LOGINAva’s POV
“It is time Miss Lowell.” A tiny feminine voice called from the hallway leading to the room I was in. I jumped up instantly and lost my balance. “Ouch!” My butt landed hard on the thick concrete floor. Time for what? Probably breakfast! Let’s play along Ava, I am fucking famished. “Avri!” Another voice screamed. “I will be with you shortly.” I yelled. I rushed over to the mirror again, disbelief lacing my expression. I checked out my appearance, I was dressed in a cloth that looked like a fucking potato sack and did nothing to flatter my curves. I raised up the dress and marched out of the door. Two females stood there, one looked well polished and the other, not so much. “Miss Lowell, your sister will walk you down the hall.” One of the ladies said. I took a look at my supposed sister but she looked away. I nodded my head affirmatively and followed them. The polished lady wore a scowl on her face but she remained silent. Not that I cared! Isn’t she supposed to be my sister? We got to the end of the hallway and the other lady dragged open a huge door, I leaned my head inside slowly and my eyes widened, there should be about a hundred people in there. “Are we having a breakfast party?” I questioned suspiciously. It was met with silence. “Good luck Miss Lowell.” The woman said and turned to leave. I scoffed, why would I need luck to dine? “Avri, this is our family’s pride, don’t ruin it with your…..” “What?” I questioned sternly. “Never mind, let’s go.” She responded curtly. We walked in, many eyes shifted in our direction. I remembered I was terribly dressed. I felt self aware but I managed to keep it together. “Walk!” My supposed sister ordered harshly. “You could as well lift me up like a fucking rag doll.” I responded sharply.” She was taken aback but remained silent. We gently walked towards a podium. Up front my eyes caught that of a fine specimen of a man. His dark curly hair and playboy diamond shaped face got me mesmerized. As I took each step towards him, my heart fluffed, I wished I could fall and he would pick me up, Damn Ava! Unfortunately , you aren’t Cinderella right now! Fuck! I wasn’t even wearing golden shoes nor did I have a fairy godmother. My supposed sister stopped, “This is as far as I can go, be the bride that you are.” “Bride? What the hell?” “Miss Lowell, we are waiting.” A man in a brown suit said calmly. I lifted up my dress again and rushed towards the podium where that guy sat. He gave me a short look and my heart pounded again but he looked away. “Alpha killian, it is time.” The brown suit man said to the man. Alpha killian! I am certain I knew that name, I looked round the room, the lights were flashing in my face, expectant eyes were on us. My suspicion was turning out to be real, I knew this scenery, Just as it was written, the mahogany door, the crest, Now it all made sense that…. “I, Alpha Killian of the Silverfang pack, reject Avri Lowell of the Golden Dawn pack.” Gasps rose in the air. Murmurs followed immediately from the audience. I scoffed loudly! This was the part where Avri was supposed to tear up and sob uncontrollably. My ear picked the words from the crowd: I knew he was going to reject her! The moon goddess probably made some kind of mistake with this knot of fate! Amanda would have been a better fit! Damn! I remember each spiteful word thrown at Avri right there. Leaving it right now, she must have felt like dying on the spot. I am definitely changing this part. I took two steps closer to Alpha Killian who sat proud of his cruelty. I stared into his amber eyes and declared loudly. “I, Avri Lowell of G…golden Dwarf pack rejects the heck out of you, Alpha Killian of Silverfang pack.” I pointed my finger to his eyes. Another multitude of gasps rose in the air. I stared challengingly Alpha Killian. The man in a brown suit rushed up to me and whispered in my ear. “That is not acceptable Miss Lowell.” “But is it acceptable that he brutally rejected me?” I shot back. “He could because he is…” “The fucking Prince Charming?” I sneered at the man. I turned around to face Killian. “Hey you! We are definitely having another face off.” I signed with my fingers to show my challenge. Killian just stared at me in disbelief. I wasn’t going to say I didn’t like what I saw. He was as perfectly looking as he was in the story. I knew how this story was supposed to go because I read it. You might be wondering how we got here, now let me help you clear the confusion. I am Ava Lowell, and here I am, in my worst nightmare, dragged off to the w*****n world by the universe, into the very boring story I hated, and in the body of the weakest female character I have ever known. I felt a hand dragged me off the stage, so I stopped her. Amanda, Avri’s sister, spoke worriedly. “You ruined everything Avri! This was supposed to be our family’s pride!” “Really sister! Aren’t you still sulking that Killian wasn’t your mate?” I said sternly. Amanda’s countenance dwindled immediately, that made me happy seeing that the bitch gets a taste of her own venom. I picked up my dress and made it for the food basket at the end of the hall. I picked up some cut white meat and munched hungrily on it. It tasted delicious afterall it was supposed to be my wedding day. Being rejected by a mate was supposed to be the worse that could happen to a werewolf but not me. I was going to make Alpha Killian regret his decision. I had just finished munching on the chicken when someone walked up to me. I stood up gauging her face. This part was strange, I couldn't think of it in the novel. Had my actions started to reframe the book? “Avie.” She called out coldly. Who is she? I stood up and made towards her. I was going to ask of her identity but before i could, “Gbam!” She landed a smack across my face. “Ouch! What was that for?” I yelled angrily. “You are definitely going to die by my hand.” She threatened. No! This wasn’t a part of the original script. Who the hell was this bitch? The author is finally flipping the script in my eyes. Was I truly going to die? Author's note: Chapter 2 was basically Ava