Chapter 2

Author: Mohini
I brushed the tears from my face and finally responded to the message that had remained unanswered for years.

Without a second thought, I typed, "You don't have to be the other woman. I'll marry you."

When I got home, I ignored the crying baby and walked straight into the room to pack my things.

Before I could even start packing properly, Eunice kicked the door open and pulled me into an embrace.

Her breath was hot against my ear. "Jay, I need you. Please don't leave me."

It was the first time in five years she had touched me, and the first time she had ever called me by such an intimate nickname.

However, I couldn't stop thinking about what she had said. Tears welled up in my eyes, and I pushed her away.

"I'll get your medicine."

I was barely out the door when Eunice grabbed me and forced a glass of milk into my mouth.

My vision blurred, and through the fog, all I could see was her irritated face.

"Drink it and rest. I'll be back when I'm done."

It turned out that her gentleness was nothing more than a cover to slip me something. The heat consumed me, and I tried desperately to hold back.

Moments later, Eunice's friends pushed through the door, laughing cruelly.

"Eunice was right. Jayden really is that desperate. All it needed was a tiny dose, and he's already out of control."

"Let's hope the higher-ups enjoy this little show."

Several of them stripped me naked and posed me in all sorts of positions while the camera flashed again and again.

I dug my nails into my thigh, fighting to stay conscious, as burning tears slid down my cheeks and pooled inside my ears.

They stretched and bent my limbs into grotesque, humiliating poses, and I was drowning in a sea of shame.

I couldn't fight back. All I could do was lie there and let them do as they pleased, knowing the camera was recording every second of my humiliation.

At that moment, even the thought of death felt like a mercy I didn't deserve.

In a haze, I started to hallucinate. I saw two bodies tangled together, moving up and down in front of me.

A familiar voice reached my ears.

"Dylan, you have to believe me. I've never touched him all these years. As soon as I find someone to take his virginity, I'll finally be able to prove my innocence..."

Eunice's breath broke into gasps and moans, raw with a passion and surrender I had never once seen in all our years together.

When the heat finally subsided and the last gasps had faded into silence, they turned to the baby.

"Here's your daddy, little one. You're going to be the best little boy for him, aren't you? Go on, give Daddy a cuddle."

The baby gurgled happily, producing two crisp sounds.

"Dada."

Those two syllables I had so desperately wanted to hear now fell on me like a crushing weight, leaving me gasping in agony.

Now, as I looked back, I couldn't help but wonder what those three years of raising him had really amounted to.

I had held on to a loveless marriage for five years, only to find out that the woman I called my wife and the child I called my son had never truly been mine.

While they laughed and celebrated around me, I collapsed into the darkness of despair.

In just one night, the video they had recorded had circulated everywhere, and the barrage of cruel comments was unending.

"Eunice, I can't believe there are actually women who don't care that Jayden was a homewrecker. They're fighting over him. Who knew he'd be so popular?"

Eunice scrolled through the footage with a satisfied smile.

"Good. Keep it under wraps for now. Once everything is in place, I'll bring Dylan home. We'll hold our wedding on the baby's first birthday. You can go and make the arrangements."

Her friend asked cautiously, "And what about Jayden? Do we still keep him as the other man?"

Eunice's expression flickered, and then her gaze accidentally met mine.

Dylan reluctantly pulled his hand back, though the hatred burning in his eyes didn't fade. Suddenly, he grabbed my shoulders and broke down sobbing. "Fine, I won't make a scene. Just give Eunice back to me, and I'll leave."I laughed out loud. He actually still believed she would go back to him. At that moment, I realized I didn't hate him anymore—I just felt sorry for him. "She's your wife. Whatever happens between you is your problem, not mine. Now get out."Dylan's face contorted with fury as he stalked toward me. "Who do you think you are, Jayden? What's so great about being the other man?" In a flash, he grabbed a knife from the table and lunged at me. But before he could reach, Eunice appeared out of nowhere and kicked him off the stage. "If you dare lay a finger on him, I'll make you regret it!"Dylan propped himself up on the ground, struggling to his feet with a face full of disbelief."Eunice, I'm your husband! You're defending the wrong man! What does Jayden ha

