Tara (Two Months Later)

I smiled up at Terse as we walked hand in hand through the forest in the moonlight. I loved the way he made me feel like I was the only woman in the world. I was so happy with him and I was saddened even more that Tasha had lost the opportunity to feel this with her mate. I leaned my head against his shoulder.

“I love you, Terse.”

He squeezed my fingers. “I love you, too, baby.”

“I have a question for you. You’re close with Adam, right?”

He glanced at me. “Yeah, as close as someone could be, I suppose.”

“Why is he okay with all of this? I know he loves Mona but this is too much. She’s hurting and she has no one to turn to except for me. She needs her mate but she doesn’t trust him.”

He sighed. “I’ll talk to him.”

I beamed up at him. “Thank you.”

He kissed me. “You know… a pretty girl like you shouldn’t be out in the woods alone. There are predators.”
