no one noticed.I was about to quietly tear the report and throw it away when Lily suddenly rushed over."What's this?" Her voice rang loud and dramatic. "Organ failure? Olivia, you're sick! How can you still donate your kidney to me when you're this weak?"She turned toward our parents. "Mom, Dad, I can't let Olivia harm herself just to help me! I don't want her kidney anymore."Lily cried and mocked me at the same time. Then, in a heartbeat, she shifted into her innocent act—handing the report over, looking utt
