Earis

I lunged at him, the hairpin angled at his throat. But he caught my hand mid-strike like it was nothing.

A sharp gasp creaked from my lips in a silent moan as heat exploded inside my veins the very second his palm enclosed over mine.

He didn't just grab my waist, his fingers slid lower, palm splayed over my hips, dragging my body over his. I felt every fiber of muscle, his well-built chest and abs carved like stone. Every breath he exhaled was like it was mine to take.

The mark on my neck pulsed in sync with my heart which was pounding heavily against my ribs.

He pulled my hands closer to his neck, the sharp tip of the pin slowly grazing his neck like he was daring me.

A low gasp rippled through the classroom.

“Don't worry, Miss Lockwood would never hurt me,” he said, turning to the class while keeping my body locked tightly against his.

“Would you, little hunter?” He whispered as his lips grazed my ears. My body jerked in response, betraying me by leaning in further.

He chuckled low — that cruel, amused rumble that twisted something deep in my belly. Then his knuckles moved up my throat, grazing the mark and it lit under his touch.

I hissed from the pain, then pulled away, forcing myself out of his grip. Heat flooded low in my belly.

My pulse was a war drum in my ears. I gripped the hairpin so tight I felt it bite my palm.

What the fuck is happening to me?!

He just stood there — infuriatingly calm. Waiting.

“Want to try again, little hunter?” His voice was low, silk, threaded with a threat only I seemed to hear.

“Go, Earis… put up a good fight would you,” someone cheered from the crowd.

I turned. The redhead! She was smirking like this was all for her amusement. Vanya was cheering alongside her like she thought this were an actual demonstration.

My eyes met Cassian's and he was fuming. His face was streaming red as he clenched his seat. His eyes locked on me like he wanted me to acknowledge his rage.

This was all a game for his amusement. And if he thinks I wouldn't actually stab him then that's what I'm going to use against him!

I tightened my grip on the pin and when I lunged again, I didn’t aim for his chest — I slid.

One heartbeat I was in front of him — the next, I was behind him, breathless, heart pounding like a drum in my skull.

“Enough. Thank you, Miss Lockwood,” he said, that same amused calm dripping off his tongue right before I could actually stab him.

He tried to pull me forward, back into place. But this time I was faster.

I drove the hairpin right between his shoulder blades.

A sharp inhale. A flicker of something dark in those eyes as he glanced over his shoulder at me.

A smile curled at my lips as I dragged my fingers over the blood seeping through his shirt. I wiped it on my collar.

Let them think it was part of the show.

He didn’t flinch. He just reached back, pulled the hairpin out of his back like it was nothing. Then he smirked at me — that predator grin that said you’ve just made this interesting.

He took my hand, forced me into a shallow bow beside him like it was all a performance. The theatre erupted in whistles and applause.

I met his eyes as we straightened. The pin, still firmly in his grip.

Next time, I thought, as he leaned in, so close I felt his blood warm on my skin.

“Good girl,” he whispered, too soft for anyone else to hear. A moan rippled low in my throat but I clenched my jaw refusing to feed his delusion.

Then, he slid the hairpin laced with his blood into my hair tucking my hair behind my ear.

I pulled the hairpin out of my hair the moment I turned to the stairs. I ran to my seat avoiding the amazed gaze of the students as they clapped.

“I wish I was used for the demonstration,” someone hissed as I passed. “Now Earis the weird girl got a feel of the new professor,”

What the fuck? They hate me because of him?

“Oh, Mr. Voss, let me be your prey,” another giggled as I walked past her. She was totally lost slamming her hands together in applause, literally drooling at his name.

“I’d fail this class ten times just to be pinned under him,” another girl said as she cheered with her friend looking at him with obsession laced in her eyes.

If only she knew the monster he was.

I clenched the hairpin tighter, almost ripping my palm with it as anger pooled over me. That's my fucking problem with Mundanes! They are fucking blind! How can they love him?!

I crumbled into my seat as my body shook from exhaustion. I turned to him and he had been staring at me the whole time with a satisfied grin on his face.

I dragged the pin across my palm until I felt it bite. A promise to myself and to him. Next time, I'll bury it in his fucking throat!

Magnus

I love it when she thinks she's winning. The way my voice makes her body react, it makes me hard. I can't wait to show her just how hard.

I could hear her ragged breathing and her heart calling my name as it pounded in her chest when she's near me. She wants all of me but she doesn't know it yet.

She has never lost a fight since the day she was born and I know this because I watched her mother when she was just a fetus. I watched her shoot her first practice arrow. I watched her become a blade her father thought he could wield.

Strigha–my Lycan was ready to mate her the moment the first seed of womanhood sprouted on her chest. But I waited. I watched her sharpen her claws, and let her think she was the predator.

Now she's ripe and I've come to collect what had been promised to me for over a thousand years.

When I felt her pin bite between my shoulder blades Strigha purred. She’d marked me back. Good girl. I’ll make her do it again — deeper next time. And next time, it won’t be my shoulder she tastes.

She'll feel the heat of my cock—the hunger that coils in me whenever I scent her untouched blood.

She doesn’t know how far I’ll go to make her end this torment that’s been mine for centuries.