Eunice scrambled to explain, "But that's not why I came to find you. I came because I truly love you."I know I've done a lot of terrible things in the past, but when I found out you were going to marry someone else, I panicked.""It was only then that I realized the person I've always loved was you. I was just too blind to see it..."I almost laughed when I heard her say the word "love". I frowned and pushed her away in disgust. "You don't get to say that to me. Are you leaving or not? If you keep harassing me, I'll call the police."She continued to pursue me relentlessly, then Felicia stepped in."I've already been more than generous with you," Felicia warned coldly. "Don't push your luck."As soon as Eunice caught sight of Felicia, every trace of softness in her gaze disappeared."And who do you think you are?" she snapped. "You stole my husband, and you dare to act so smug about it?"It took her a second to realize what she had said. When had she ever given me a title?

Eunice had been the girl I adored since I was young—the one I had always believed I would marry. But I never could have imagined how wrong I was about her.I pulled Felicia close, wrapping my arms around her shoulders. A mixture of relief and lingering dread swirled inside me as I kept apologizing over and over. Felicia, who was always so proud and unyielding, suddenly broke down in tears."Jayden, this is my fault. I should have tried harder. I should never have let you go with that woman. Otherwise..."The past five years had been like trying to hold onto smoke with my bare hands. There was never any real happiness—only Eunice's cold shoulder, a child who came out of nowhere, and a truth that shattered everything I believed in.I had been too stubborn to see the signs and too foolish to walk away.To help me vent my anger, Felicia took matters into her own hands and reported Eunice. Mercer Corporation was rocked to its core, and Eunice was compelled to make a public apology.

"I made a terrible mistake," Eunice admitted. "I should never have lied to him, and I should never have let him become the target of public hatred. Please stop calling him a homewrecker. I was the one who kept my marriage a secret. He's innocent."However, the crowd wasn't buying it. The jeers grew fiercer."Look at her, trying to clean up her act. You deceived him for five years, and now your own husband cheated on you. Serves you right!""Cheaters belong together. You and your husband are a perfect pair. I hope you stay together forever and stop ruining other people's lives.""Jayden is so lucky he married his first love. Can you imagine him being stuck with a woman like Eunice for a lifetime?"Eunice kept her head down and took the verbal abuse without fighting back. The crowd hurled water bottles, snacks, and anything else they could grab. She stood there, accepting it all.As the press conference neared its end, she looked directly into the camera and said, "Jay, please co

Felicia had once said she would gladly be the one on the side if it meant she could have me again. But over the past five years, I had never once called her or done anything to betray Eunice behind her back.A question kept circling in Eunice's mind—was I truly planning to go back to my first love?Eunice slammed her fist against the wall so hard that her knuckles bled. She wanted to charge over and take me back, but she had no right and no claim to me anymore. At that moment, one of her friends called, sounding completely frantic."The Huxtons have reported us to the police for harming Jayden. We could be in real trouble—"Eunice snapped back, "Who cares! If Felicia wants to fight, let her. If she can put me behind bars, good for her."Her friend couldn't make sense of it. Eunice had never cared much about me before, so why was she losing her mind over me now? After hanging up, Eunice went home. On the coffee table lay a paternity test report. She read it over and over again b

The ring fell from Eunice's grasp and hit the floor with a clatter that pierced the heavy silence of the hall."He's getting married? Her friend nodded and passed her the camera. "I was checking the video to see if we captured anything, but then a woman appeared and took Jayden away. She said she was taking him to the city hall to get married."She paused, then lowered her voice to a near whisper. "Eunice, if we don't have the recording, and Dylan starts questioning your relationship with Jayden, how are you going to explain it?"Eunice ignored her and replayed the clip over and over. In the video, a woman helped me up and then asked me to marry her.I nodded without hesitation, as though the two of us had already made this plan long ago.She found herself wondering if I had already known what was really going on. The very thought sent a chill down her spine."No. He can't do this," she muttered.Just as she started to walk away, Dylan caught her by the arm, looking visibly u