getting rejected, roasting everyone, stealing chicken, and then getting slapped like WiFi that stopped working 😭💀🍗. And honestly? She ate that; literally AND figuratively.”Ava I took one look in the mirror and barely recognized myself. My Hair perfectly curled and I added a little bit of makeup to make my face look perfect. I wore an outfit tight in all the right places and heels that made me feel like I was walking on stilts. I looked at myself in the mirror, there is no way they are going to turn me down if they really need thick strippers.I tilted my head. “Congratulations Ava,” I muttered to my reflection. “You have officially weaponized thickness.” Hunger makes you creative.I opened the door to the lounge,I strutted in like I owned the joint. Music thumping, lights glinting off the bar, but this time, heads turned as I walked in. The manager looked up immediately, he froze, his eyes did a full-body scan like they were downloading a file. His jaw literally dropped. I swear I saw saliva pooling at the corner of his mouth.“Well, damn,” he muttered, “You must be the sister.”I smiled sweetly. “Unfortunately.” He circled the counter like a man appr
AvaMy stomach growled like it was fighting for its life. Loud. Angry. Dramatic.I was broke, hungry, and completely penniless, unless hunger counted as a currency. I had spent my very last coins on bus fare, and now here I was, standing in front of The Velvet Lounge, praying the universe finally felt sorry for me.The place was huge. Flashy lights. Glass doors. Music thumping faintly from inside like a heartbeat. Right in front of the entrance was a sign that looked like it had been sent straight from heaven.Help Wanted: Waitstaff.I nearly cried, another job advert. If I worked hard, maybe I would get tips. If I smiled enough, maybe someone would pity me and drop extra cash. Worst case, I could flirt my way into surviving until payday. Anything was better than starving to death dramatically on the street.I can do this, I told myself. I can totally be a waiter.I straightened my shoulders and walked into the lounge like I owned it, trying my best to channel confidence. Manly confi
Ava’s POV“Turn around.” The deep voice bellowed to me, he dropped the stash of papers I had handed him.I eyed him maliciously, I wasn’t stupid, I knew where this was headed, this is the third time in a day that a 360 was requested of me. I folded my arms on my chest.“Are you employing me or not?” I questioned confidently, staring at his freckle-covered face.“Well Mr Lowell, i could say…you have quite a face card but damn, you are too….”“Fat?” I interjected harshly.“Well, I was about to say meaty for a young lad, most of our customers are high school girls, no offense meant though.” What does that have to do with my employment? Was I supposed to seduce those little bitches?I shrugged my shoulders, “None taken, at least, you are a little more polite than the rest.”“Excuse me!”“Never mind, if your job listing doesn’t accept people of my body size….we’ll, it’s a shame we wasted each other’s time.”“No Mr Lowell, actually, we have two job openings but the receptionist you applied
Ava’s POV.I hate to say this but I am freaking out right now, I had confidently challenged Killian to a practice match today, now that we are almost on the ice rink, Why are my legs shaking terribly?“A.J, you have to show us everything you have got right now!” Killian’s voice thundered.Everything!I thought being selected the previous day was the end, I never knew I had to go through a more vigorous process.“Jake Job was a great hockey player, his replacement shouldn’t be any less.” Gale added, eyeing me like a hawk ready to devour its prey.“I can handle it.” I said calmly.I heard laughter behind me and I turned around to see those silly twins that attempted to oust me the previous day, there was a skinny third wheel that looked like a starved dog, oh! I almost forgot they were werewolves, starved wolf. The three silly boys seemed to think mockery was a great way to welcome a new team member.Well, I wouldn’t take any offense, I just have to teach them some manners on the ice r
Killian’s POV “Do I know you A.J Lowell?” “No Captain.” I kept staring at his giant back as I walked off the ice rink. The head helmet didn’t give me enough opportunity to gauge his expression but he just called me Alpha. He definitely knows that I am a werewolf and Silverfang pack leader at that. Was he a spy or something? “Captain, do you have something to say to our new intake? You have been staring at…his big butt…I mean back.” Scott, one of the team members said beside me. Was I that obvious? “No, I just wonder if he could possibly make up for Jake Job’s departure.” “No worries Captain, we will butter him up before the championship game.” I nodded my head in agreement but I still feel bad that my beta hated my decision. I have never seen Gale hate on anyone as much as that fat boy, probably because he never approved of chubby people at all. “Are you headed to the usual?” Scott said, suddenly taking me out of my thoughts. “The usual?” I questioned suspiciously. “Thick t
Ava’s POV I have one more rule to add to my collection, don’t hate the game, just hate the damn player! Gale was going to get the exact thing he wished for when he switched places with the goalie of the other team. I pushed my weight forward on my skates pretending that the other players were invincible, I dribbled with one of the players and collected the puck from him. Ouch! Making for the goal post was the logical move but I made for the illogical one, Showing off to Killian! “Bring the puck closer, fat boy.” I heard one of the players yell mockingly. I scoffed internally, I am getting used to being called fat even when I knew it was clearly an insult. I looked up towards the opponent goalpost and then to Killian whose eyes were glued on me. His eyes were wide open and right on me, just where I wanted it to be. I used my discretion and moved seamlessly between the players, each attempting to seize the puck but my hockey stick was as ill intent as I was. It kept throwing the
