Magnus

“Don't look so surprised. I always knew she had so much potential,” Cicada grinned.

It wasn't just Seraphine's presence that caught my eye, it was Nuel's absence. It wasn't like him to leave me to myself, especially now. My eyes scanned the hall but he was gone.

I clenched my jaw. I didn't want to believe Seraphine was alive, but I could see the hatred in her eyes, and hear her heart throbbing loudly in her chest. That was no illusion.

“Don’t be silly now, you know you can't hurt me with that,” I scoffed, crushing the arrow until it snapped in half.

The room narrowed. All eyes stared at me. Someone had dragged the dead back into the light. Witches in Paris were nothing like the weaklings at Westridge. Akira was the only powerful witch in Westridge.

But here in Paris, the silent, calculating fear in that thought slid cold down my spine. I knew all too well that resurrection was possible here, even if it was at a great cost.

But who would go as far as resurrecting Seraphin

Earis His hand slowly slid off my face, and his eyes suddenly went blank after I said those words. He looked like his soul had been snatched away from his body and I was left holding an empty shell that didn't even blink. I was only trying to prevent the quarrel I heard during the Chrone un Charan ritual. I thought that if I had told him about the life I wanted with him, it'd ease the fact that I had held onto that information for hours. I didn't expect him to jump at the news, but I didn't expect him to lose himself completely either. “M…Magnus?” I stuttered, but there was no response. My heart thundered in my chest. “Magnus,” I called again, shaking his arm slightly as tears rolled down my cheeks faster. “Please say something,” the unmistakable desperate plea escaped my lips. “Magnus please…” I sobbed, staring at his blank expression. My body began to tremble and my heart felt like it was being run over by a truck. Was he upset? Doesn't he want a child with me? What the fuck

Magnus. “Atheria!” Akira spat, and I heard her take a step back “You heard her, she'll drain us all!” She hissed. Akira had said she knew nothing about the Atherias, but I recognized the deep-rooted fear she exhibited in the disguise of distaste, like rival packs at war. Louis stepped in still covered in mud. “Everyone this is Liora, our Siphoner, and she might have just activated her powers today,” he said, placing a hand over her shoulder. “I'd like to warn anyone who isn't Mundane not to be within a six-foot radius from her, anything she touches tends to turn to soot,” he added. I scanned both girls, they wore the same attire and had the same hair. Twins if I must assume, but their faces and personalities couldn't be more different. “Aren't you forgetting something?” The other twin spoke, gesturing her head in a sassy way as she spoke. “And before I forget, this is Ivy, the twin of Liora,” he sighed. All this chit-chat bored me to death. We had something important to do. “

  • Hunt Me, Mark Me    133. The panic and the plunge

Magnus “We're not done!” I snarled letting go of her arm.My legs moved before my brain could catch up, and I stumbled out of the entrance of the cabin. She's here and there's no wasting time. Iris was seated on the porch snacking on some chocolate bars. I hopped over her running towards the punk rock music.“Hey… watch it!” Iris snapped, but I didn't wait to respond to her, my legs wouldn't stop moving, chasing the sound as the scents became clearer. Three scents hit me first. Oud, jasmine, and Vanilla. All very saturated and expensive, but I couldn't smell the natural, earthy scent of my mate.My heart skipped a beat. I'm going to tear Louis to shreds if he dares let anything happen to her whilst he is still breathing. The car came into sight as I ran faster, my muscles crunching as I moved. Louis drove on his power bike with someone who definitely wasn't Earis, she clung to him like her life depended on it. A pink car followed behind him, and whoever was inside was singing to t

  • Hunt Me, Mark Me    132. Two hours, eight minutes left

EarisLouis lost his usual cool even though he tried his best not to show it. He walked around in circles, cursing under his breath as to why he had smashed his phone in anger.Liora sat atop the power bike tapping her feet repeatedly against the ground. She pulled her phone from her pocket and started dialing someone. I can't drive a power bike, even if I can, if Liora touched me she'd drain the life out of me. Louis can't leave me here and take Liora to the cabin, I'll die before help gets here. I was so terrified I could see the darkness closing in. The wailing sound of an ambulance came from a distance, and that sound almost made my heart explode from my chest. I adjusted my glasses and arranged the wig on my head. Then I struggled to get on my feet, even though it felt like my bones were about to snap. I made sure I stood at least six feet away from Liora. Louis snatched the phone from Liora and started typing. It took less than three minutes for a hot pink Mercedes-Benz AMG G

Earis A loud shriek tore through the air as Ivy trembled. Liora stepped back, shaking her wrist violently, trying to get rid of the residual ash on her palm. It looked like fine soot, the only sign of the compass that had been there moments ago.She looked more terrified than Ivy who supposedly just witnessed her sister do something impossible.Mr. Dubois and Louis bolted into the office. Louis’s gaze met mine immediately. His eyes widened asking the question he didn't say. I nodded slightly, my gaze darting towards Liora. “Really?” He mouthed. “Something is wrong with Liora, that's not my sister…” Ivy screamed, rushing towards Louis for protection. “I don't know what happened,” Liora said, lips trembling. She kept moving backward, shaking her head, and staring at her palm like it wasn't part of her body. Mr. Dubois paid no attention to Ivy, his focus was on Liora. “Liora… listen to me, it's okay, you didn't do anything wrong,” I said trying to calm her down because fear is equ

  • Hunt Me, Mark Me    130. The Gemini twins

Earis Mr. Dubois stayed out of the office with Louis as he made the call to Ivy's parents. I was seated in the office with the twins just watching them mumble. “Are you serious? Why the hell are you even here? As if dressing in the same clothes as me isn't enough, you want to steal my spot as well?!” Ivy barked at Liora. “I'm… I'm sorry Ivy, I heard the scream so I came to check if you were okay, I didn't know I would be sent here as well,” Liora whimpered. What the hell is she doing? She's also mean to her sister? “You'd better take the blame for this! If you hadn't left my notebook in my locker and actually carried it like you ought to, then all this wouldn't have happened!” she hissed, the sass in her voice was louder than her words. Seeing how these two acted made my head ache. My hands unconsciously lowered to my belly. I hadn't actually settled down to think what it would mean to raise a child. And at my age… please. Only God knows if they'll grow up to become like Liora o