  • Hunt Me, Mark Me    159. A perfect morning for roleplaying

Earis I took a deep breath long enough to make sure I was no longer dreaming before I opened my eyes. The scent of clean sheets filled my lungs, and I could feel the cold of the AC brushing against my skin. The air was mixed with that maddening smell of him… dark, musk, and strangely impossible to ignore. It wrapped around everything, clinging to the room like it belonged here. I could feel the ridge muscles of his bicep under the soft, feathery pillow and his firm chest behind me. His free hand was carefully tucked under my belly like he also had to include Lanfia in the cuddle, just like it had been every morning for the past two weeks. His breath was heavy, fanning the back of my neck, and his heart thumped slowly. A faint smile tugged at my lips. If love could have a smell, it was definitely this. “Girl, don't you just love this life? Let's remain in his warmth for the rest of today,” Skylar purred. I haven't felt this free and peaceful in forever, and it was scary to get us

  • Hunt Me, Mark Me    158. The extinguisher to her flames

MagnusI could smell the cabin burning from the main road. Akira was already fidgeting, mumbling some spells. The air in the car was thicker than the factory air. My heart wouldn't stop racing… my thoughts slammed violently inside my head as I tried to figure out what the fuck was happening. Could it be that Aaliyah had broken Akira's spell? Or the hunters had found the cabin and burnt it down! Earis wouldn't be able to escape because of the spell Akira cast on her. Marble pushed the gear harder, trying to get to the cabin on time. The second we were within the barrier, Marble came to an abrupt stop, and I dashed out, shifting and lunging towards the cabin. My ears prickled, and I heard muffling sounds. “Earis, you have to calm yourself. You're burning the whole cabin to the ground!” Clarissa barked. I lunged forward, jumping as high as I could. I could hear the slow, steady thump of Earis's heartbeat, and the loud, fast thump of Lanfia's. I heard nothing about Aaliyah, and th

Earis What could I say? I was terrified out of my mind. I couldn't see the barrier, but I could see everything around the cabin… The pile of bodies Clarissa had stacked over at the edge to burn, those she had burned… the mess Magnus had made in the woods when he chased me. Since the roof was damaged, I got a clear sight of Aaliyah and Vanya, and I had to strain my eyes to see the last person who was seated in one of the empty rooms. Is that the fucking doctor? What the hell? “How the hell do I get down from here?” I snapped. “It's easy, just think of where you want to go and your body is bound to obey,” Hela responded. I shut my eyes, trying to block out the noise and the sound of my own heart racing inside my chest. With everything happening, and even though Magnus had left me trapped in this cabin, all I wanted was him. Not to save me, but to give me an explanation. Slowly, I thought of being low until the ground, more like I wanted to feel my feet on the ground. And I could f

Earis Something was wrong, I could feel it from the way the air shifted around me. I felt like I had been having the same conversation with Vanya for hours, like I was stuck in a time loop, and each time I had a different thought on how I wanted it to go, but it still ended up the same way. “I can't believe you guys graduated without me…” I teased, and Vanya chuckled. “We'll let you guys have the room. I'll be outside if you need me, little wolf,” Magnus said, and weirdly, he had a smile on his face, and they all walked out, shutting the door behind them. That was the first flaw. I had been trying to put a smile on his face after the doctor had examined me. And he had been acting weird since he walked out that door until now. I tried to use Skylar's ability to listen to what was going on outside the door, but it was dead silent. The smile on my face flattened, and I turned to Vanya. “Do you notice anything weird?” I asked, and her brows furrowed like always. “What do you mean,

Magnus In one swift motion, I ripped the bottom of my shirt off and tied it around my pinky finger. My bone had dissolved, and the pain was excruciating. Blood gushed from the wound as I struggled to cut the blood flow. There was no time to think of the pain. I had to get the fuck out of here. A sharp pain pierced my chest, right where I had the tattoo of Skylar, and instantly, I knew something was wrong with Earis. I shot to my feet immediately, grabbing the burner phone and turning to Josh, who stood frozen like he had seen a ghost. I grabbed him by the shoulder and slammed him against the wall. “Who are you? What did you make me do?” He stuttered, his body trembling against my grip. My eyes glowed red, and I let out a low growl.“Like I said before, today is your lucky day, Josh,” I smirked, trying to hide the pain and my trembling knees as the wolfbane coursed through my veins and into my heart. “W…what are you?” He stammered, his eyes already glistening with tears. I pulle

Magnus I actually thought the containment feed line was going to be a large room filled with drums of liquid wolfbane, but my expectations were cut short when I walked into a small room with barely enough space for three people. “Sir, you should wear a mask,” Josh said, handing me one. I took it from him and put it on, still maintaining my distance by standing at the entrance of the room. “Go ahead,” I ordered, folding my arms as my gaze fixed on the countdown timer blinking red on the wall. 0:59.This was it, everything today has been about, and we were almost done. For a brief moment, a glimpse of Earis’s face crossed my mind… the curve of her smile, the way her eyes softened when she looked at me. Stigha wasn’t the only one missing her warmth. I couldn’t wait to go back to her. It had barely been twenty-four hours since I left, yet it felt like it had been a week. Every second away from her stretched endlessly. All I wanted was to hold her again, to take her far from that god
