Chapter 83

3 YEARS AGO

|| Alberto's POV ||

I was never a fan of the chill that came with visiting the foreign packs, especially those set so deep within the Russian territories that even the moon did not wish to grace down here. The Bravta Pack was an old name, one rooted in both crime and fidelity, and today I had crossed oceans to request an alliance.

But I would have known better. Their type of power didn't do favors.

I stiffened myself in the lavish sitting room of the estate, my hands clasped behind me as the heavy doors swung open. In walked Mikhail, head of the Bravta. A tall, square-shouldered man with pointed, merciless eyes and a presence as heavy as a storm.

He did not invite me to sit. He did not smile. He barely even nodded.

"Royal Prince," he drawled with a smirk that never quite made it to his mouth. "Why do you creep here like a low-born?"

I swallowed the urge to argue back. I was not here to fight. I needed him — no matter how much my pride bled.

"I came to propose a

    Chapter 169|| CLARA'S POV ||The air was crisp in the mornings, the sort of air that cleared the mind—today was no exception. Today, my head throbbed with questions I had been unable to purge any longer. The previous two nights I had been going over every memory, every whisper, every glance exchanged during council meetings. The compact between our pack and Catherine's—it couldn't have been what they claimed it was. And I'd had enough of being the only one kept in the dark.I found Mikhail in his study, his back to me, hunched over his messy desk. I had no time for niceties. "Was there a deal between our pack and Catherine's?" My voice cut through the silence like a cutlass. He did not blink. "Yes," he said matter-of-factly. "There was.""So it is true," I complained, pacing back and forth in front of his desk slowly. "You've been working with Catherine's relatives.""Not behind yours, Clara," he answered firmly. "We all agreed on it. You were. not there when the decision was made

  • Hunted By My Rejected Mate   chapter 168

    Chapter 168 || CLARA'S POV ||I shoved the door open. There he was.Alberto Sinclair. Alpha of the Central Territory. He who once swore to protect me from all things, even him.He looked up at me, taken aback at first, then contained. His silver eyes held that same weightiness. But not me. I caught a flicker of something else there. Guilt? Shock? Perhaps even remorse. It was gone before it had a chance to form."Clara." He stood, smoothing his jacket as if he was going into combat. "Didn't expect to see you.""Clearly." I pushed inside, shutting the door behind me. "You've been busy. Stealing my shipments with your men? You might have at least had the respect to send a notification."He waved toward the chair in front of his desk. "Sit.""I didn't come to sit."He breathed but didn't push. He leaned against the lip of his desk, arms crossed. "Your last three tracks were abducted. We found illegal weapons.""They weren't mine.""They were hidden under the bolts of cloth bound for the

    Chapter 167|| ALEXIS'S POV ||I was fastening the last button on my shirt when I heard the gentle knock on the door to my chamber." Come in," I said without raising my head.Lysa slipped in quietly. Her robe was still cinched tight at her waist, her blond hair falling in loose waves, slightly tousled from sleep. But her eyes—they were wide, too bright, and they were full of something I didn't want to handle." You must go to the Werewolf Academy today," she whispered. "They're waiting to hear your decision about the new recruits."I nodded once. "I know. I was just about to go out."She did not step back. I could feel her eyes boring into my back like a pressure. "It's been five years," she said suddenly, her voice strained. "Five years since we were wedded. And your wolf still hasn't marked me."I stiffened. Not again. She took a cautious step closer. "Do you have any idea how that feels, Alexis? To be your official wife and still not be claimed by the very soul that's supposed to

  • Hunted By My Rejected Mate   chapter 166

    Chapter 166|| Elinda's POV ||I pushed the apartment door shut behind us, tugging Elias along by the arm. He didn't resist, but the air around us hummed with tension. My heart still pounded from what I'd witnessed. People had been looking. Whispering. His eyes had changed—twice. The flash of Alpha gold, burning like wildfire where it had no right to be."What the hell was that, Elias?" I spat, spinning to face him.He twisted his arm free, his jaw clenched, that same wild glint burning behind his irises. "They were bothering Cora. I didn't do anything wrong.""You didn't—" I nearly choked on the words. "You used Alpha power. On humans. In front of everyone!""It wasn't like that! I just… I felt it. I couldn't stop it."I stared at him, my breath catching in my throat. His pupils dilated, and for a brief moment, his eyes shone that strange golden color again. Then just as quickly, they normalized. My chest tightened.Twice. That was the third time today."Elias… " I whispered, my voic

  • Hunted By My Rejected Mate   chapter 165

    Chapter 165|| Alberto's POV ||The rain had already gone. I stood motionless on the porch as Clara's figure disappeared down the winding path, her steps disappearing until all I could hear was a distant echo in my mind. I let her go. I did not call out to her. I just stood there, hands clenched into fists in my fists, watching the woman I once trusted walk away from me.Catherine stood beside me. I could feel the pressure of her gaze on me but she said nothing until we reached the car. We sat down in the soft leather seats, and when the engine burst into life, the silence between us thickened. My knuckles gripped the steering wheel as I pulled out of the driveway. The rain had stopped, but inside the car, the tension lay.Halfway along the road, Catherine finally spoke, her tone quiet, almost hesitant. "Five years, Alberto." She looked out the window, not at me. "When are we ever going to have our mating ceremony?"I didn't respond immediately. What she was saying wasn't a surprise t

  • Hunted By My Rejected Mate   Chapter 164

    || CLARA’S POV ||Five years ago, I had been nothing but a bargaining chip, a whispered threat, a secret hidden behind the strength of men who thought they owned me. Five years ago, I had watched Mikhail’s pack tear itself apart while I smiled sweetly and pretended to be small. Now, they bowed to me.I stood at the head of the grand meeting hall, my fingers trailing lightly along the smooth oak table that Mikhail once slammed his fists upon to silence dissent. Tonight, he stood behind me, silent as a grave, eyes vacant and waiting for my command. My hypnotic hold on him was more than just power—it was my triumph. I had twisted the Alpha into my loyal hound. The pack had gathered, their eyes flicking between Mikhail and me, their confusion a living thing that hung in the air like fog. They had come expecting him. They left remembering me.I could almost taste their disbelief. It tasted like victory. When I spoke, my voice coiled around the room—soft, yet impossible to ignore. I laid ou
