LYRA:

Alpha Jerome's hands went up high. The crowd exploded in cheers, roars shaking the air. My heart stopped. This was it. No turning back.

Ronan and Silas stood in the center of the arena, eyes locked. Brothers. Twins. But now enemies.

They didn't move at first. Just stared. Then, as one, their bodies started to change. Bones cracked loud. Fur pushed out from skin, black and gray mixing. Ronan shifted to his wolf form, big, dark fur, eyes glowing brown. Silas right after, his fur lighter, but muscles just as strong. They dropped to all fours, growling low and deep.

The crowd went wild. "Shift! Fight! Alpha!"

The two wolves started circling each other slowly. Paws digging into the sand, tails low, teeth bared. Ronan's wolf was bigger by a bit, shoulders wider. Silas moved quickly, eyes sharp.

They went round and round, testing.

Silas lunged first. Fast as a shadow. He jumped at Ronan's side, jaws open for the neck. Ronan twisted just in time, snapping back. Their bodies crashed t

  • THE THIRD MATING   Chapter 142: What could that mean?

RONAN:I opened my eyes and found myself in Lyra’s car. This wasn’t like the other visions. There was no white space, no door. One moment I was still in the hotel, and the next, with a single blink, I was here, sitting in her car.Lyra drove back from the hotel as fast as she could. She was returning because of the news she had from Silas.Tears kept coming from her eyes, no matter how many times she wiped them away. Her hands shook on the wheel. She felt guilty.“It’s okay, Lyra,” I whispered.‘Ronan had whispered my name. Twice. After weeks of nothing. And I was not there. I was with Cole, in his arms, letting things happen that should never have happened,’ she thought in her mind. She put one hand on her belly for a second. “I’m sorry,” she whispered to my pup. “Sorry to you. Sorry to your daddy.”The mansion lights were low when the car stopped. Most of the pack was asleep. She parked quickly and ran to the clinic wing, and I ran behind her.The door to my room was open a bit. She

  • THE THIRD MATING   Chapter 141: Abducted

LYRA:The days after that night with Cole felt confusing.I stayed by Ronan's bed almost all the time, holding his hand and talking to him softly about the baby and how much we needed him to wake up.The guilt from what happened in the hotel sat in my chest like a stone I couldn't move, making it hard to look at my own reflection sometimes.I told myself it was a mistake that would never happen again, that Ronan was my mate and the father of our pup, and no one else mattered. And I promised I would let him know as soon as he wakes up.Silas and Mira kept me company when they could, bringing food and small updates from the pack, but no one mentioned Cole. I think they knew something was wrong because he stopped coming to the clinic altogether. Part of me was relieved, but another part felt bad for how things ended, the angry words and the slammed door.About a week later, when the afternoon sun was warm through the clinic window and Ronan still hadn't whispered anything more, my phone

  • THE THIRD MATING   Chapter 140: Not Again

RONAN:The darkness from the last memory faded away slowly, and I was pulled into another one, the white space forming a new door again that opened on its own. I stepped through it, pissed off from what happened in the last vision. I promised myself that when I got out of this coma, my face would be the last face Cole would see. This time it was a different place. But again, she was with Cole. This time, Lyra was in a dress that flowed loose over her belly, and he was in his jeans and shirt. They sat on a bench by a pond, throwing bits of bread as they talked about dreams for the future, things Lyra and I never spoke about. He told her how he wanted to build something lasting in the pack and see places outside the lands. "What about you?" he asked, turning to her with that warm smile. "What do you see for yourself after the baby comes?"She thought about me waking up, about holding our pup, about a life with love and no more pain. "Just a family," she said quietly. "A home where every

  • THE THIRD MATING   Chapter 139: She Did This?

RONAN:The darkness from the last memory faded away slowly, and I felt myself pulled into another one, the white space forming a new door that opened on its own. I stepped through, ready for whatever came next, but my heart dropped the second I saw the room.It was Lyra's bedroom in the mansion. I knew right away this was recent, and when the door opened behind her and Cole walked in carrying shopping bags, following close, I felt sick.I stood invisible in the corner, watching helpless as she bent to put a bag down and he stepped closer, his hand brushing her arm. Rage hit me hard and fast. "You bastard," I growled, even though no one could hear. "You're so dead if you lay a hand on her. You'll wish you were never born." My cousin, knowing she was carrying my pup, knowing I was in the clinic fighting to come back, still trying to slide into her space like she wasn't mine.I couldn't do anything. I could only watch, my fists clenched tight in the vision space. Before she could rea

  • THE THIRD MATING   Chapter 138: The visit

RONAN:I was pulled into another memory. This time, I found myself in the same room, looking at Lyra in the same dress, and the basket Jerome had brought was still by the side, making me realize this must be the same day.It was afternoon. Lyra still sat on the same chair. Then I heard their voices, Jerome's deep laugh mixed with another man's voice, as footsteps approached the door. The door opened wider, and I saw my uncle, Uncle Harlan, tall with graying hair, walking in first. His eyes moved around the room quickly before settling on my body, where I lay.“Brother,” Harlan said as he gripped Jerome's shoulder firmly. “I'm sorry it took news like this to bring me back. How is he?”Jerome nodded as he returned the grip. “Holding steady. The doctors say he's fighting inside. Come in, meet everyone properly.”Then another figure stepped in behind him, Cole, tall and well-built, with dark hair tied neatly back and features that caught the light in a way that made him stand out.My eyes

  • THE THIRD MATING   Chapter 137: Closing In on Reality

RONAN:The darkness from the last memory faded slowly, and I felt myself being pulled into another one.The tears were still lingering in my eyes.As I entered through the door, I found myself in the hallway of the pack clinic. In front of me was the door to one of the clinic wards, slightly open. This must be where they took me after the incident.I slid through the door, seeing myself on the patient bed, a drip connected to my left hand. Beside my bed, Lyra was there, her hands covering mine. Silas was there too.“You can't keep going like this, Lyra. You have to give your body rest,” Silas advised, shaking his head as he stood at the foot of my bed.His eyes were full of worry as he looked at Lyra, the eye bags she had already developed from sleeplessness and the way she kept one hand protectively on her growing belly even while sitting. It pained my chest to see Lyra in that position, pregnant yet still by my side. I wished I could send her a message to let her know that she must
